I just had my first tanning session with L.A. Tan and I enjoyed it! I've always wanted to try a…read moretanning booth but never carved out the time to do so until recently. This location was the highest rated on Yelp so a week before my first session, I visited this location and spoke with Maya. Maya gave me a quick layout of the land and showed me the types of tanning beds and additional services (i.e. Red Light Therapy and VersaSpa/Spray Tan) they offer. I had my sights set on the tanning beds but wanted to choose the right one for me and my skin type. I'm already pigmented and can tan easily so I opted to start out with the level 2 type tanning bed. The tanning beds are graded by the level of (UVA/UVB) intensity with levels 1-2 being the lowest grade. The 1-2 levels are great for beginners and those new to tanning facilities. Levels 3-4 are your intermediate levels and lastly levels 5-6 offer the most intense, deep color tans requiring minimal time in the bed/booth. They have standing tanning booths or lie flat tanning bed options. I chose to do a level 2 bed and laid in their Uwe Lotus. I'll have to admit I did feel a little claustrophobic in the bed but after a few minutes, you get used to it. It can get a little loud inside because you'll hear the cooling fans go but the beds are nice and warm. Since you're surrounded by lamps, there really is no need to turn during your session to even out your tan. Maya recommended using the lotions prior to tanning since the lotions help moisturize your skin while locking in and retaining the color from the lamps well after your session. Being new to this I bought their half ounce sample lotions. I used the entire sample packets for my face and body. After one session I instantly noticed color on my skin! I did not come out looking orange (which I was afraid of) and I left a shade darker with a nice tan! You will need eye goggles to protect your eyes while you're in their bed. They sell them on site for $4.00. My overall tanning session was 12 minutes but set aside at least a half hour for lotion prep before with time to change afterwards. The cost of my tan session was under $18 as of 2.3.2024. This was minus the cost of the lotion and goggles purchased onsite. If you've never done it before, I would recommend trying it once. Happy tanning!

They schedule me in each procedure so I don't wait when going from room to room. They respect my time and always have a pleasant greeting when I get there. I have been to other LA Tan's, but I go out of my way to go to Morton Grove because of their outstanding service. GREAT job ladies.

Purchased sample lotions on site for my first tanning session. Aloe mate is for the face and neck. Valor is for the body.

Level 2 Uwe Lotus. It's spacious and if you already have tanned skin like me, starting at level 2 to get a base tan is a good start.

I've been going to LA Tans in the Chicagoland area for the last 10 years and this location is…read moreprobably the most rundown (even though they did "renovations" earlier in the year). The level III beds are the same beds they used when I started tanning in 2007, and most of them do not even work properly: buttons missing, facial lights not shutting off properly when you manually turn the switch to avoid burning, the tops come down further than they should, cracks in the beds, and bed 16 doesn't even have a fan on the bed - I honestly felt like I was in a death trap! I also can't even tell you how many times I've walked into tan at this location only to be told that their "system was down". Ugh. Don't even get me started on how dirty the fans and beds are at times. I will give this place 3 stars due to their customer service being so great, however, I would highly suggest updating their beds sometime in the near future.

I'd like to start this off by saying that when I first moved to the area a handful of years ago,…read morethe reviews and ratings of this place were... not great. In fact, they were SO not great that neither my partner nor best friend would accompany me on my first visit. And the reviews weren't wrong. ANYWAY- that was then and this is NOW. In a Covid-19 ravaged world, public spaces (let alone salons!) endanger Americans' wellbeing simply by stepping outside. This public health crisis has become a mental health crisis as well, as feelings of depression and isolation grip our family and neighbors' minds. However on a whim, I decided to visit the LA Tan on Milwaukee one afternoon- that same LA Tan that left me needing (and wanting) more... needing better, so many years ago. Remember when you were little? When the knight in shining armor swooped in on a powerful and galumphing stallion, JUST in time to save the day- remember that? Well in a glorious manifestation of Life Imitating Art, our knight arrived vis-a-vis new ownership, and the stallion he brought? Oh that stallion was none other than the nothing-short-of-brilliant Christine. "But WHO is this Christine??" the readers implored, scratching their heads. Glad you asked. Christine is the vivacious and bubbly manager of both the Palatine AND the Libertyville locations, and she was brought in to kick ass and take names. And by ass I mean 'bad habits to the curb', and by take names I mean 'curate an exemplary experience within your local bronzed-skin factory'. Christine immediately went to work hiring the right people for the job- I don't know if they arrived in the box perfect or if she worked with them to help cultivate an ideal skill set for this role, but she done did it. Which brings me to my final point. Sam. Sam, Sammie, or Samantha, this rose could *literally* go by any other name while her customer service, stellar representation of a professional brand, AND overall knowledge would be just as great as this sentence is long. And trust me- I have worked in tanning salons before on the East coast. Sam not only spoke with me knowledgeably about products and best practices to help maximize a healthy result from my time at LA*T, she left me glowing from this whole sitch. A friendly, well-informed, helpful, and smiling face is always what employers hope for in their outward-facing roles, and gosh darnit if Christine didn't strike gold with Sam! In conclusion- tanning IS cheaper than therapy, but don't go to just ANY old tanning salon... come to LA Tan on Milwaukee in Libertyville. You won't be disappointed!
