My Mom lives near here and we come in at least once a year. This time, it was to celebrate my birthday and my older son's. We got four meals and an appetizer and the total was about $50. It was Mom's treat and she was pleasantly surprised at the total. We were greeted immediately on entering and told we could select a table. Our server was super friendly and answered all of our questions. You can tell there are plenty of regulars in here. The place seemed clean and I think the restrooms have gotten an upgrade since the last time I used it. This is an easy choice for affordable food with a menu everyone in my family can find some good options on, with a bonus that it's not a chain restaurant. This time I got the Franny melt with a side salad, it hit the spot. Mom got the open faced roast beef, it's her favorite. My oldest got 3 biscuits and gravy and was happy with his choice. My youngest went with the 2 2 2 2 with sunny side up eggs that were picture perfect, and he inhaled every bite. We got mozzarella sticks to share, they were pretty standard. read more

The meat was grey?!? The server was very rude. The waitress did not check on us once. The bathroom is not the nicest. The hash-browns come burnt or barely cooked at all. The breakfast at Troy Family has been really good. But the cleanliness is in question. The bathrooms are gross and really need to be fixed and cleaned thoroughly. A group of friend and I used to meet there once a month. Now we go somewhere else that looks and feels cleaner. Troy Family please clean and repair so my friend and I can come back. read more

I have been there twice. It was nothing special. The biscuits were small and from a can. Everything else was just mediocre.

I don't even have words for this restaurant. Smh the menu is all over the place. Ordered kids spaghetti that tasted exactly like Chef Boyardee out the can. Conveniently located right off the highway, we stopped here simply based on location and price-point. Our server was a super cute young girl with a contagious smile and great demeanor. The food is ok and service too. The place is not clean and the atmosphere is boring. Just another so so place for breakfast and the place needs to be maintained better (all the condiments shakers had sticky fingerprints and does not appear to ever been cleaned. No complaints about the service. The portions were smaller than expected and the place/environment just is so drab and depressing and appears to be something out of the 50's or 60's. The place is ok, but I am going back to Bob Evans for great service and food next time. If management was doing their job, this place could seriously use an upgrade with a fresh look and feel and the place needs to be be much cleaner. Something about sticky tables and menu that turn me off instantly. I doubt if they clean menus from the looks of speared finger prints and greasy too. Ordered Reuben, side salad and cup of ham and bean soup Salad was wilted and came with a greek dressing that was lacking any real flavor Ham and bean soup tasted like it came straight out of a can Reuben was sparse on meat and I could not taste any dressing on the sandwich... OMFG!! This place deserves 10 stars. The over medium eggs were PERFECT something very few places managed to achieve. The bacon was excellent had nice flavor the hashbrowns tasted homemade and may very well be. They certainly didn't taste like reconstituted hashbrowns which is what most places serve. Embarrassingly, we topped off our breakfast with a slice of sugar-free coconut cream pie which is possibly the best coconut cream pie I have ever had in my LIFE. Even the ice tea was fabulous and the service from Katie was superb, she was so sweet and so nice and so observant. This was one of the best restaurant meals I've had in a very long time. I am shocked that they only have a three star rating. It's clean it's comfortable and the food was delicious, you should definitely go here. I am a tough grader because I grew up in the restaurant business in on one of my own but this place has it going ON!! read more

Thought we would try it out today for pick up. WAY slow!! Over 30 minute wait, after promised time, for my online order.

My co-workers & I used to frequent this restaurant. Today we went back, after apparently forgetting why we quit going. The menu on their website has lower pricing, which they do not honor when you go to pick up your food. Even better is that their current menu in the restaurant also has inaccurate pricing. Everything we ordered was considerably more expensive than quoted on current menu, which read "Prices Listed Subject Change"...even the warning on their menu shows a lack of care in wording. So everything was a minimum of $1 more per meal. The service is lacking because they are not even remotely apologetic for not warning you that your carryout order may be priced higher before you get there. In fact, this is not the first time we have dealt with someone rather indignant. I will go to Cracker Barrel from this point forward for better food, service & pricing. Also: Terrible parking lot. Not overly friendly staff. Inferior breakfast food for the cost, which you have no idea of actual cost until you get your bill since the menu pricing is WRONG. read more

I've been here a few times and the floor is always dirty and I'm a little scared of such a big menu. There is no way all the food is fresh with so many options. Great 100% local restaurant that is a throwback in the best way possible. Good food at reasonable prices brought out to your table quickly by a waitress who is smiling and genuinely seems to want to be there. Came for breakfast because we were looking for someplace other than our usual spots and remembered friends had told us, in the past, that they have a good breakfast. The food wasn't bad but the restaurant itself is one of the most filthy places I've ever stepped foot in, from the tables, to the salt & pepper shakers and the menus to the windows and front glass doors. So gross. I had to use the restroom and the seats are all covered in dried feces, clearly not just from this morning. I'm really not sure how they're passing health code. Pretty nice and friendly little family diner. They have a great breakfast menu and it always seems to be better than average food. The place is pretty clean and service is fast. Its a great place to take your kids and they will even make Mickey Mouse pancakes for them if you ask. All in all its a place that we eat over the fast food places and parking is easy read more

We stumbled upon this place by accident one day when we were going to go to the pizza place next door and it was super crowded and we were too hungry to wait. I'm so glad we did! I was very impressed by the service, the menu selections were numerous and the food was decent, very good portions and very affordable. We've been back 3 times and will go out of our way to go here instead of Highland or Edwardsville because most of the restaurants there are so overpriced, mediocre and crowded. This was the worst experience I have ever had. The food was mediocre, the waitress was awful, the manager was unwilling to try to fix or resolve any problems. The turkey club doesn't come with bacon, the soup was over salted, the gyro meat was from frozen, the restaurant in general had a very worn appearance, and we were over charged by about $7. The floor was dirty, we were the only costumers in the place, but plates and refills were never offered, even with 4 servers standing and chatting at the counter less then 15 ft. from us. Good food terrible service. Waitress brought my food & told me she was getting my toast. I told her that they sub my toast for a pancake (40 c diff ) & she said Idk. Never returned not to refill my water ask how was food or to give my check! When I got to register other lady walks off like I'm not standing there & calls for the other girl. They have kids eat free Monday through Friday. We have 4 kids. One is 10 and eats like an adult. We ordered 3 adults meals and 3 kid meals. They would only take off 2 kids meals. They were out of baked potatoes and ribs. They didn't have any salads lettuce so the waitress said that it would be a little bit longer for the salad. She completely forgot them. I told her about them when we paid out and she said that we could take them off the bill or take them to go. We took them to go. She make them bare handed without gloves. I have ran restaurants for 20 years and understand that gloves are not always used. I didn't say anything figuring she washed her hands before making them. My wife went to the restroom and says that the waitress didn't wash her hands. I have thrown away the salads. Add to that both my wife's steak and my steak were over done. read more

Pay attention to how much the food is priced on the menu and what you are charged on your check. This establishment has fraudulent business practices. We have been here on three occasions, and on all three occasions we have been overcharged for our food. The first time, we thought it was a mistake. But on the second and third visits, it became clear that this is how the restaurant is run. If you pay attention to the menu, everything is priced ending at .95. However, when you go to pay at the cash register, they ring every item at a .99 price point. Sure, sounds like no big deal. However, think about how much that accumulates over the course of a day. If a family of four orders 8 items ending with .95 on the menu and are charged 4 cents more, they end up spending 32 cents more on their transaction. Multiply that by all of the customers that come through weekly, and you're talking about hundreds of dollars worth of dishonest money. I have no problem paying 4.99 for a waffle, just list it as such on the menu. We won't be back there again. read more
