Not the case here. I can't get enough of boxing and this gym has a lot to do with it. The trainers are all invested in your progress and all the classes have been nothing short of a demanding workout that's fun and upbeat. This workout will kick your ass, but you'll be coming back for more. First class will be confusing with all the boxing lingo and you'll second guess yourself on whether you're able to keep up. It will come to you after a couple of classes, just be patient =). With the first month being $59 for an unlimited month of classes, I don't see why you wouldn't give it a try. Student discounts too here, just ask!

The owner wrapped our hands for the first and explained the importance of wrapping our wrists and knuckles to keep them stable. The wraps are $10 for a pair. Victor was our boxing instructor, seemed friendly and informative and an overall good trainer and walked around to check on our technique. We started with the 5 mins or so of warm-ups and then started our 8-3 min rounds of boxing with a minute break between each round and then 7 minutes of core work. It was a good workout. Will take more time to get more coordinated between the jabs, cross, hook and uppercuts. My arms and shoulder were good and sore within an hour and half after today's class. It was a fun and great experience. Great deal for unlimited check-ins a month for $99 for a 12 month membership. Would maybe do it again. Do be aware of signing on for the 12 month membership as I have heard from other members that they will come after you hard if you miss a payment or want out of your contract. Just be aware if you commit don't back out or it could be a nightmare.

My favorite trainer (ICE) switched locations and I didn't like the other trainers as much. Within 5 minutes of being here, I was speaking to the owner, and my day was made. ICE teaches here now!!! I was sooo happy!! He is literally the best and sweetest person ever. I took a class with one of the other trainers and it was very very challenging. I stayed to say hi to ICE after because he was teaching in half an hour. I didn't think he'd remember me and he did!! He got soooo happy to see me and gave me a huge hug! I even took a picture with him and he hugged me like 3 more times I love him!! He said that I'm always welcome in his class whenever I want. I took 30 min of his class and it was as amazing as I remembered it to be. His class is so fun and challenging. The gym is also really cool. It has portraits made out of boxing gloves and license plates. Such a cool vibe, I wouldn't even expect a gym like this to be in MI. Definitely check out this gym and take a class with ICE!!!! The group classes include bootcamp, The Grind (I'm scared to even try it from the name), and cardio kickboxing. Bootcamp classes are 1/2 kicking boxing and 1/2 Tabata style. The music during class will keep you hype & works well with punching a heavy bag. Classes are held as early as 6am and as late at 7:30pm. It's cool that they have classes 7 days a week. The owner is really nice, but don't let that fool you. Classes are intense, but you work at your pace. My pace, slow pace. He offers personal training sessions (in home or at the building). Classes are reasonably priced and will give you a real workout whether a newbie or athletic. Tip: It is right (less than .25 miles) past 13 Mile Rd. and you have to drive to the back of the building to get in. There are boxing gloves there to use, but you can buy a pair there (or a sporting goods store) for yourself if you don't want to share sweat.

She is really good about talking to everyone during class and making sure everyone has the correct posture/sequence down. I've been to another instructor's class once or twice but found her to be slower-paced so I mostly stick to Michelle's classes. Definitely take a yoga mat, even when you go to kickboxing classes - there is about 10 minutes of stretching at the end of every class and mats are required for this portion.
