I used Archer's Landscaping last fall for some problem landscaping areas. Jason Archer came out and…read moregave an estimate. He was helpful in breaking the estimate into "phases" to help me understand cost. His team was excellent. They ground 11 stumps for me, added soil and mulch to several tree beds, and cleared/planted three major bedding areas (think lots of weeds!). The team worked hard, they were considerate of my dogs/gate locking needs, and everything looks great. One thing I didn't like was that Jason recommends three things: hostas, boxwoods, and lilacs. I imagine there is more margin in those products and they are fairly hardy plants so there is less risk of someone using the replacement warranty (plants replaced within one year of planting). I tried to ask about other types of plants and felt dissuaded. I have big rabbit problems where I live and hostas are a bunny favorite so I anticipated trouble. He also may not be a landscape designer as much as a basic labor-type landscaper. Fast forward to this spring and 4 of my boxwoods did not survive the winter. When I contacted Jason he was sort of snippy saying something may be wrong with the soil. He did replace the boxwoods fairly quickly (within a week) but sent me an email blaming my dogs for killing the hostas by urinating on them. What he didn't know is I have a female dog who squats and does not use a bush. I also have two blind dogs (male) who have a large area of AstroTurf that they use as an "anchor area" because they don't go too far from the house. I think he made the decision to plant the boxwoods very late in the fall and they didn't survive. Everything else still looks great even if I'm still in an epic battle with the bunnies to protect the hostas. I wouldn't not use Archer's again, but I also wouldn't say they earned a 5-star review.

Deadheading a ton of plants, cutting Ivy back from my house and trees, trimming tree branches away from my house, shaping my boxwoods, and removing tons of leaves because I live in an established neighborhood filled with huge trees... it was way more work than I have the capacity to do. Arun gave me an estimate of $1700. I knew it would be high, but it was even higher than expected. I considered going back to one of my previous landscapers, but ultimately, I wanted my property to be done exactly as I wanted it. I want to start by saying the crew clearly worked hard--this was a big job that took about five days, and we appreciated the effort they put in. Unfortunately, the quality of the work did not match the time and effort. Three of the large evergreen trees were planted noticeably crooked, and the arborvitae were not planted deep enough. As a result, eight of them died within a relatively short time. When I contacted the company to address the issue, they initially agreed to replace the dead arborvitae. However, after that, communication stopped. They never followed through, did not show up as promised, and ultimately stopped responding to texts altogether. It's disappointing because we invested a significant amount in this project and expected both proper installation and basic follow-up service. While the crew was hardworking, the end result and lack of accountability make it difficult to recommend this company.
