One of Hilton's lower priced options that is new and is just as comfortable as their other options. Not as quiet as some due to the proximity of the road outside but mostly due to an idjit cranking up his loud exhaust vehicle in the parking lot at 6 am and idling it for awhile to warm it up. If only I had Superman's laser beam eyes. Fairly easy access getting off and on the interstate. Room enough in the parking lot. The amenities in the rooms are simpler in this price range. No carpet on the floor. Smaller room. Basic furnishings. More hooks than closet space. But the bed was comfortable and I got a good nights sleep until the aforementioned idjit cranked his vehicle up. I would stop here again but I think I would not do the advance check in with the app so I could request a room on the backside of the building. Turns out there is a creek back there that might afford a nice view as well as a quieter room. read more

We stayed here after our bus tour trip to NYC from WV couldn't make the return trip home due to a snow storm closing the interstate. The friendly staff at the front desk was able to book our 4 rooms with ease at 4am when we arrived exhausted. The hotel is clean, quiet, and the staff was kind and accommodating. Free breakfast was hot and well maintained. Would 100% stay here again. read more

When planning our trip to visit family, we were surprised to see there was a new Hilton in Chambersburg. We had seen the construction the last time we visited and figured it must be a future hotel, lucky for us it was a Hilton! We always try to stay at Hilton's in order to take advantage of points but have never stayed at a Tru. We arrived about 8 pm and had already checked in online and got our digital key. This allowed us to go straight to our room without contact with anyone. The lobby is very inviting and they have snacks and drinks for purchase. The room was a standard size for two queen beds and appeared very European in style. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well during our four-night stay. The hotel was not very busy so, it was very quiet. The location is very convenient to both the interstate and various locations within Chambersburg. The pool and gym area was also open for guests. Overall it was a very good stay and we will likely return. read more

On a recent vacation I needed just a little getaway, it didn't have to be to a glitzy area, it didn't have to over the top, it just had to be a place where I could have just a bit of peace and quiet. You know, we all just need a bit of me time. I already had it in my mind that I was coming to this area to do some shopping. Obviously it isn't close to home, so the chooses were to have an extremely long day that was taken up by a majority of driving, or get a room and spend the night while I relaxed. Of course I chose the latter or why else would I be writing this review? Tru is basically a brand new hotel in the area. When I was doing my search for a hotel it doesn't even show up on some of the maps I came across. I would do a search on one of the many booking sites and it would tell me the hotel was there, but I would attempt to look it up and could not find it. I am one of those people that likes to know where he is going. Knowing that this is basically new meant that this place should be superbly clean, bright and rightly accommodating. Let me tell you, they nailed it on those fronts. When I finally showed up here for the night, it was just what I needed. I checked in and made my way to the room. As you can see from my pictures the room was nice and bright and spacious. The bed was super comfortable. I have to say that the lighting options in the room was a bit ridiculous, but very welcomed as well. You got the floor lamp in the corner, lamps on the nightstand, overhead light in the entry, lamp on the desk, and the best one is the lamp on the wall above the bed. Imagine getting ready to fall asleep for the night, you lower those room darkening blinds and you want to read a book, putz around on your computer, or just wanted some dim light while you channel surfed. You have that option with that lamp above the bed, so convenient, and so needed. The shower was pretty amazing. Stand up stall with glass door. Soap/shampoo on the wall if you did not bring yours, plus there is no extra waste with those small sample size bottles. Enough towels for you to use, and they prefer you reuse to reduce the need to launder too much. So let's just list the pros: -Swift check in -Abundant parking -Great sized rooms/Clean -Accommodating to needs if you forgot something -Outdoor patio area -Free WiFi -Continental breakfast (right now it is made to order, no picking over items) -Area tip boards by the elevators -Indoor pool -Great scenic look if you have a room facing back -Pet friendly The cons (there are not many): -The door to the stairwell did not close, troublesome since this serves as a fire door as well (my room was right across the hall from the stairwell door on the second floor, they encouraged using the stairs to promote social distancing) -Location, as I said it is a new hotel, it sits on a thin slice of land that abuts a stream. This strip of land is on a curve in the road, tricking to get in and out of at time, I assume maybe a little more so in the spring/summer when the greenery comes back blocking the view of oncoming traffic around the curve. One entrance shares a roadway with the nearby McDonalds, so it can be a busy road dependent on the time of day. Most noteworthy, it is next to the Interstate, it can be noisy. read more

We selected the Tru because it appeared to be fairly new. The room was clean, the pillows soft, and they provided a welcome bag of water and snacks. I'll get the negatives done with quickly: our TV didn't work (during NHL playoffs??), so the clerk on duty switched our room--in which someone had smoked. A lot. The saving grace of the whole stay were the employees , Brianna and Shannon. Brianna worked for ten minutes trying to fix the TV, then helped us move to the new room--and then back. She and Shannon gave us a $60 discount for all our trouble. Brianna was positive, patient, and helpful throughout. Trouble-free rooms are preferred, but when things do go wrong, a competent staff is invaluable. Thus the excellent rating. read more

I stayed here for one night and this is a very nice hotel. The cost was $150 which is a great value. The hotel looks new in my room was clean. The furniture and design are modern. The hotel design incorporates multiple colors. It is a relatively small room, which is OK. Bathroom was largeclean. The breakfast was free and consisted of oatmeal, pancakes, bacon, and eggs and pastries. Breakfast was not outstanding, but I enjoyed it, and I would certainly return to this hotel. read more

Excellent staff that is very helpful and accommodating. Early checkin was available and very easy to set up. A newer clean hotel.

The hotel was sparkling clean and the room was very comfortable, I even overlooked a small wooded stream...The problem is the other customers who were at the hotel: I arrived at 11:30 pm and had to weave through a large group of drunk unmasked men to get to the entrance, they had set up to drink beer and play cornhole only a few feet from the entryway. That was not Covid chic and did not feel very welcoming but unfortunately it got worse from there as the people staying on my floor who noisily returned to their rooms and the special treat of being beset on all sides by a family who were occupied several rooms with their kids...temper tantrums, running up and down the halls, slamming doors while adults and children alike screamed at one another for hours into the early hours of the morning...at 7 am their entirely too familiar sounds also awakened me. While I did call the front desk at some point in the night - the trouble is that iCovid protocols seem to have removed the sound proofing measures, for cleaning purposes the carpet is gone and the furniture is all lightweight and mobile. Noise just slaps around these rooms, so even if you don't get the special treat of being surrounded by a family of shouters, unless you are planning on being stone drunk when you go to bed there is a very good chance you will be awoken every time someone else is going to their room. read more

I would have given this 4 stars but three things stood out. Since COVID I have noticed a general decay in the Hilton brand with less maintenance on elevators and gym equipment and their little markets either not being supplied or having old food. Maybe that is the point of Tru? Well when I was walking down the hall I was literally stopped by the cleanilness and freshness smell of the hallway. I had just come from another Hilton in DC that was very vapey in the hallways and walking down this Tru's hallways was actually a breath of fresh air. It is the cleanest hotel I have stayed at in years. The second thing was the staff. I was traveling during a storm and had to stay in DC the night before since I landed at 2am. I was unable to get to the Tru. I tried calling at 2am but I was also calling a dozen hotels in DC as everything was booked from the storm. While Tru originally charged me for not showing up I was able to talk to them about it and they fixed by reservation. Having a negative experience at the other Hilton this was appreciated. The third aspect I appreciated was their market was fully stocked. Not wanting to drive around in the extreme cold for food I did partially live off the options they had. I do wish they had microwaves in the room. If I have to come back to the area for work, I am definitely staying here. read more

My wife and daughter stayed here for a couple nights while I took my son on a scouting trip to Caledonia state park and Gettysburg. The outside of the hotel looks immaculate, as does the front desk. The rooms are very modern and quite spacious. There are a couple important things that majorly detracted from the experience, especially given the higher price. 1. Pool There are only a limited number of hotels in the area with a pool. The few that have them have pretty bad ratings. This was one of the higher rated hotels, so we paid the extra cost (almost $200 a night) for the luxury. Unfortunately, the pool was quite cold. Not so much that you couldn't get it, but enough that you didn't want to stay in long. With winter quickly approaching and the temperature dropping, who wants to swim in a cold pool? 2. Shower The showers look nice, but have major problems maintaining temperature. After 2 days without a shower, I was looking forward to a long, warm shower. The temperature continually fluctuated, some times too hot and others too cold. It was like when someone at your house flushes the toilet, the temperature drops suddenly and then either returns to the original temperature or higher- but on a much larger scale. I don't know if they neglected to install diverters or what (would regulate the temperature), but taking a consistently warm shower was impossible. Having a cold pool at a hotel might be something I can overlook, but not when you're paying a premium for a room. And not being able to provide consistently warm water seems like a basic that should be provided with any hotel. read more

Late night check in was probably the best service I have had at a Hilton chain. The lady at the front created me with a smile helped secure my bags so I could hurry to get food before the only open place closed. Came back to water popcorn and an extra key card sitting in my luggage. The check in was April 25th and just about midnight. Just having friendliest smile you could tell she took pride in her job. Great Job Hilton on this employee she is a tru rock star. read more

The Chambersberg receptionist was polite and kind. Forgot his name, as I was only passing through, but he represented the company well. These are clean, simple rooms. I like Tru because their hotels are new, big, and usually located in decent areas. This almost guarantees cleanliness and safety. A bit pricey for what you get--which is the bare bones basics. A bed and a bathroom. The fitness room consists of a pull up bar, a box, and some cardio stuff, which is actually not a terrible arrangement for maintaining fitness temporarily. Maybe not the best value option for a long term stay; but if you're passing through an unfamiliar area alone, and you're willing to spend a bit more to guarantee safety and cleanliness, Tru seems to be a good chain to place your bet on. I am always relieved to find one of their locations on the road when it's late, I'm tired, and I just want some peace and quiet. read more
