There are some good things about this hotel. It's generally clean and well maintained. The front…read moredesk folks are generally friendly and helpful (with one exception we'll get to in a minute). It's within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and attractions, and very close to multiple bus lines and the blue line train. There's a lot of storage and space in the room, and having a kitchen is super convenient (don't count on the dishes being clean though, you'll want to re-wash them yourself). The fitness center is very nice and has a lot of options - treadmills, rower, Peloton bike, free weights, etc. And the breakfast area has plenty of seating, so even during crowded times you can find a table. My boyfriend and I were in town to run a race that started and finished at First Ward Park, which is just a couple blocks away, so that was super convenient. But then there's the not so good - the annoying, the bad, and the really bad. First the annoying - you'll notice in the marketing materials for this hotel the frequent appearance of waffles. On the booking site, in photos in the elevator, and even on the walls in the breakfast area. And multiple waffle makers seem to have a permanent place on the counter in the breakfast area. Based on that you would assume there would be waffles at least sometimes at the provided breakfast. You would assume wrong. After being disappointed in the lack of waffles two mornings in a row, and hearing other people ask about them each morning, we asked the breakfast attendant when there might be waffles. Her exact answer: "We have waffles on Fridays and Mondays." Except we there on both a Friday and a Monday, and no there wasn't. Not a single waffle on any of the four mornings we were there. Waffle makers, yes, but never batter to put in them. So if you're deciding between this hotel and another and those photos of waffles at breakfast are luring you into choosing this hotel, beware - there will never be waffles. The bad - the beds aren't great. My boyfriend and I had a king bed, which was handy since we needed the extra room to avoid a spring poking up on one side. And instead of a few different firmness options for pillows they were all the same thin at bedtime and flat as a pancake by morning variety. As a side sleeper, I found one way too thin, and even stacking two together was uncomfortably flat by morning. The comforter and top sheet also barely covered the top of the bed, so with two people underneath it it didn't even fully reach the edges. But then we get to the bathroom. My blood pressure is rising just thinking back to the bathroom. The three lights in the bathroom (over the sink, over the toilet, and over the shower) are all on a motion sensor that you cannot turn off or disable in any way. So if you get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and don't want the lights on to wake you up, too bad. They're all going to come on blindingly bright and jolt you wide awake. But then in the morning, when you'd like them to stay on while you're in the shower, too bad. The sensor apparently doesn't reach the shower end of the bathroom, so your options are either showering in the dark or opening the shower door to wave your arm out to re-trip the sensor every 60 seconds. And you're going to be in that shower for a while, because the water pressure is not great. Slightly more than a trickle, so washing the conditioner out of your hair will take multiple rounds of arm waving if you don't want to be in the dark. And you're going to need to sacrifice one of your hand towels to put at the bottom of the shower, otherwise the trickle of water hitting the metal drain under the showerhead is going to drive you crazy. You can't move the showerhead away from it, and it sounds like someone is banging non-stop on a metal pan right in your ear. And whoever you share a room with can witness all this, since the sliding door to the bathroom has a good inch of a gap between it and the wall and you can see right in when you walk past. We stopped by the front desk after our first night to ask if there was some trick we hadn't discovered to turn off the motion sensor for the lights at night. The reaction of the woman behind the desk? She laughed. Apparently many people have complained about this, but instead of trying to make the situation better they think it's a funny joke? Not the reaction we were expecting. So, despite the good things this hotel has going for it, the main two things I want out of a hotel are good sleep and a good shower, and I didn't get either here. I definitely won't be making a return stay the next time I'm in Charlotte.

I'll start with the one positive: the housekeeping staff is excellent--very kind, hardworking, and our room was clean upon check-in. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. At check-in, we were told extended-stay guests receive housekeeping three times per week and were asked which days we preferred. That schedule never happened. Our room was repeatedly skipped or pushed back due to staffing shortages, with priority given to check-outs. This is not the fault of the cleaning staff, who are clearly overworked, but rather a management issue. This Hilton-brand hotel frequently did not have enough linens to service all rooms. On multiple occasions, staff had to ask guests to turn in dirty towels just so more could be washed. There were also times when kitchen dishcloths and towels ran out before they reached our room. In December, a Hilton brand inspector visited, and management clearly knew ahead of time--there was sudden cleaning and painting. One concerning issue involved breakfast sanitation. Normally, there was one shared gallon of milk for all guests. The day before the inspector arrived, this was replaced with individual milk bottles, only to return to the shared gallon a few days later. Management claimed this was a coincidence, which raises concerns about consistency and sanitation standards. There are many transient workers who stay here, and it appears to be the primary clientele the hotel caters to. If that suits your needs, this may work for you. However, if you expect consistent Hilton standards, I would recommend considering the Holiday Inn Express or Fairfield Inn in Belmont instead.

Disappointing Stay - No Towels, No Housekeeping, No Manager…read more I expected better from a Marriott, but my stay at Spring Hill Suites was shockingly below standard. Despite paying $150 per night, I was told there were no fresh towels available--not just in my room, but anywhere in the hotel. When I went to the front desk to request some, I was informed they were completely out and that no housekeeping staff were available on the weekend to address the issue. To make matters worse, I asked to speak with a manager, only to be told that there wasn't one on-site and that I had to call back on Monday. A major hotel brand should always have an escalation process for guest concerns. The lack of basic amenities and customer service is unacceptable for this price point. If you're considering staying here, be aware that you may not receive basic services like clean towels or weekend housekeeping. I expect better from Marriott and will be escalating this issue.

Thankfully, they moved us to a nearby room, no issues whatsoever. The staff here were amazing during our stay and always friendly. The new room was comfortable, clean, and well stocked. Both rooms had no limitations to their AC temperature which was nice considering my last stay was locked out. I will mention that they put someone else in room 102 and I saw him at the desk for the same reason we switched rooms. Maintenance isn't there on weekends, but it doesn't mean they should book that same room to someone else. For a quick stay in Charlotte, albeit the broken toilet situation, this was a great stay. Though, because they didn't communicate the issue to other staff members and booked the room to someone else, the carelessness makes me want to look elsewhere next time.

I used to really love the Staybridge experience--your hospitality and comfort always stood out to me. However, lately, I've noticed a decline in certain areas that have impacted my stay. The environment now seems to be 420 friendly in a way that feels uncomfortable for some guests. Additionally, the front desk staff I encountered were mean and rude, which was quite disappointing. On top of that, I noticed roaches in the facility, which is a serious concern for cleanliness and guest satisfaction. That said, I want to acknowledge that the General Manager remains a good guy who is always accommodating, and I truly appreciate his efforts. Hydration is key on roadtrips and I don't stop for anything unless absolutely necessary, so that bottle of water upon check in is a welcome reminder to hydrate! It's empty before I even get to the room. Speaking of rooms - I LOVE Tru when I'm on business. The sleek, minimalist designs are just what I need. The fact that the hotel is DOG FRIENDLY makes me SO happy. They allow dogs of all sizes and the rooms (at least ours) are absolutely dog friendly - no carpet! So, if Fido DOES have an accident, it's easily cleaned. That being said, there's no reason your pup should have an accident because there are plenty of dog potty stations complete with baggies and disposal. There's a wide array of snacks and drinks available for purchase and the continental breakfast blew my mind. Gone are the days of stale muffins and mushy fruit! They had egg bites that rivaled Starbucks, Lavazza coffee, biscuits, sausage, toast, cereal, hot tea, and the most amazing little pancake machine that cranks out two pancakes in two minutes. It's so great! One thing I must note is that even though the hotel is dog friendly - there is NO odor. I mean, NONE. This hotel didn't even have the general "hotel smell." It just smelled fresh and clean and it WAS. I spilled some water on the floor and when I wiped it up, the white towel was still just as white as when I put it down there. Clean, clean, clean! No hair in the showers or sinks, not a towel out of place. I hope management treats the cleaning crew like queens and kings, because this hotel is SPARKLING clean. Lastly, I adore that they use Not Radio soaps, lotions, and shampoos. Truly, this hotel has thought of everything you could possibly need and they've made it convenient as well. Half of the outlets in the rooms wouldn't work. The tub and sink drains were broken and the rooms were dated. At breakfast, someone left a couple of pills on the table. The attendant wiped off the table beside them, but left the pills. We threw them away before any children could get them. While we were at breakfast, house keeping had entered our rooms and was stripping beds before we had even checked out. As we are checking out, there was still dried blood on the floor. There was obviously little to no effort to clean it up. If they can't clean up blood borne pathogens in a highly trafficked area, what exactly do they clean??

The only problem was there were two body washes and one conditioner, no shampoo. The room has plenty of outlets. The complementary breakfast was very good, largely because of Michelle, the Breakfast Hostest. The scrambled eggs were the right consistency and hot, breakfast sandwiches were hot, and the bacon crispy. You could tell she takes the extra effort to make sure the breakfast is delicious. She also greets all the guests and make everyone special. So overall, a good stay at a very reasonable price. One glitch that would have made this a bad stay. But Michelle and everything made this a very good experience..
