Without reservation, I recommend Paul to anyone considering learning how to golf. Since my…read morechildhood, I have had many different personal trainers and coaches for various types of exercises- from Pilates to water skiing; still, Paul is the best coach ever for the following reasons. His teaching style/philosophy, professionalism, experience, strong yet encouraging communication style, and organizational style are unequaled in this business. 1. At the beginning of the sessions, he consulted with clients to set a clear and achievable goal and reached the goal by the end of the promised sessions. It was my first time learning how to golf (I started from zero background knowledge/experience, didn't even had a club), and my goal was to get to the point where I can enjoy golfing without sabotaging myself from establishing any bad habits or postures. What I like the most about Paul's teaching style was that he gave me immediate feedback when I was learning 1) grip, 2) stance, 3) backswing, 4) full swing, 5) follow-through, and 6) body turn. This immediate feedback style tremendously helped me not develop any bad habits from the beginning, which I appreciate SO MUCH. Additionally, whenever I had questions, I was able to get my questions answered promptly. Paul shared online and offline (book/media) resources to get his client informed with the correct information. 2. Paul is professional and experienced with appropriate credentials. I firmly believe his professional demeanor and attributes came from his long years of experience as a trainer. Having an adequate amount of knowledge is important as a trainer. The thing is-just because trainers have the knowledge, this doesn't mean they have real-world experience. But, Paul does and gets results for a client. Period. 3. Also, another aspect I really liked about my learning experience with Paul was his clear yet encouraging both verbal and non-verbal communication style. This style also aligns with motivating his clients intrinsically. His empathetic listening as well as the way he gets the information across to clients are top-notch. As a person who speaks English as a third language, I felt lucky to have Paul as my coach because he was patient enough to explain until I understood his cueing. Also, this is more about organizational style: whenever we needed to set up a schedule for following sessions, he shared a google invitation with a client. In this way, both clients and the trainer were able to keep the schedule organized on both ends. Taken together, I am super glad that I was able to learn how to golf from Paul and wish all the best for him and his business. Thank you, Paul!

My husband and I started seeing Paul a little over 6 months ago, just after my husband was…read morediagnosed with type 2 diabetes at the age of 33. We'd been on a downward spiral for several years with our eating habits and lack of exercise, but we had no idea things had gotten that bad. The doctor's diagnosis was actually a blessing in disguise, because it led us to finding Paul. We knew that we needed to see someone who was a nutritionist as well as a trainer, mainly to help my husband with his blood sugar levels. He was great at helping us understand how what we ate would impact us throughout our day, tailoring his advice for a diabetic and a non-diabetic. I'm a bit of a self-professed foodie, so this was the hardest part for me personally. Paul made it easier by forcing me to be accountable for what I was eating and to really examine my nutrition as a whole. Then there is the training...I was a little curious as to how he'd handle me and my husband training at the same time. We're pretty much opposites when it comes to working out. I enjoy it and while I may balk at certain things, I'll generally do them. My husband on the other hand is pretty new to the gym and doesn't really enjoy working out. Paul is an amazing trainer! He's able to motivate both of us equally, pushing us to do more reps/lift more weight than we thought we could. He's great at challenging each of us to get the most out of our sessions. And I can say....it's definitely paid off! We've both gained more muscle and lost more fat than I think we would have been able to on our own (I dropped from 47% down to 33% body fat in 6 months). The overall improvement to our health has been dramatic as well; we both have more energy and make fewer trips to the doctor's office. While we still have a ways to go to hit our goal weights, after seeing what can be accomplished in just 6 months with Paul, we're confident that it will happen!!

I felt trapped in my own body and like there was nothing I could do to get back on track. I was ashamed and embarrassed. The thing that made me come in was reading other reviews that talked about how kind the trainers are here and what a safe space the gym is for people like me - completely inexperienced with strength training and very unfit. I work with Josie and Alexus, both of whom are EXCELLENT at what they do - true professionals and honestly fun to be around and talk to (which helps those killer sets go by in a flash). Alexus has also worked with me on nutrition and macro meal planning, which has really helped me re-learn to eat for fuel for my body, which I respect so much more now. I have never trained with Amir but he learned my name day one and always says hello and compliments my hard work. Everyone is so nice and non-judgmental... please don't hesitate to come here out of worry you 'won't fit in or aren't athletic enough'. I have been SO happy with my progress, but what is truly amazing is that this team worked with me around my very difficult schedule and helped me to improve my fitness without injury, despite me coming in overweight and unexercised for two years. High quality personal training is an investment and you can rest assured your money is well spent with the crew at Thrive. Don't wait to change your life. Stop telling yourself you can't, like I did for far too long. YES YOU CAN, and Thrive Fitness will show you how.

However, the biggest improvement I made with Amir was my outside of the gym. He helped me improve my diet, flexibility, sleep habits, and many more. We have had many great conversations to this day and I'm proud to call him a friend. One of the best phone calls I have ever made was calling Amir!

I went in person to cancel 11 days ago and as far as I can tell, the process isn't even initiated. First was told that they couldn't help me there, I needed to email a location inbox with my request. I did this same day. No response or acknowledgement for a few days, so I followed up with a phone call to check in. Got an apology for the delay from the person I spoke to, and that they were going to personally check with their manager on my request. No response to my email request for another few days, so I followed up by phone again... same story. Person I spoke with said it was unacceptable and they'd check in for me. Absolute crickets. Their excuse is that they just got a new manager? And said they were receiving a lot of phone calls about cancellations because I guess no one is currently responding to the inbox?? Over a week to acknowledge and respond to the request is staring to feel shady, and I wouldn't be surprised if this stretches to over 2 weeks or longer. I am expecting them to honor the date of my request though for what is I believe a 10 day lag for cancellations, and that I should not receive any additional monthly charges.
