The nostalgia alone is worth going! We went last night for the first time since the new owners took over. The popcorn was good and the drinks of course and candy... We didn't particularly like the hamburgers or the pizza. I wish they would fix the speakers because we couldn't get the app to work and I couldn't get the radio station to come in on my phone. We didn't turn on the radio in the truck because it didn't have a back window and we didn't know if we could hear it. We should've checked out a radio from the concession stand to use, but we didn't. But that is a really cool option that they have. The prices are great, and all of the staff members were super friendly and helpful. read more

The newly remodeled concessions stand is definitely a highlight--plenty of tasty food options, quick service, and clean facilities. However, the overall movie experience was frustrating. We arrived early and sat through over an hour of waiting until sunset, which is understandable for a drive-in. But then previews kept looping for another 45 minutes to an hour after they gave a 'few minutes until movie starts' announcement. The movie didn't actually start until 9:45, meaning we were sitting there for nearly two hours before anything began, way after the sun had already set. It felt like there was a lack of awareness or consideration for the audience's time. If they could tighten up the schedule and cut down the endless previews, this place would be a much better experience. As it stands, the concessions are great--but come prepared for a long wait. read more

One of the things I've missed so damn much during the pandemic: going to the movies! Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy lounging on the couch and streaming whatever, whenever. That being said, going to the actual movies is in itself is always a good time. Tru Vu is about a 45-minute car ride from Grand Junction and in a small town on a Saturday night, what else are you going to do? The double feature was very seasonal: "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Addams Family Values". There was a queue of cars waiting to get in when we arrived, after the first movie had begun. Many of the guests had not paid in advance (highly recommend!) so they had to do the transaction at the "front office" and entrance. But once we got our receipt QR code scanned, there was plenty of room for the Subaru to find a good vantage point. It's pretty cool that the old speakers for each parking spot still work! We didn't need to tune to the radio station to hear what was going on. And it's cool that they require all cars to turn off their lights as to not obstruct the view. However, it's hard to eat dinner in a dark car, which is what we tried to do without much success. Next time, eat before the film. That being said, we enjoyed the drive-in experience and it was worth the trip back and forth to do so. read more

What a fun, cool, nostalgic place to go. My hubs and I have been married for 38 years...and we've never gone to a drive-in in all of that time. Not since we were in high school...and that was with different dates. lol We were celebrating my birthday weekend and saw that Delta had this theater. We were giddy! They were showing Empire Strikes Back...which happens to be my husband's favorite Star Wars movie (yes, I was a good wife and gave in...but it was no sacrifice, believe me. I love the movie, too!) The very coolest thing was that, now and then during the evening, he and I would see shooting stars in the sky...plus, the very starry night of that dry area made the screen feel like it had no edge when the "outer space" scenes were happening. It was rather surreal, but a total blast! We felt like teenagers! The only problem with us particularly was, the speaker they provided cut in and out a lot during the movie. Yes, you have a radio station that you can tune into to get the audio, but our newer keyless, push-button-started car would power down after a bit to save the battery. So we tried to rely just on the drive-in speaker (which was also cool, cuz it added to the experience.) When the hubs ran back to the snack bar to let them know about the speaker, they gave us a little portable am/fm radio to use...and it was perfect!! (Gotta give them a valid I.D. in order for them to let you use the radio.) Overall, it was a BLAST!! And it was well attended as well...probably about 50 cars. Our movie started at 7:45 pm, but the gates opened at 7. When we got there, we were third in line and cars started lining up behind us quite soon thereafter. So if you want your pick of spots, get there a little bit before the gate opens. And be nice to the ticket seller lady...she kinda acts like she's been working there these many decades the theater has been open. :-) read more

Nostalgia...it's a cool thing. Double feature picture show! Everyone should experience a drive-in theater! We are lucky to have two on the Western Slope. The Tru-View Drive In theater is one of my daughter's favorite places to come to. The staff is friendly and the old-fashioned drive in speakers are cool. The popcorn is delicious! Not a fan of the food, so we skip that. The movies? Tru View does a great job showing the new releases and usually pretty good about having a kid-friendly movie for the first showing. The movies start at dusk, with about three to five minutes before movie one and two, so expect a long night. The first two rows are reserved for passenger cars. Many people sit in the back of their trucks or in lawn chairs. Everyone, in my experience, is respectful of their neighbors and fellow movie watchers. They accept CASH ONLY for entrance ($8.50 per adult, 11 & under free...I think) and concessions, so bring some! The place is a little run down but the experience is old fashioned fun. read more

A nostalgic place to take the kids. We always have fun, get there early for a good spot.

We have gone there a number of times. It is fun to go- bring bug spray and lawn chairs if you wish. Buying snacks helps keep them going, which is worthwhile since there aren't too many drive-ins yet. It is always fun to take someone who has never been to one. read more

This was my first drive in movie and it was such a great experience! Super cute and not crowded. Very affordable prices with the tickets and concessions. Delicious popcorn! I'm sad that the season is over and can't wait to come back in Spring! read more

always all my life loved drive ins and never had one problem at one till i went to this one. been in colorado for 2 years now and my 1st time going down there was such a waste of time. to start my trip off i had to ask a coworker to switch shifts with me so i could go that night (sat) and not take all the kids down there on sunday when i was off cause they had school. next i had to prep my truck with a full tank, my big ass solar bat just to have a backup just in case, and spent an hour pulling door panels off to try and fix it so i could shut my headlights off when i got there. we took the hour drive from junction down after stopping at walmart for snacks and chairs get there, pay and park. set a tarp up cause its raining and get settled in. movie has started and let me tell you, one of the worst places for a drive in to be next to street lights, a highway with car lights hitting the screen, buildings with lights and a fucking train right there with poor light on the screen. but i said fuck it, im here kids are happy we are making the best of it and enjoying the time out. trucks all set up and i sit down after spending 30 mins looking for the plug to make the chime stop going off so i can leave my doors open to hear better in the bed of my truck. i sit down and not 5 mins later a old woman that works there? walks up to me and tells me to turn it down the bass is too loud. (in comparison, i have a 10'' woofer and a 250 watt amp to it. it sounds like any newer car you buy now a days with a stock system) it wasnt distorted or even making the truck rattle and sound bad. sounded clean and good like you would hear if you went to a real move theater. we turn it down some. 3 mins later a younger guy walks over and says turn the bass off he has had complaints. i asked for a refund so i could leave they said no so we finished one move and left. no sign sayn you cant have bass there and never ever did i have a problem at any other places with 4 12'' woofers in the back of my camaro at a drive in. i think the old woman didnt like it and dont think anyone said anything about it to them. if i didnt want to hear the movies with good sound i could of drove my pos honda with half blown speakers and saved 30 bucks in gas. but i guess thats what they wanted at there shitty drive in. from now on ill waste my money at a real theater and pay for the kids so we have a better time with real good sound. the kicker of it all is when the 11 year old asked what was going on, then said isnt the point of going to a movie like this to have good sound with bass like at the indoor theaters? why does he get it but the old woman doesnt? ITS 2014! we dont have mono speakers anymore! grand junction will be getting a drive in so no worries, less money for them and a closer drive for me! read more
