Jordan took his time making sure to get Sadie's paw print just right before making it person me . Paul Hernandez is by far one of the best artist I have worked with. His work is worth every penny. I was recommended to Paul by a friend when I was looking for an artist that would tackle an upper back cover up that many other artists told me it would have to be a super dark black and gray piece for it to even work. Not an easy task. Paul took it on and gave me something above and beyond what I was expecting. Absolutely killed it. So of course when I was ready for my next piece I hit up Paul. And of course another stellar piece. He's been my only artist for the last 4isb years and over 20+ tattoos and counting. Paul is down to earth, very attention to detailed, and will be honest with you about your design and how it will sit on your skin if it needs changes. He cares about his work and never just tattoos to tattoo for the money. He takes pride in the pieces he puts his name on. His line work is top notch, black and gray work? always on point, has an eye for the perfect shading. Bright bold colors? Not a problem, his color paring is always amazing. Had to get some new jewelry for some of my piercings. The other piercing shop up the street was extremely busy and only had one guy working. I decided to walk down the street to this shop. There were two guys working here who I believe were solely tattoo artist. They didn't know much about the piercings I was asking for but still allowed me to purchase them. Usually at other shops they have a separate person for piercings. I bought one septum piercing because I was unsure of the other size jewelry I needed. The septum ring cost me $15 dollars which might have been expensive or cheep. Not quite sure how pricing works. Happy that I was able to buy one there in the span of five minute. I saw that an artist named Brittney Haili was doing a guest spot at this location, and I had been recommended to her by an artist at Black Lantern OC - wanting to get a new tattoo before a trip to San Diego, I found the spot and her IG handle and set up an appointment. I wasn't too sure about what I wanted, although I was looking for a tattoo to honor my grandpa who's the orneriest fisherman I know. He's taught me so much over the years and I'm blessed that we can continue to go on our 3-day tuna hunting trips once a year. Brittney killed it. I am in love with this design, especially on such short notice. The linework and the color/shading is FANTASTIC. She hasn't chosen a shop yet or found a place to settle down (She's a Seattle transplant) but overall the vibe @ True At Heart was amazing. I visited the Lake Forest True At Heart location in Sept 2018. I walked in with the vision of 2 hearts in my kids birthstone colors. Jason Grant told me he couldn't get 2 hearts exactly the same so I agreed to two slightly different, bubbly looking hearts. I was happy with the hearts when I got them initially. After a while they felt flat to me. They needed something more. Sept 2019 I went back to the Lake Forest location and was referred back to Jason, now at the Dana Point location. I was told out of respect for his work, they wouldn't work me unless he wasn't available. I text him and he was very responsive and I booked an appointment for that following weekend. My first complaint was the red heart wasn't red. It looked pink to me and I was told "no, that's red." I told him my vision for some shading so the hearts would have some pop. He said he always recommends black outlining.... Except he didn't the previous year. He suggested a thin bit of black shading. I told him I didn't see his vision but I was trusting him as the artist.... I walked away absolutely hating what the artist did. I thought maybe I'd look better once it healed.... I was wrong. This past week I text Jason on Wednesday evening and he didn't bother to respond at all. How an artist can straight up ignore a clearly unhappy client is beyond me. It was so unprofessional. I gave him almost a week before posting this review. His work on my hearts was subpar and he didn't stand by it. Thanks to a friend with a great shop recommendation, I had the tattoo reworked last night and I absolutely love it again. read more

Had a friends nose piercing done yesterday with Wesley. (As a surprise to her) I've done my tattoos and some piercings there so I recommend them. We went, got seen right away and Wesley was extremely professional. Explained what was going on and had us verify placement. Piercing was quick and fluid. I live in Los Angeles, a place that it littered with tattoo shops, but there's a reason that I drive all the way to Dana Point to get my work done! I've been seeing Paul for several years now, & not only is his work impeccable, but he's completely open to whatever ideas I have, & always throwing in his suggestions so that everything comes out absolutely perfect! Would not recommend this place. I went in with a girlfriend to get an outline of a heart on my our wrist. I was the size of a dime (and just an outline!) Paul Hernandez was the artist. He charged us EACH $100. I was shocked. I have had many tattoos and have never been charged that much on such a small tattoo. I should have asked the price. I got my nose pierced here last week and had to take it out just two days after getting it because of the jewelry that they used. The piercer also tried to pierce my nose without showing me where he marked it, and when I did see where he marked it, it was super low and off to the side. He remarked it two more times before telling me that that's where it was supposed to be. I went to a different piercer a week later and they told me he had placed it completely wrong. The piercer also told me to use alcohol to clean it, which was a red flag because as someone with many piercings, I know you are only supposed to use saline solution or soft soap.
