Calling all curly heads! Here, just outside the historic village of Lancaster, is a unique and…read morelovely salon, a renovated period house with artistic touches aplenty -- that offers a HAVEN for us curly girls in the form of DevaCurl trained professionals and DevaCurl styling products. This was my first visit, but certainly not my last. It's a warm and welcoming salon/spa that could easily be on Elmwood Avenue, only the parking is easier. It's a Clean Air Facility where an exchanger makes for a salon experience free of strong chemical odors. And it's true, the place was immaculate, cozy, odor-free and fresh. Denise was kind and compassionate and listened to my concerns. She took time with me and carefully looked over my hair and curl pattern, while discussing the premise of the DevaCurl way of caring for, cutting, and styling curly hair. This isn't just a product line Minks Salon promotes to bring in business -- they really have an interest in and talent for working with curly hair. When searching for a stylist, most salons claim that EVERY stylist in their place is skilled in cutting curly hair, but THAT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. Denise knows exactly what she's doing and just how curls are structured and how to groom them, since curly hair is quite different than other hair textures. Denise is proficient at working with curly hair, and could hardly curb her enthusiasm for creating magic with her technique and products. She takes great joy in what she does and loves seeing the transformation of a girl rocking her curls. It was a most pleasant experience. If you're like me and hesitant to have someone new cut your curly hair, rest assured, you're in good scissor-hands at Minks Salon.

She said to come over and I tried showing her what I wanted and she didn't even look just said yep lay back. I haven't gotten my hair cut in 5 years. It's long, healthy and I don't put any heat in it. I told her this. I should've left knowing she didn't even see what I wanted to get cut. But I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I sat down and she shuffled the other girl she was working on to the sink while working on me. ALSO she put me in the same chair as the other girl she was working on. Super unsanitary. Literally just switched us. She pulled my hair so hard when she was brushing it and anyone who knows wet hair is delicate. She yanked and pulled so hard trying to brush it fast and I was in so much pain. Again benefit of the doubt. Then comes the cut. She blowdries and straightens my hair. I TOLD HER I haven't used heat on my hair in 5 years. My hair smelled burned after she was done. The burn smell lasted for hours after I left the salon I had to wash my hair at home just to get it out. Horrified I see the result. I asked for a cute bang and she gave me what I could've done at home and I'm not kidding it's trash. Honestly I had an amazing experience with the owner sometime last year who took the time to tell me to grow out my bangs a bit more so she can cut them just to come back and have Shauna give me the worst cut of my life. NEVER EVER COMING HERE AGAIN. Bad vibes. Trash cut. -1/10 would never ever recommend this place to anyone. Ever.

L P N is a hair salon. It's not a spa. The ladies who work here work on hair, and that's it…read more For years I have been a customer of the lady who owns this establishment, and I love her and her ladies. They are talented, lively (in a very good way), friendly, and down to Earth. They have a way to connect with their clients and figure out their clients' interests, wants, and needs. Their goal is to have their customers walk out satisfied and with beautiful hair, not to weasel more money out of their customers. In fact, the prices that they set for their services are quite clear-cut and reasonable, especially for their talent. These ladies will be the first to say when a request is not reasonable, when they don't have the skills to make a style request happen, or when they think a style wouldn't suit their patron's facial structure, complexion, or lifestyle. When any of these situations happen, they will willingly suggest more reasonable solutions that will still fulfill their clients' wishes and needs. They are the only hairstylists I personally have met who constantly and eagerly seek to learn new techniques. Hair is their passion, and it shows in their attitude. My hairstylist was recommended to me by my husband, who in turn was referred to her by his dad. Today, pretty much all of my husband's immediate family members are her clients, and we're all happy customers. She is the only hairstylist I have ever been a patron of who I can tell with confidence, "Do whatever you feel like today. Have fun with my haircut." In fact, I have given her free reign regularly, and everytime I do so, she gifts me with a fresh new look that looks good, makes me look good, and still fits my lifestyle so that I can easily maintain the hairstyle until I see her again. A few tips. One, if you're a new customer or a non-regular, call to make an appointment at least a couple weeks in advance. Two, give your entire hair history honestly when asked. These ladies won't judge but your hairstylist will need your hair's full history in order to make your requested hairstyle happen. Three, if you have special hair concern or need, let your hairstylist know so she can help you address it.

Elle Salon is amazing for two reasons: 1) they cut my hair well (after a lifetime of bad haircuts) and 2) they do an excellent job with color. Until coming to Elle Salon, I've never had my hair colored. And it is jet black. I went in with the criteria "I want it to be a brownish red", not knowing anything about coloring, that dark hair is harder to dye, or which colors go well with which skin tones, etc. But Stacy helped me through the whole process. She told me what to expect, showed me a whole bunch of color swatches that matched my incredibly vague description, explained how certain colors fade and might look funny against my skin tone 6 months down the road...in short, she was amazing. We settled on a subtle allover brown that I was very happy with. So happy, in fact, that when I decided I wanted highlights, I went back to her. I've never had a hair salon experience as good as this, where the stylist really listens to what I want and adds her expertise to create a look that I love. I basically trust her enough to go in and say "do whatever you think will look good". In addition to doing a great job with my hair, their prices are very reasonable. Last time I went for a color touch up, highlights, and a trim, and it was $110. Appointments can be made online at their website, where you select the date, service, and stylist you want. And they even send you a nice reminder email to let you know your appointment is coming up! I live in Elmwood Village and this place is in Depew, but it is 100% worth the drive! Although I've only gone to Stacy, the other clients here all seem really happy when they leave, and the business seems to have a pretty steady clientele. All in all, I highly recommend Elle Salon, and if you want to get your hair colored, Stacy is your girl!
