Would I order it again, no. For my main I went with the Lamb Kebab in Pita. Grilled lamb, lettuce, tomato, parsley, onions, and a light hummus spread. The lamb was a little chewy but the flavors of the fresh vegetables and the seasoned lamb blended well together. I am not always the biggest fan of hummus and find that it tends to be too gritty for my texture pallet. However, this spread was mixed with a creamy sauce of some kind that really brought out the flavor without that grittiness that you sometimes find in hummus. The food came out fast, from the time we sat down till we finished our food it was just under an hour. So overall a good experience. When it came time to pay, we never received an itemized bill, we were just given a total. Later on, doing the math, we found that for the two bills at our table, both were considerably different than the prices listed on the menu, even after adding on the standard 6% tax. Based on the differences, we can only assume that the prices listed on the menu and website are no longer the actual price of the meal. Or, both our bills just happened to be messed up. We can't really say. But that alone for me changed this from a 5 star experience to a 3. The Grill is listed as a 5.2 currently on my Beli, and again, for me I do not like transparency on pricing or total charges but the food itself and the ambiance is a really nice experience.

If we weren't racing the next morning, I definitely would have tried one of their cheesecakes. The blueberry and pistachio both looked incredible, and judging by the quality of everything else, I'm sure they would have been just as amazing. Before we left, we spent a few minutes talking with the husband, and it only reinforced how much pride they take in what they do. Allentown is lucky to have a restaurant like this. I was invited to see an acoustic duo at True Blue last night. I had never been there but have recently been introduced to Mediterranean food. I tried three things that I have never had before. 1. Grape Leaves - These were so good. Rice and beef cooked in lemon lamb. They were served with a white dipping sauce and I loved them. 2. Kibbie - A large grilled patty filled with ground beef, fine chopped onions and pine nuts. It was very good as well. 3. Falafel Patties Mashed garbanzo beans with falafel spices served on a plate with shredded lettuce, tomato and Mediterranean pickle. The Falafel and the Grape leaves were my favorite. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. The server was very friendly an always smiled. The chef come out to talk to us and answer our questions about his menu. Based on the positive reviews here, I gave True Blue several tries, each time thinking I must be there on an off night. In the end, I have to say I am less than impressed. I've eaten in many Middle Eastern restaurants, and this would not rank anywhere near the top. The cauliflower with lemonaize sauce is tasty, yes, and if you go there I would recommend it over other things I've tried. I found the chicken in my wrap to be very fatty and the hummus was inedible, tasteless pap. I will say that the service was very friendly. I wish the owners the best, but they need to kick the quality of the ingredients up a notch. read more

The food was not horrible by any means, but I felt that at that price point it was merely mediocre. I am not sure if it had to do with the fact that my friend and I went during restaurant week, but I felt really rushed to not only finish my meal, but that the food was even prepared in a rush merely because I was there for restaurant week. I most certainly do not regret going, because for the institution that it is one should most certainly eat here once in their life. Whether I will return is an entirely different story. read more

I'm no stranger to classics like babaghanoush, falafel, hummus, and stuffed grape leaves make an apperance but they are so well-seasoned and flavorful that it feels like something new...It's nice to know tradition and quality still mean something to the chef/owners behind the independently spirited True Blue; it's even better to know that this restaurant is practically in my backyard. read more

Love, love, love this place! The chicken, steak and shrimp gyros are all amazing and so is the fried cauliflower which is my favorite. We love coming here during the summer when we can sit outside and it is BYOB or getting take out. So glad we have this place close by to us. read more
