I had been looking forward to this appointment for over a month. I had previously seen Jess twice and loved the quality of her haircuts, which is why I was willing to wait and pay nearly $100 (before tip) for a haircut. Because I have very long, thick hair, I repeatedly communicated to both Jess and the salon that I needed a full two-hour appointment. I mentioned it through Instagram, reminded the front desk when my appointment was scheduled and rescheduled, and even confirmed it again when they asked me to move my appointment time. Each time I was assured there would be enough time. When I arrived early for my 4:30 appointment, Jess was still finishing another client. Instead of greeting me or having a consultation, an assistant came to take me for a shampoo. Since I planned to donate my hair and had decided on a significant cut, I asked if we could do a consultation first and cut the ponytail before washing. The assistant left to get Jess. Jess then approached me in the front of the salon while still working on another client and, in front of employees and other guests, immediately questioned what I wanted to do with my hair. The conversation felt rushed and uncomfortable, especially since we hadn't discussed the haircut yet. For such a significant change, I expected a private consultation with my stylist before anything else. By the time I finally sat in her chair, I explained that I felt embarrassed by how the interaction had been handled. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, I was told the goal had simply been to save time because my appointment would likely run past closing. From my perspective, I had done everything I could to communicate that I needed extra time well in advance, so it was disappointing to feel like my appointment had become an inconvenience. At that point I no longer felt comfortable trusting someone who seemed rushed and frustrated to make a major change to my hair, so I chose to leave without receiving any services. The most disappointing part wasn't that I left without a haircut--it was the lack of professionalism throughout the experience. A consultation for a major haircut should never feel rushed or happen publicly while a stylist is still working on another client. I walked in excited for an appointment I had waited weeks for and left feeling embarrassed instead. To make matters worse, no one from the salon reached out afterward to ask what happened or try to resolve the situation. Instead, I found that Jess had blocked me on her professional Instagram account. I genuinely believe Jess is a talented stylist, which makes this experience even more disappointing. It started out very nice. Mani pedi, pleasant atmosphere. I left feeling like I missed some of the experience. No massage w manicure and very little w pedicure. Went for a two week mani change when the gel came off, BLACK NAILS! Fungus! Removed gel, cut down and filed. picked up fungus cure and tea tree oil. Will see my dermatologist this week. Just AWFUL. After reading the reviews on Yelp, I made an appointment here. We stopped in person to check out the salon first, and speak to someone about my hair. The place is large, bight and clean. I've been trying to get my hair corrected from a botched coloring at another salon for a year. Amanda did an excellent job. While still not quite the color I want, to match my photos as my hair used to be, she did a good job of listening to what I wanted. It's my first time for using Paul Mitchell products. The blonde highlights are done well, and my hair is very soft and a great texture. I would go to Amanda again, just tweak the color a bit more to brighten it up. read more

I was shocked and felt violated. No one should be treated this way. Honestly I was so bewildered I did not know how to respond. I had made a nail appointment in conjunction with my regular hair appointment. The first time I would use this salon for nails. I was looking forward to weaning myself from the acrylics I've been using at a different salon and getting my nails done more naturally here each time I got my hair done. When I made the appointment I told them that I was going to be soaking off acrylics and that should have been their heads up. All seem to be going well I was soaking off - we discussed colors and then she stepped away and then the soaking off of the acrylics turned into almost 45 minutes of soaking off with very little interaction and I was pretty much just left alone. Then kind of out of the blue she comes back and says oh and I have bad news it's time for my next appointment you've run out of time and if you want to finish your manicure you'll have to come back at the end of the day or another day. I was so shocked I absolutely couldn't imagine someone saying this to me. I clarified made sure I understood. And then asked for a manager hoping to reconcile the situation certainly I thought I could pay for the additional time that they obviously hadn't taken into account and get finished but after waiting for the manager for more than another 10 minutes still soaking I wiped off my hands and packed up my bag and went to the desk and asked to pay for my hair bill. I let them know I had no intention of paying for the nails. Talking about it to the "manager" they absolutely never said that they were sorry or took any responsibility. It was sort my my fault for coming from another salon. News flash-- just about any customer you gain will come from a different salon. After coming to the desk someone said oh "I can finish you, she just didn't know I was here". They should have developed a plan before they let me stew and wait there. They seemed totally happy to let me walk out the door with even the acrylic not all the way off my hands. I honestly was in total shock I felt like I was abused. Violated. Any nail salon I have ever been to scheduled some extra time for soaking off acrylics. They were trained enough to understand they they needed more time and understood the process for removal. Sometimes a salon will have two or three people soaking off acrylics while the nail stylist is doing one's manicure. Think multitask! Granted this salon does not work with acrylics but should have at least understood and had enough skill to know they needed to schedule more time or the sense to say they didn't want to take the job. I was grateful to be able to walk out the door and go back to my original nail person who repaired their problem within 15 minutes. So sad. I'm was looking forward to having my nails and hair done in the same place. It seemed otherwise like a bright and clean place my hair appointments had always gone well. Poor management. Not enough skill. Interestingly they've always sent me a cute little texts to ask me how my day went at their place. I have not received any this time!!! read more

My hair looks HORRIBLE!!! The stylist was enthusiastic and nice. We looked at a pic of color which I told her I don't usually do because I have naturally blonde hair. Wanted a different look, brighter and beachy. My hair naturally looks like that. Now I have dried out, frizzy, uneven hair, with skunk stripes that looks so much worse than it did when I came in, worse than it ever has, ever! $200 down the drain, I Look ridiculous, and my hair is SO fried I'm afraid to get it fixed, which I expect to cost another couple hundred bucks. I was stuck in Vero during Hurricane Sandy so in an effort to not go entirely stir crazy, I decided to try out a new salon. I went in for highlights, lowlights and a haircut. I asked for a senior stylist and was paired with Colette. With 25 years of experience, she was nothing short of wonderful. Extremely thorough in her explanations, she listened patiently to what I was looking for (pictures are always helpful), offered color samples so I knew exactly what I would be getting, and went over pricing as well. Though I have straight hair, she is the queen of curls here so if that's what you have, she's your girl. The salon itself is pretty great. It's in a sort of deserted plaza so I'm sure it goes unnoticed fairly often but inside is lovely and it offers quite the variety of services. They have a great filtration system so it's not at all stuffy or stinky. The front desk associate also turned out to be the owner and gave me a tour of the entire salon which was nice. Also worth noting, they have not only basic refreshments (water, soda, juice, coffee) but also beer, wine and snacks. Would definitely recommend. read more

My husband had cut my hair during COVID-19, so when the pandemic seemed to be abating in Florida, I went to have the cut cleaned up and evened out. Results were awful. I enjoyed the most incredible facial with Tracy whose experience and professionalism was noted as I used to work as a Salon Coordinator in Greenwich, CT. She also introduced me to a fantastic new line of products - which I desperately needed! Then, I had my hair cut with Candace and it is without question the best haircut I've ever gotten!!! I actually called my mom this morning and said I didn't mind having curly hair for the first time in my life. I walked into the cutest full service salon. People were getting color, hilights, and pedicures. CK cut my hair and updated my growing out short hair and added texture and a cute updated look. I also bought some great Paul Mitchell products that I love to style my hair with. The mani/pedi was awesome, but when I went for my massage they changed it from a head massage to a regular massage,I was so disappointed but they told me I would have to wait 20 min or do a regular massage. They were already late for my appointment and I had another appointment. So I said I'd do regular massage but explained I was disappointed. Massage was good, I checked out and again told them of the mixup, "oh well", my problem. Fast forward to now, we received our credit card statement and to our surprise we were charged 2 times for the services! Two weeks prior to having Dee cut and color my hair, I had a lengthy half an hour consult with her. She suggested a couple of subtle changes to my then-current style (which I loved). Rather than an all over color, she suggested very heavy highlighting. Not being a professional myself, I agreed, after asking quite a few questions, as I have natural blonde hair. Then I booked an appointment for said hair cut and color. During the consult, Dee took extensive notes on what I wanted. When I sat in her chair for the cut and color, we again went over what I wanted and what her suggestions were. She then went back to mix up the color for the highlights. She did a heavy all-over highlighting of my hair, including the ends, which were very fragile, due to sun exposure, prior coloring, etc. I then sat under the dray for 25 minutes. Then the shampoo and the cut. As Dee began to cut, I began to panic inside. It appeared that she was cutting off more than we agreed to - I have short hair already, and she cut off 2 1/2 inches - which was not what we had discussed. Then after she dried and styled my hair it was obvious to all that she had done far more than I had asked and far more than we had agreed to. I did say something to the owner as I paid and left - very unhappy. The next day I called to followup and the owner agreed to refund the cost of the cut only. I took that offer. UPDATE: Once I returned to Norfolk, VA, I consulted with my regular salon. I got two unbiased opinions - one from my regular stylist and one of the head master designer of the salon. Neither stylist consulted with the other, but both came with the same opinion - as a result of Dee at True Colors Salon and Spa overprocessing my hair, she tried to cover up her mistake by restyling it and cutting off the damaged ends - 2 1/2" worth! And not only had she tried to hide her mistake but she had cut my hair unevenly, leaving blatant "chunks" showing. I had to have a restructuring treatment and a conditioning mask applied by my home salon, and then my hair was cut (just a teeny bit) to even out what Dee had done. I will NEVER return to True Colors Salon in Vero Beach, FL. They are one of the shoddiest salons that I have ever been too, and their lack of integrity is one of the main reasons. If you make a mistake, own up to it, admit it to the client. I may have been upset, but at least I would not have been so shocked at the end result. read more

I have never been to this salon - its lovely. The setting is great and the service at front desk is terrific. I requested a senior colorist and I am a little disappointed in the outcome. I gave her my "prescription" and my hair is much darker than usual. I still have color stains on my brows and scalp. I really like this Salon so i would advise just a little more attention to the application of hair color. I love the coffee/tea/wine/soda which is offered. There was in about 30 minutes, which I didn't mind waiting. Had Kelli as my nail tech. Very professional with helping me pick out the gazillion colors they had on display. Pedicure was very relaxing, great foot massage!! Got a little cut on the big toe. No big deal, didn't freak out about it. Was taken care of. Would have given this salon 4 stars, but when asked about nail art for my finger, was told no as another appointment was booked. I think it could have been completed. Even though I was a walk-in, I have had my fair share of waiting while the current customer was getting finished be it walk-in or appointment.
