Deena is the BEST instructor with her additions of spicy movements and modern takes on the Pilates classes. She really knows how to target key core abdominal muscles and work every single muscle to the bone. Her music taste is impeccable, her personality and heart are so pure, and her teaching is pristine. They take the time to correct your form, which I truly appreciate because form always comes first (weights second!). I've also taken classes with Jason, Erin, and Masha, and had great experiences with each of them. One thing I love is that every instructor offers options--light, medium, or more advanced "spicy" variations--so you can tailor each workout to your level. I can confidently say: book a class--you won't be disappointed. Bonus: the community here is incredible. People are genuinely friendly--I've made a few friends just from attending different classes, which says a lot about the atmosphere at PowerCore.

I had an appointment in Encino and decided to take a class at the Sherman oaks location. I had the pleasure of having Chris as my instructor. Although the class was only a level one it was pretty challenging while still being fun and enjoyable. Chris was excellent at giving clear concise directions and fixing form in a way that was helpful. The studio is clean, beautiful and well stocked. First of all, the studio is difficult to find as it's hidden behind a dog training facilities off of Ventura Blvd. Once you do find the studio, you walk into a janky looking studio with a couple sad looking reformers and outdated machines. There's zero ambiance in the studio and it could definitely use a paint job and a facelift. Christina, whom I assume is the studio owner and the only instructor at the studio, is lackluster, unfriendly, and dry. Her attention to each students form comes off as nitpicky and it actually made me angry during her class. The workout itself is a reflection of the studio and the owner-blah. I think I got more of a workout walking from my car to the studio than I did in the class. After taking three classes there, I've noticed they're basically all the same and there's no diversity in the routine. I've been doing Pilates for over six years and I've gone to a lot of different studios and this one is by far the worst. I really wanted to like it here but unfortunately it's just not the case. Id definitely recommend checking out other studios in Sherman Oaks because there's a lot better places to do Pilates than at Reforming Pilates Bodies.
