I'm from California. I was visiting my daughter & son-in-law in Sweetwater. We were shopping @H.E.B. The menu @Tru Texas Bbq was enticing so I decided to buy lunch. What a treat!! Went there Last Saturday, it was Delicious! I had the two meat plate, and two sides! I ask for Lean Brisket and the Fatty Brisket as my meat choices, and Potatoes Salad and the Brisket Beans! The Brisket was so tender and had a great smoke ring and the perfect rub, on the out side! I don't live in Odessa and was kinda throw off when my suggested we eat there! Sure glad we Did, I loved every bite! My Husband had the three meat with Brisket, sausage, and ribs! He was well pleased with his choice but I didn't care so much for sausage and glad I went with the Brisket! We had soda to drink and it was really good too! I can't Believe this was HEB! I have been wanting to try HEB bbq for a long time and today I got my chance. I'm sure the quality varies significantly from store to store and day to day. It wasn't the worst I've ever had, not even close. It was decent. It did not look or taste as if it was fresh. I came in at 12:30 there were about 20 or so eating lunch. The brisket was very dry and was hard to eat until I bathed it in bbq sauce. Would I give them another chance? Yes, particularly since I had read such good reviews about their bbq but not anytime soon. read more

What a pleasant surprise to find good Texas BBQ in a grocery store. Who would of thunk it. Lol I had the chopped brisket, fatty brisket, beans, potato salad and a bud light. The chopped brisket has a nice spice to it, the fatty brisket melted in my mouth, the beans were tasty, the potato salad was ahh and the beer wasn't that cold. When they first opened it was great but has steadily gone downhill. Today I got a sliced brisket sandwich that had a bun ripped in half .The size of a small biscuit. Two slices of onion bigger than the bread and two pickles were just thrown on top of the small piece of bread . Anyone who was fixing this sandwich should have known this wasn't right. This Barbeque restaurant is by far the best your going to get in this town. The smoked turkey is very good with an actual smoke ring. The Brisket "moist" is very good and tender. My only problem is the employees need to learn how to slice the brisket first. "Slice against the grain". Haven't had the ribs get because that are always sold out when I get a chance to go. Get there early. This place will be a hit with football season and boxing events coming up. Hope they start making more food. Plus it's inside the new HEB. Can't get any better than that. read more

My wife and love it here and we love heb. Smokey tender brisket. It's smoked overnight they do a good job here. I haven't tried the ribs but I will eventually. The pulled pork sandwich is good too. It's about average pricing for bbq around here not to bad. It's worth it. read more

Staying overnight in Odessa, we decided to have dinner delivered. First time eating here and we are not impressed. Ordering only allowed through food delivery app -Favor - and the app is very vague on how to order and on final amount. Back to the restaurant... when driver arrived to the restaurant to place order, I got a call from the driver (who was a lady) saying TTB was out of a side. Fine, I made an sub. Then I was called again by her and told TTB was out of the meat we ordered. Fine, SECOND sub. I paid for the order which included an auto tip for the driver. Took normal delivery time to arrive to our room. Driver, (a man) who was different than who I spoke to on phone arrived with child in tow, and waited until I gave him a SECOND tip! Okay fine again, he did me a huge favor! Go to open our food and the sides were wrong that I had ALREADY substituted AND the meat was wrong on the other meal than what we ordered on the meat we subbed!!! I have tried this place 3 times since they opened and each time it just got progressively worse. We have gotten rancid green beans, potato salad that has gone sour and another time we ordered sliced brisket. What we got was fat and gristle with a little bit of brisket attached. All i can say is get you sum ! my wife and I have spent well over 300$ over the past 4 or 5 months here. Every time we have recieved consistent moist brisket with good smoke , a killer bark and dry rub crust also, perfectly smoked st louis style ribs every time along with a free loaf of bread and fixins ! Needless to say finally i dont have to slave over my smoker for hrs to eat some true smoked meats around odessa any longer. True texas bbq has damn near put my smoker clean out of bussiness ! I tried this spot because there was a many awesome reviews about it. Though I was not content with the food. I tried a brisket sandwhich, this made me really sick and it was really greasy. The proportion of this meal was awful. Also the prices are not great. I have slow cooked a brisket and made a way better sandwhich for way less and more meat. I never would try this spot ever again. Overall true texas bbq is not what it used to be. I was waiting to get service, while the associates just stood there in the back in a group. I arrived about 7pm, there was not much product to choose from. No pulled pork, no ribs, only brisket to choose from which I settled. I was also wanting to get dessert, which to my disappointment there wasn't any. I was planning to place a big order, however, there was not much product to choose from. Very disappointed. me and my wife wanted BBQ and we were rite in the area from Carlsbad nm and we got there a little before the lunch run and paid 34$ for two take out plates I got 2 meat she got 3 meat her chicken was fresh and she said it tasted good she got one piece of brisket which she was ok but the pulled pork was rancid unable to eat and was discolored looked like 3 day old left overs u could tell green beans were leftovers mixed with new I got brisket which I asked the woman at counter you only gave me ONE piece!!!! she said it was in the weight limit I told her that's not what your brochure shows she said she was sorry and I could buy more, it was dried out and u could tell it was left over when I tried to eat it, also the sausage link was a dried out reheated so bad I just threw it out and green beans were terrible your food sux its over priced your skimpy on what you sever and you false advertise because what you show is not what u get I will not be back read more
