Not comin' here again. Waited 20m for our food. Now, I understand if turkey's not Rockin's strongest item on the menu...it's on the menu! Please take 'some' time to cook it so that it's juicy and tasty. If not, don't serve it at all. And that's not even the worst part. Absolutely amazing!!! Got the steak finger dinner with fried okra and Mac n cheese. It was delicious!!! My kids got a hamburger and inhaled it!!! The okra was fried to perfection and the Mac n cheese was gooey cheesy yumminess!!! Husband also had the steak finger dinner and got the smokehouse beans! The brisket I. The beans was sooo tender and full of flavor!! Definitely gonna make this a regular spot to go out and eat!! Staff was incredibly patient and helpful !!! I used to love eating here when I was a kid and I've noticed it's been declining. Today was the absolute worst food I have ever had from here. Clearly it was leftovers from the day before (which is no big deal) but the ribs smelled rotten and tasted like fish!! It even had a greenish gray color under the meat. It's not worth the talk. Barely was worth the 2 stars i gave it. Maybe it was the day we went, or the time we went that dictated the suck. Who knows. First off to begin my rant, the cashier billed us wrong. Can't really tell that until we pay for it and see the receipt. Then, I waited 5 minutes standing at the pick up section to get some dressing. Which was plenty of time for my fries to get cold and stale. No I'm not being over dramatic because my husband even said his was cold and stale when we get them. I ordered the Sliced brisket sandwich, it was bone dry and bland. No seasoning, no juice, no taste. I had to smother it in bbq sauce. I don't even like bbq sauce but that was the only flavor I had to give it. My husband ordered pull pork plate and a chop beef sandwich. What he got was a chop beef plate and a chop Beef sandwich. Definitely not what he ordered. But i can say the chop beef was decent enough. Lastly the service was an 8/10 but the food was a 2/10. Definitely won't be returning. read more

So the hubs and I were starving but on low carb diets and this narrows the restaurant selection for us. BBQ is a obvious go to, but since we moved here have heard of no outstanding places. Decided to give the drive thu at Rocking Q a try and we're definitely not disappointed. It was ridiculously fast and the food was GREAT. Ok this place is SO GOOD! We were driving through - only here for one night. I had to have BBQ in TX! After reading the views and seeing how close it is to our hotel, we decided we'd try it. I called to order take out and they said I could only order take out for 10+ people but their drive thru is fast! Even better! Now the drive thru was a bit confusing - I had to drive around the building and had to back in because I'm not the best after I've already been 10 hrs in the car. The voice on the other side was friendly and helpful, though his accent was thick so a little difficult to understand. When I pulled up to pay, there was a very white guy who asked me a question in his thick Mexican accent - he was joking around. It was hilarious. So fun! PAnd the food was fabulous! Love this place. We usually go to the drive thru and get pulled pork sandwiches and potato salad. They don't always provide napkins and utensils in the drive through for "on the go" so be sure to ask for them. But, always happy with the food! Potato salad, get the big one! This is not Texas barbecue. This is dry, bland meat served at $10 per plate. Bricks have more flavor than this "food." Rockin Q, you can do better than this, I don't see how you have been voted best in the Permian Basin serving whatever you call this. Real Texas BBQ is tender and juicy, not rock hard. Pulled pork doesn't look like it was ripped apart in a wood chipper. Mac and cheese should have cheese, NOT some plastic tasting substitute. The only upside to my plate was the fact that the green beans were actually warm. I threw the rest of this garbage exactly where it should have gone from the kitchen - in the trash. This place is a waste of money - I do not, whole hartedly, recommend that you spend money on this when you're better off with a Banquet frozen dinner. read more

This place is an unbelievable find. as a foodie from Austin every time i come home the first 2 places i go back to are roses and here. The combination burritos should be withheld from anyone not wanting to have food dreams of them ever after. BBQ sauce is tasty and that nice balance of smokey sweet and savory. they give u a TON of extra crap, as in pickles and onions if your into that. For a BBQ place their queso is way better than expected, i advise some fries to dip, but using your burrito isn't a bad idea either. my parents love the pulled pork sandwich that i must admit is very juicy. got the ribs once and they were pretty good too, although not nearly as good as their combo burritos which again, should be given a medal for most awesome concept/execution of a BBQ burrito Ive ever beholden. its a shame that its hidden behind so much crap, being buried behind a HEB and a juice thing but if you make the quick trip off 42nd you'll be well rewarded with an original local Odessa gem. this place makes it fresh and that's rare for anywhere let alone our tiny portion of the desert. read more

I think that most Texans hold BBQ to a certain (sometimes not achievable) standards. There are some places in Odessa that I just flat out do not like. A waste of money for some overpriced rubbery pieces of meat. But Rockin' Q is NOT one of those places. I've lived here for 12 years and not once went by. I checked Yelp for reviews and still decided to give it a try. I enjoyed it! We got take out -- a 3 meat plate with ribs, (chopped) brisket and sausage with beans and potato salad for sides and peach cobbler for dessert. Everything was hot - and was still hot by the time we got home. (Adding this because of the reviews on cold food.) The food was decent - not the quality I was reading about. I highly enjoyed the potato salad. But let's talk about that peach cobbler though. I want to drive back to the other side of town for some more because it was AMAZING. Not once, in my entire life, have I ever - and I mean EVER - had peach cobbler that I felt was GOOD. Hell, the peach cobbler alone is worth going back. read more

The waitress/cashier was funny, cheery and very polite. She knew her menu and guided me to something that i loved. The food is just as good (I had a brisket and sausage sandwich). Great BBQ here! Has been voted best in our town several years in a row. Super friendly service and very prompt as well. This is my daughters favorite place to eat. They have out door seating which I love because here in Texas it stays warm most of the year. We take advantage of the seating and enjoy the nice warm days eating fresh BBQ and drinking sweet tea! Like something you would get your dog at pet smart. The sausage was cold and bland. The sides were nothing special. I received old Mac and cheese and the beans were mainly canned tomatoes with a very little beans. Avoid this place and if you still go tell them to microwave the food before you get it.
