We're really glad we got to connect! If you are hesitant to include a therapist in your circle of people assisting you to raise your child, take a breath and get past it. You'll understand the value after the first visit!

I haven't been to Raise but Jess has treated someone I love. I have encountered many therapist and…read morethere are many out there who are clinically sufficient. What Jess brings to the table is something more, which was a genuine concern for my child. On one of our conversatios she said " I went on this run and I was thinking about"... she was thinking about my kid and how to help. She made me feel like we ( we because as parents, things that affect our kids affect us) were "seen." I think more often than not people get complacent in their careers, including the medical or mental health field, which I would chalk up to human nature. However, she never made me feel like my kid was number or just another patient. She was someone going through something and Jess was going to figure it out. We had to stop seeing Jess due to some circumstances out of my control. Which only lead us to a merry go round of therapists and it wasn't until then, that I was able to fully appreciate her, not only for her emotional investment in my child but also for her instincts, which were proven to be spot on. While on that mental health merry go round, I learned that not every therapist has the capability to convey a genuine sense of commitment and concern for their client/patient , however Jess did. Taking on someone else's emotional pain, trauma, anxieties and fears has to be one of the hardest jobs I could imagine, especially when it comes to children...so I can understand having and internal shut off valve and not fault anyone needing to enact that protective mechanism. But as a parent who's child hurts....I sure as shit want someone who sees my kid, as I see them. Once again I saw Jess early in her career. Not only do I magine that she has gotten better with time but I imagine now that she has her own practice, she chooses people who values their clients as much as she does. ...I did recently refer someone here and they had positive reviews about Jess, Teena and the facility.

Kate is a mind healer!!…read more I went to Kate at a time when I was struggling with grief from the past and had anxiety thinking about the future. She navigated me through my problems by showing me a new perspective that I would have never thought about. She made me realize the power of mindfulness and how to see opportunities even in the darkest times of our lives. She gave me homework exercises for the mind that really worked well for me. Unlike most business, she is actually there when we need her even after the sessions and that made me understand how genuinely she cares about her clients. I am still in touch with her and she still helps me through some difficult situations. I highly recommend Kate.

I went for a total of 3 sessions, had no true expectations but open-minded going in. In the 1st session, I would say 80-85% of the time Kate was doing the talking. Not saying it was not important info or intentional, but thought the client would have done most talking. I left feeling the 1st session, not the most optimistic but still open-minded to continue. 2nd session was a lot better as I got the chance to really talk and open up more, letting out some emotional baggage which I believe is what I was truly looking for. After each session, she emailed me an MP3 to listen for better quality sleep. Honestly, it worked so I was ok with that result. In the last session, I remember we were talking about something and I had I asked for more clarity on what she meant and to me was a snarky/annoyed attitude that she came back with. I noticed this snarky attitude several times from the first time we spoke. Never in a disrespectful way, but enough to me where it was very surprising and not reassuring at all coming from a professional therapist/counselor. Some final thoughts- I was never hypnotized, she gave me the option but felt persuaded to listen to the mp3 only. I was ok with that and would say that worked so overall no issue here. I have not received one call/email asking about how I have been. Our last session was in Feb/March 2020. Just a bit surprising because during the final session she stated that she wanted to continue to work together & she would call before and after upcoming sessions. No word yet. Again don't think this was the best fit for myself, I do not regret going was a very good learning/growth experience. But this is my honest review.

I woke up every day wondering if my life was over: no vision, no plan, no growth, no learning. We began by taking the CliftonStrengths assessment and discovered that learning is one of my greatest strengths. He was very impressed with my high level of self-awareness. With a smile, John calmly listened as I led the discussion on the report. He recommended that learning is a strength. Embrace it. Also, John emphasized the importance of patience. He told me it took him two years to complete his psychology master's program. I discussed every career idea that entered my mind as I desperately tried to put the pieces of the puzzle back together again: lawyer, accountant, financial analyst, engineering, real estate, psychology, you name it. John never said I shouldn't do this or should do that. He said, "It's essential that we have a goal to work toward. Then, we will discuss what went well, what didn't, what our next step is, and what obstacles we must overcome. We will answer any questions you have. You are in the driver's seat during our sessions." After taking a break and doing some soul-searching, I discovered having a creative outlet in addition to learning is vital to my fulfillment. I told John I would publish a book, and I did. I came prepared to discuss my progress every week and our next steps. John supported me the whole way. I highly recommend Life by John to anyone needing support to reach their dreams or as simple as a sounding board. People who are prepared to discuss their goals, progress, next steps, and challenges with an open mind without the fear of judgment will benefit the most.
