Beware of True Care Pediatrics I took my newborn here, trusting them since they provided my prenatal care. My baby had a slightly elevated but normal jaundice level, which they insisted on testing further. The blood test showed a minor increase, but instead of contacting me, they got my phone number wrong and didn't call the emergency contact. Instead, they called the police and a social worker, who showed up at my home that night. I rushed my baby to the hospital, terrified and confused, only to be told his jaundice level was within normal range and that newborns shouldn't be in the ER unless it's truly critical. This entire ordeal was unnecessary, traumatizing, and avoidable. While Dr. Park who we have seen is wonderful, and I would like to omit as part of this negative experience and review. I cannot recommend this clinic. Their extreme response and failure to communicate are inexcusable. Parents should never have to face this kind of situation. Know your rights and be cautious about entrusting your child's care to this practice. read more

Five stars for Dr. Calhoun! She's truly the best. She cared for my girls when they were little and has been seeing my son with autism since he was a baby. Now he's 17 and still absolutely adores her. So grateful for her kindness, understanding, and the way she always goes above and beyond for him. read more

Dr. Park, Extremely egotistical and rude. A half ass Dr, i'd say. He wouldn't even let me get a word in about what i was at the clinic for. He kept cutting me off at every sentence with some antic he thought of saying. He told me that i shouldn't have my child in daycare and that i should quit my job to become a nanny and care for other children, including my own. Im not here for life advice, I'm here for my child's health. Told me that my child's ears were infected but couldn't tell me a straight answer as to whether i should treat the ears. He kept saying - talk to your husband about whether or not you want to treat. MY HUSBAND DOESNT HAVE THE MEDICAL LICENSE! I highly do not recommend this doctor unless you want to leave feeling guilt and shame as a mother because your child goes to daycare. He rushed my appointment, dismissed my questions about my childs health over and over and didnt even give me a solid recommendation about how to help my child with her ear infection. Look for another Dr., anyone but this guy. I have always had a great experience with staff and other doctors at Truecare, i was extremely disappointed with this visit, i would never expect a Dr to treat someone so awful. read more

They didn't take my hyperemesis gravidarum seriously. My first visit I was so sick I could barely stand and desperately needed nausea medicine. They told me I needed proof in writing that I am indeed pregnant even though I was pale, weak and nauseous. Never got a proper diagnosis put in my chart even after multiple trips to the ER which affected my work and prevented any benefits I may have qualified for. I spent most of my pregnancy in Emergency rooms because TrueCare's inadequate care. If you get very ill during pregnancy please seek a provider familiar with HG and how serious it is for mom and baby. These people will down play you. read more

If you try to make appointments and call gets cut off on there end they don't bother to call back and when you do get ahold of them to make an appointment on a possible ear infection on an infant they. try to give you a tele house appointment what is there problem they are stupid and unhelpful. read more

I've already spoken to the supervisor on duty but after he "fixed my issue" I still waited an additional hour in a waiting room and my appointment took an hour which consisted in the doctor saying she'll be right back 6 total times. She saw my son a total of 10 minutes in which they gave him Genexa at 3 months old. My 15 min appointment for a after ER visit took 3 hours and a 45 min drive there and 45 min drive back. They aren't worth it since dr Calhoun is always busy. I've been loyal since before when they were NCHS but enough is enough. My 3 mont old was screaming in the lobby, red and with a 100 degree fever. They ignored us and talked about their weekend plans on a Wednesday and shopping at the swap meet for an ugly brown flannel jacket from mervyns. I got there 35 minutes before my appointment. I get that's early but I checked in and no one else was in the lobby. The girls said it wasn't busy. One of their friends checked in at 1:15 saying that their appointment was at 1 pm and if they can still go since cut off was 15 min. They said yes and this family waited 3 min before being seen. They had the same appointment time and at this point I have been there 45 minutes. I ended up waiting out after waiting another 20 minutes and the girls disappeared from the front desk, I couldn't ask how much longer. 10 minutes after leaving they asked if I was still there and I told them what happened and they transferred me to the supervisor after 5 attempts and he saying she didn't know what she was doing. I let him know I was on my way to the ER and he asked me to come back and they would take me right away and promised I would been seen as soon as we got there. When I came back none of the front desk girls wanted to help me they needed to get a back office girl to help me. She offered us water and sat us in a room but she seemed peeved. I was happy to finally be in the back but the additional time was ridiculous. read more

Yesterday I came to this location for an appointment. Although, Doctor Campbell was behind I can't deny how attentive front desk was in assuring I will be called soon. Dr. Campbell was informative a kind to my situation. She is a great provider for any health needs. The medical assistants Nancy and Adriana were very caring and experience in drawing blood for testing. Especially since it's been hard lately to draw blood from me these days. i truly appreciate the care I received yesterday. read more

My daughter ran out of refills of her meds and the E.R Dr would not submit more refills so I made appt here again after her last week physical. I was asked for a copay but the other 2 times I was never asked for one. I was not prepared for a copay and so I asked to be billed this one time. My daughter really needed her meds. They refused. Spoke to the manager and she refused. She said for physicals there are no copays but for anything else there are. I understand that but it would had been nice if I was told that when I scheduled the appt. On top of that , you can't bill me this one time?? Really??? I had to borrow money just for Dr to write a prescription. I won't be going back and I will be finding another Pediatrician. So dumb. read more

North County Health Services is a very good place don't get me wrong but Dr. Calhoun is the worst doctor here provided in North County Health Services. This Doctor is very pushy and makes you feel uncomfortable which should not be provided in a clinic. All the Hispanic nurses were great just a few other nurses were prejudice as well as Dr. Calhoun. read more

I'm seriously so impressed with the care my daughter received today. After being brushed off by a supposed top notch pediatricians practice the attention to detail the entire staff gave us I will 10/10 recommend this folks to everyone. They diagnosed a missed lip tie(I already suspected due to our nursing struggle) listened to my concerns. Got us caught up on our vaccinations while being gentle as I'm a sissy when it comes to my daughter. We got cavity prevention varnish applied and our dental appointment made. They made all my future appointments set before I left the room. read more

My employer's HQ is on the east coast so the employer provided medical/dental insurance plan is for Out of Network employees like myself who are on the west coast. (UPMC/Multi-Plan, also from the east coast.) I initially contacted my health insurance provider in order to find a Dr for my 14 year old daughter. The rep guided me through their website so I did my research and found Dr Capella at the 2210 Mesa Dr Ste 300 Oceanside, CA office. I was assured by the receptionist there that they accepted my insurance, paid the copay and the vist with the Dr. Was great. The problem started during my daughter's second visit when I was then told by the receptionist AFTER the appointment that my insurance wasn't accepted. I called my insurance again on a three way call with North County Health Services central billing to verify this and was told that all the billing department had to do was send the claim to the right people. I just recieved a bill from North County Health Services. The letter is dated June 28th but the bill is dated June 16th. North County Health Services Central Billing is billing me for the initial visit. I called my insurance to see if they recieved any claims from North County Health Services and was informed that NONE exist from them. This means that I will most likely recieve another bill from them for the second visit. I blame my insurance provider for not keeping their "participating providers" site up to date and North County Health Services for claiming that they do accept my insurance plan and charging me for the full amount without even filing the claim. I would not recommend this facility to anyone, due to the way the receptionist and billing department handled my situation. read more

I was supposed to have my newborn daughter (born 4 days ago) seen today for a first visit, but didn't even get further than filling out paperwork and it was an absolute disaster. Per my HMO insurance coverage, I chose a doctor at this facility after seeing the website (nice, organized, well-laid out, really one of the only pluses here) and their proximity to my home. I am in the process of adding my daughter to my insurance policy (since it is provided by my employer) but when I called to make an appointment, I was assured that this would not affect my baby's ability to be seen. I was recently discharged from the hospital and was told to have her seen within 2 days, so I didn't have much time to get things set up. I got a few follow up calls/texts to confirm my appointment and medical record details, so I thought that meant that they were organized and prepared. I arrive at our appointment early, as instructed, and began to fill out paperwork, but had to wait while they began to verify my insurance information (I was surprised that they didn't do this already). I informed the staff member I was working with that I just gave birth earlier in the week, I didn't have everything set up, and she said that was fine, but gave me an application for MediCare "just in case to see if I'd coverage for the visit if my insurance didn't go through". I filled it out, gave her my rough estimates for monthly income (on the spot, no less, so I didn't know exact figures) and was told that based on the estimate, my husband and I make too much money to qualify for MediCare (not a surprise, as I was now aware that this facility was clearly for lower incomes since I noticed the WIC logo on a building outside). I then was growing frustrated and asked if I needed to, how much is an out-of-pocket visit just to have my baby seen and was told it would be upwards of $300. Then I was told my insurance was showing up as "inactive", though again, I just was at the hospital a few days prior and everything was fine. The girl called my insurance, was told my plan WAS active, and then had me start filling out paperwork for our visit. I was then asked if my Primary Care Provider was affiliated with them and I said no, and said I was not informed this over the phone when making the appointment. She said that's fine, she doesn't think it should affect my daughter being seen today and the medical group usually "doesn't say no", so I was asked to go ahead and fill out additional paperwork while they called my medical group to verify my information. She was put on hold with them and I sat down. A few minutes later, I was told again that since my PCP is not affiliated with them, my baby couldn't be seen. She said that the reason being is that she is with MY insurance policy and not her own, so she needs to stay within the parameters of my insurance. I again said I was NOT told this when I called in and all she could do was apologize for the inconvenience. The only good thing about this whole mix up is that the staff were nice and seemingly well-intended, but they clearly didn't know what they were doing. The staff member I was working with kept asking her coworkers for their input on how to go about the process, where to find the information, verifying what information was correct to relay to me, etc so I was NOT confident in their knowledge. I later called my insurance company AND a representative from my medical group and had everything verified and confirmed. I just had a baby DAYS prior, am still in recovery mode and the last thing I needed was having my time, energy and emotions wasted on this. Needless to say I will never return to this facility nor any associated with True Care. Staff, please do your homework before allowing a new mom to show up with her brand new baby if you won't even allow the doctor to see her. read more

Avoid NCHS at all costs!!! I came in with severe shortness of breath and was referred to a cardiologist who sent my test results to this office. They could not manage to figure out their own fax system for over two months while I was forced to call over thirty times trying to motivate them to do their job, I am still waiting on the results for one simple test. When you have a serious condition this is the last thing you want but the bottom line is that these people just do not care. They are clueless and I hope to save people the extreme frustration and headache I have had to go through. Pathetic excuse for doctors. read more

We came to this office for my daughters kindergarten physical. The staff at the front desk are so sweet and welcoming. The environment is clean and crisp. Nothing in this place is dirty, not even the bathrooms. The decor is appealing to children, making it less dreadful to drag a child into the doctor! The nurses were all so amazing with my daughter. She's 4 and deathly afraid of the doctors office. They managed to make the entire visit a game, from the eye exam to the hearing tests and beyond. She had so much fun! Until the shots, but what kid is going to be smiling after those. Overall we love this office and look forward to bringing our son here also. Low cost, great service, clean environment, and people who know how to handle children. I couldn't ask for more! read more

Could not get my favorite Dr.Donya so had an app at 3:30pm with a diffrent Doctor my kid has a fever screaming from the top of his lungs and still we go from waiting in the waiting room to wait even longer in the patient room. It's now 4:20pm I don't care who's fault it is I was here before 3:30pm like I'm suppose to be. And waited like I'm suppose to be. Should of been seen at the exact time and out because like every other person we all have stuff to do. What's the point of making an appointment when you don't even get seen at the time you were scheduled to be seen. read more

I've brought all my kids here since we moved back in 2006. The Doctors are great! I know the whole staff and they know my family as well. I have 5 kids and my oldest is 20 and youngest is 1 years old. My kids love their Doctors and the nurses here. I had my sisters bring their kids here as well and their kids love the staff as well. read more

The wait time can be a little long, but we absolutely love our daughter's pediatrician, Tasha Taylor. She is super patient, caring, and does so well with our little girl :-) The staff and nurses are always friendly. The new facility is beautiful, too! Very happy we come here. read more

Found this office to be very challenging to book an appointment Staff not flexible when it came to rebooking an appointment which was extremely frustrating after it was their error in booking the original appointment. I would not recommend this office. My daughter has had 3 pediatrician with our moves around the state and always had a doctor and staff who sincerely cared and extremely helpful, cannot say that about NCHS Mission Mesa Peds. I have been taking my children here for at least 2 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about there service and Doctors they are professional and courteous . Dr.Park is our kids Doctor and they love him he's funny and welcoming what I appreciate most is that he's honest and frank and I believe that's what's most important as a Doctor don't tell me what I want to hear tell me what I need to hear it's refreshing to have a great Doctor that tells me my kids need vaccines or they could die lmao it's true in a time where everyone wants to be catered to it's nice to have a Doctor I know will watch out for my Family. I had a 4 month physical for my daughter today at 11:45 but the girls behind the desk told me that I had an insurance problem that I was unaware of. I asked why they never called me ahead of time to let me know and she said that they should have. She then told me that I would have to wait until 3:15 for the next available doctor. There were people in the waiting room but it didn't seem to bother them because they continued to talk loudly to me while I was still sitting down. Very unprofessional because it was a huge waste of time since I have to drive 30 minutes just to get to this clinic and my daughter wasn't even seen. I will not be returning. read more

The pediatrician we had was great; helpful, quick, always answered a few questions... but the front desk staff and people answering the phones make it difficult not to get frustrated. After we moved, obtaining our records took weeks and we finally had to drive all the way back there to sign paperwork. This was done twice for some reason, and then they still had issues mailing it to the new dr. Our new office has the modern technology available to SCAN and FAX, wow. It's a nice office but you have to schedule months in advance to see anyone. If you have a sick child you're better off heading to urgent care then trying to get a dr on the phone here. read more

If I could give zero stars for service, I would. This is a terrible Healthcare clinic and a very unethical place of business. I called prior to setting an appointment to ensure they could assist me and gave the representative a detailed account of the services I needed. Their representative placed me on hold to check if they were able to provide me with the services I needed then returned to the phone and scheduled the appointment stating they could see me. I arranged my day around the appointment and after coming into their clinic, completing the intake paperwork and being screened by the doctor he informed me that they don't even offer the services I required. I left without the medical assistance i needed and then they sent me a "bill for service". When I called to complain that I shouldn't have to pay since they wasted my time and there was no services rendered (again, I called them before I set the appointment to ensure I'd make the most productive use of my time only to be told by their medical representative to come into the clinic to be seen) they refused to admit that they had made a mistake. Save yourself the trouble and headache of dealing with this place. Life is too short to use such a bad "medical service provider" and I use that term very loosely. Go somewhere else for medical support!! read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible! I scheduled my grandchildren's physical today and needed both appts. to be back-to-back. Arrived and the receptionist told me that someone had rescheduled for the 30th. Being scheduled for the both today was what I needed and it was a requirement they have their check-ups asap. Took forever to wait for an explanation of why they would reschedule without my permission. I had to take off from work and so much wasted time for my grandchildren from school as well. They asked me to wait so the nurse can talk to me about the whole situation and they can probably be only seeing one child today. Their fix to was to apologize they screwed up and admit they were at wrong, not for us to wait any longer for an 'explanation', tell me a simple 'yes or no' if they both can be see today (receptionist couldn't even give me eye contact and give me a straight answer). Not sure why we were even waiting around so we walked out and WILL NEVER USE THESE PEOPLE!!!! read more

My children see Dr Calhoun who we all absolutely love! My challenge is with the scheduling staff. Not the office staff. I just called in to book my daughter an appointment I explain to the girl that my daughter is in a lot of pain in her ears and her throat is completely red. and she does not feel well at all. The girl asked me for my information, my daughter has been a patient there since she was a baby she is 7 now, so over 7 years I verified all of the information went over everything with her and then she asked me for her insurance which has been the same Insurance she's had since she was a baby. The girl asked me if I had her ID number I told her no I don't I was driving but its the same Insurance like i explained, but instead of asking for any other information to verify her she said well I can't book the appointment then without that informationjust like that no offer of hey i need that but... I was so upset so I began to ask her well is there any other information that I can give you, I mean i just explained my daughter is in pain. She then said well I can either use like a social or something, I say I can give you that which I did. Finally she booked the appointment, and then asked me which symptom I wanted her to use since she could only book for one symptom each??? What?? That each symptom are separate appointments? Are you kidding me? I told her just to put anyone down because when I get in there I would let the dr. know what else is wrong hopefully she can find it herself I was so irritated by then you could tell that Leticia the representative who was booking the appointment was not interested in assisting me or my daughter at all. read more
