It's convenient and it's not to expensive-there's that. I joined about 6 months ago after dealing with some personal issues. Prior to moving down here 2 years ago (during Covid) I would come here as a guest when visiting my brother. Didn't really pay much attention to the machines and such at that time. But now - tv's don't work well at all - today there were none on. When they are on, 4 are running a loop of ads, 2 are Spectrum News1 and another is a sports channel that is ALWAYS on pause. Add to that that the same 4 machines have been out of order for weeks. Additionally, the tv's on the machines don't work. Perhaps it's some things were addressed and repaired. I would love to have a Planet Fitness in Moore County. I was a PF member when I lived in CT and they kept it very clean and all the amenities in working order. I've noticed the same at several other PF's as well weh I've gone on vacation. If something was not working, it was fixed quickly. That should be the expectation of any gym, shouldn't it? read more

This is a predatory company. Even on a month to month membership when you request to cancel your membership they will still charge you another FULL month prior to cancellation. So if you're moving in 2 weeks and you want to cancel your membership just be aware that you will be charged an additional full month that you will never utilize. I was recommended to try this gym out. I had a membership for 10 days. Their cardio equipment is barely running, their gym equipment is so close together that you have a butt in your face when you are trying to workout. There is never a place to stretch, everyday I ended up having to find a corner somewhere. And they don't have enough weights to support all of their equipment. Even with all of the equipment, I still had to wait to get on some of the machines. Also, some of the staff members conduct themselves in a very I professional manner and are inappropriately communicating with the memebers. It was extremely uncomfortable to hear. After I had enough I asked to back out of my contract, with only having 10 days. And they are charging me an additional $199. Please go anywhere else but here. The equipment is worn and the members far exceed the space available to workout but that's not the reason for the bad review. It is nearly impossible to cancel your membership here. They outsource it to a company that takes weeks to respond. Do not recommend. You'll get trapped in an expensive membership fee with a headache to escape it. read more

I have had my gym membership well beyond the commitment period and it is nearly impossible to get out of it even after that. They use a third party billing provider which is awful. If I could give 0 stars, I would have. The gym itself is fine. But if you ever need to cancel for any reason at all, that experience will leave such a bad taste in your mouth that it is not worth it. The gym machines are old and worn as they were never replaced when this gym transitioned from Gold's. There is a very limited selection of free weights and Olympic lift stations so those are very hard to use if you have a 9-5 job. As for free weights it's nearly impossible to find two of the same weight since the client base seems to completely lack gym etiquette and actual staff don't check to ensure weights return to the proper location. Unless you can go super early in the morning or super late in the evening (e.g pay extra for the 24hr pass) you'll spend most of your time waiting for equipment. At any given time of day you'll have to spend a good amount of time looking for your desired free weights. It's rare I see patrons wipe down equipment after using it so make sure to wipe it off beforehand. I commonly see staff omit this as well. Not sure that will do much as the bottles are filled with Windex - that's fine for a few bacteria but it does little for fungus or (heaven forbid) MRSA or VRE. Never tried the personal trainers but I have noticed some of them tend to copy my more functional workouts... (I'll take that as a compliment). On the plus side it does have a (small) sauna, showers, and the peanut butter chocolate protein shake tastes like a Reese's cup. read more

Friendly tip: don't forget to get a tetanus shot before working out here. All of the cardio machines are rusty (literally!) and ancient. The elliptical machines wobble when you try to run on them, which uh, I guess is better if you're looking to further strengthen your core. If this place weren't so darn close to my home, I'd definitely look elsewhere. read more

I strongly regret joining this gym and locking into an 18th contract! 80% of the cardio equipment does not work properly, has a broken piece, or is simply broken!! I've brought this to management's attention and although they talk the talk they don't do crap about it! The few weight machines I use have the same issues as cardio. Management stated most of the equipment is fairly new which one might believe if they were blind and ignorant. Take my advice and avoid this gym unless you are going for the eye candy. read more

Beware of entering a contract for personal training! Paramount Acceptance and TruFit have a shell and pea game going. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing on purpose and you will loose out. They will get so far ahead of you with training sessions that you won't brake even and they will continue to bill you monthly. Freeze your credit card or better yet go somewhere ethical. read more

After converting to Trufit, they have done a lot of recent upgrades to equipment. If there's any issue, you can bring it to the staffs attention and they will get it handled quickly. This is one of maybe two gyms in the Southern Pines area (minus the crossfit gyms). Anytime Fitness was too small and had too few equipment. And TruFit was about 10$ cheaper a month. TruFit has just about everything you need- free weights for weightlifting, cables, machines, cardio equipment, a core room, a juice/protein bar, and even a tanning bed. It's almost always pretty busy but it has never been to the point where I felt like I couldn't work out. There are two drawbacks to this gym. The first is that there are only two squat racks so more often than not, you have to wait to use it and usually there are other people who are eyeing it just the same. The second is that the weekend hours suck, especially Sunday. On Sundays, Trufit is only opens at 11. I would much rather work out in the morning and spend the rest of my day doing something more than waiting for the gym to open. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I signed up for a membership here as a disabled Army veteran. I have neurological issues from a brain injury I sustained and wanted to try and get back in shape and work on some weakness I have on one side of my body. When I signed up the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I paid upfront for my entire year long membership in order to save money. I then signed up for a trial with a trainer. After my trial was up I continued to be billed. I called the gym and spoke to the owner's wife who was the staff member I signed up under. She told me that I had signed a year long contract for a trainer. When I told her this was absolutely not correct, she emailed me a copy of the contract with my DIGITAL signature! I told her this was a mistake and had a witness with me when I signed the contract who also knew I did not sign up for a year of personal training @ $250 a month!!!!! She told me if I did not pay I would be banned from the gym even though I paid for my year membership upfront. I of course refused to pay, they revoked my PAID IN FULL membership and sent me to collections! I reported them to BBB and found out they have been doing this for years. When they were under the Golds Gym name and now the TruFit Gym name. By changing their name, the history under Golds Gym is separated out when looking at online reviews! Sneaky! I filed against them in small claims court and am still waiting for a court date almost a year later! The trainer I completed my trial with ended up quitting because he didn't want to be involved with their dishonest and unlawful practices! I cannot believe a local business would treat a disabled veteran like this. They should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Don't join this gym!!!!!! They will lie to you and continue to try and steal money from you and it is HELL to fight with them to get the money back. The owner is a coward who is never available and always "with a customer", which apparently consist of him "flexing" in the mirrors at the gym while dodging customer and no matter how much notice you give them, your membership won't get canceled and they will continue to try and get money out of you. Epic failure just like this place always has been. I provided written documentation of request to cancel and they are still fighting me, refusing to cancel, all the whole still trying to collect more money. They sent an email stating we would all be credited for the months they were closed for "covid" AS WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN because we did all PAY for that time. This isn't the first run in with this gym but it will be the last. I will be seeking further action. Save yourself the trouble and join one of the many other reliable gyms around town. read more

Staff were deceptive and unclear when I asked for a month to month membership. After reading the fine print they had told me I had signed up for a month to month membership and it in fact was a two year membership. To cancel I had to write a letter to their corporate office, and it was only after I asked multiple times that they even gave me that information. They were rude and condescending. I have never had a more horrible experience, and I have told many people not to go to this gym. Stay away. read more

This place is exactly what I was looking for. It isn't queepy and backwards like planet fitness but isn't West Coast barbell either. It's pleasantly in the middle. The equipment so far seems functional and the clientele are not your typical turds that won't clean up after themselves. So this may be the worst gym I've ever belonged to in 25 years. Their customer service is terrible, You can never get a machine or bench, and well it's dirty. I had surgery last year and was unable to work out for 6-8 months, so I wanted to suspend my membership until I was able to work out again. Well they told me I would be charged for the time I was unable to work and would freeze my account until I could use the gym again, but I would be credited the time at the end of my contract. Well I'm getting out of the army and moving so that is pointless. I tried to end my contract at the end of my two years (a year of which I could not use so to surgeries), I even sent an email in November to their billing company. Surprise still being charged and I can not end my membership to the gym in person, or over the phone. I have to resend an email to get it canceled but I am still getting charged, even though the gym will be closed due to the pandemic. So if I can not use the facility, why am I still being charged. They are useless and difficult to deal with. Join another gym this one blows. read more
