A lot of lousy reviews/ratings for this company. My experience has been great. As with most service businesses, value and quality is largely dependent on the technician who does the work. Their service is awful! I prepaid for a years worth of a set service. They bait and switched and charged me for additional services that I didnt request. Also, after the year of service, my lawn is gross. They killed all the weeds but never seeded the yard, so i have a lawn with many and large bald spots. The company was once one of the best lawn care services. It seems like over the years the price has gone up, and the customer service has gone down. I guess with age you see that as years go by. My specific incident was putting in the notes where to focus on wheat control And it was ignored. The app is a joke and you can never find what you need. When I called to complain and said I want to cancel my service there was no resistance. She asked what happened and verified a couple things and said OK thank you and have a good day. Two years ago I used TruGreen. The summer went fine, but when the spring came along, all my St. Augustine was dead. I spent over a year trying to contact someone about the situation, and finally after over 12 months, a local Dallas rep called. He had every excuse as to why it was not TruGreen that caused the issue. I invited him to come to my house, he agreed but never showed up. A technician came to my home at 7 am in the morning and used profane language (f---, s----) with me when discussing care of my yard. Navigating customer service to resolve our concerns with the technician were a nightmare. The company gave more "training" to its employee for his use of profanity. Do not hire TrueGreen. They killed my grass and my weed problem increase 10 fold. The cost of damage is 1400 to 2000 dollars. When the specialist Aaron came to resolve issues, he had no solutions. He stated "they do not seed your grass, the only fertilizer when appropriate." This is what my moms lawn looked like after they treated it. Before it was a beautiful green lawn. They must have had a leak in their hose. They tried to plant a little grass seed but it never came up. Her yard is ruined! Last year they sprayed something on her shrubs that killed them. Supremely unimpressed. Their people came out to spread weed killer on our lawn 2 days ago and did a sloppy job and killed some flowers in my very large flower garden. I don't spend tons of my and hours and hours in my garden to have my LAWN COMPANY kill my flower garden. When I tried to call to talk to someone about it, I got the standard 1.800 number customer service whose person told me they were going to give me "excellent" customer service and then proceeded to do nothing but put me in queue to be "contacted in 24 - 48 hours." They REFUSED to give me the number of the person who manages the local office we use and the Excellent customer service rep's manager refused to get on the phone and talk to me. The service was not as advertise. The initial salesperson I spoke with via phone requested information about my goals for treatment. They have me a summary of the service which would include an in person review of my lawn and discussion about the treatment plan. I paid for a one year plan of treatment. The in person discussion/review never happened. I was left a note on my front door that was a summary consisting of a few sentence. The treatment did not address my problem as I was promised. About halfway through the year I responded to a survey about my service and I gave a zero. Shortly thereafter the manager came to my house and had a phone conversation about my yard. He essentially said I would need to remove my grass and plant a different type. He said their service was unable to treat the problem. I said my yard actually looked worse this last year with the service and I would not be continuing. After my service term was complete they continued to come to my years and bill me even after multiple phone calls. Also the phone answering service frequently speaks very little English. In the end I was just as well off to fertilize my yard a couple times a year with a $40 bag of fertilizer from home depot. read more

After canceling my service 11 months ago, they showed up without advance notice and charged me. They refused to waive the fee because at the time I canceled, they still owed me two treatments I had already paid for, apparently negating the cancelation in their system. I was never contacted about the subscription being automatically renewed despite my cancellation. Then, after the first person I talked to confirmed he saw the cancellation in my account, the supervisor lied and said there wasn't a note about it. Infuriating. I'm have been using TruGreen for several years and EVERY year I have the same issues. WEEDS! I call EVERY year to report this problem after the first two applications of the year. I'm always told that I'm not having enough applications applied. I've upped the number and still same results. In the past I've been able to speak to the local office and have someone come out to do an assessment, and a solution would be found, and my grass would look great...until next year. Now, when trying to contact the local office, I'm routed to customer service where no one can help me. They can't accept photos to see what I'm deal ok with, I can't speak to a supervisor, nothing. The service did not help my lawn. That's OK. Parts of my yard get poor sunlight. I thought I would give them a shot to see if I could get some grass growing in those spots. It didn't work and it is probably not their fault. My issue with this company is that they make is so hard to cancel. They have a nice app - you cannot cancel on it. You cannot cancel via email. You cannot cancel on their website. You cannot ask one of their service people to cancel your account. I contacted true green because my brother had a good experience in VA. Not true for east Dallas. My backyard has lots of clover not much grass. my front yard was fine. Sales convinced me to get the whole yard treated. The initial report was done when I wasn't home even though I wanted a verbal evaluation. No real evaluation was given just reports on my door that my grass was fine. now I have big patches of dead grass in the front and weeds for the rest. I was told the wrong treatment was made for my type lawn. They tried to resolve the error but customer service /local technician/and area director do not communicate. Several people came out with promises of new sod that didn't happen. Now I have 3000 sq ft of spotty dead grass. $700 to mess up the good grass that I did have. My neighbors do basically nothing and grass looks 10x better than mine. Now probably $1000s will be needed to correct. I called customer service who said she'll send technician if I keep paying. I'm single and work hard for my money. I don't have 1000s laying around for more damage and no one showing up. The rep didn't care just canceled at my service. read more

Do not go with them. I tried them due to the bundle deal. No integrity as a company as multiple associates have just flat out lied to me about services completed, having supervisors return my calls, removing cards from my account, refunds for services that were charged and not delivered, etc. I was even charged for monthly lawn services while I was already on the 1-year pre-purchased plan. A True Pain In The Ars! A horrible experience from start to finish. The photos speak volumes. I still have zero resolution. Forget trying to call and get help or have questions answered as NO ONE picks up the phone and NO ONE calls you back. I've been promised a call back from a supervisor twice - that was a week ago. My grass appears "burned" and now I'm going to have to pay someone else to clean up this mess. In addition, my dogs became very sick after service. My vet bills align perfectly with the dates service was done. No other units where I live have grass that looks as bad as mine. Aren't I special? A picture is worth a thousand words. I'm not used to and don't know what receiving calls from collections is like, but TrueGreen's collections people call me ALL the time. This may be the most incompetent company we have ever hired. We fired them over a month ago and I just got a text today from a clueless employee asking if we would like our lawn mosquito treated. I turned this down and told them we had fired them over a month ago. We paid our bill in full when we cancelled in May, but earlier this week I get a call that there is still a balance. I shared with them the date we cancelled and the final bill payment with a confirmation number. We have screenshots and everything. After we cancelled we were told a manager would follow-up with us to see if they could win our business back. This call never came. Just another empty promise from a terribly run organization. I will never use them again. They sprayed my lawn with bug killer/poison with my two dogs in the yard. They said "I was able to fend off your dogs". WOW. Then a manager said "that is a preference for customers, I leave my dogs out when they spray". This was in a very condescending voice. Who are these people???? To preface my property is new, so it's basically just an empty lot on Google maps. When I called them for just a quote, they told me that they'd get someone out there to check the area, so they could get an accurate measurement. Days go by nothing... Another person calls saying that they saw my request; told them the spiel that my place was new and someone would measure the place. Again no one showed up. Another week goes by, get another call, same thing. One MONTH later someone calls they saw my request. I'm just astounded by how terrible the management is. It's hard to put it into words except, "wow, how do they even have two stars??" And "it's no wonder, they're offering a discount." read more

RE: Services Credit Request & Account Cancellation and Closure Request On 06/22/20 A Tru Green tech came to provide service. He was personally observed and also viewed on Nest Cam footage later that evening to have only done the front lawn, but not the back lawn. He claimed to do have completed such and invoiced for two services for front and back, that being fertilizer and sulfide treatment. On further investigation it was found that the sulfur treatment that was billed for and claimed to be completed by the tech was also false for both front and back! The only agents/chemicals found on the lawn were applied to the front lawn only, was fertilizer and not the sulfide treatment. Calls to customer service resulted in, "I will send a message to his handheld." As I sat in my driveway discussing with my experience manager Mark Manning after getting off the phone with customer service as to what occurred, the TruGreen truck sped down the street at a high rate of speed and passed right back by my house without even stopping. Needless to say, he never made it back. Mark respectfully rescheduled the services two days later for today 06/24/20. Once again, they did not provide the sulfur treatment, but they did fertilize the back yard that they originally had skipped out on 06/22/20. At this time I am no longer interested in re-doing the sulfur treatment I was billed for on my invoice and would like a FULL refund by crediting back the last charge to my Discover Card and to close out my account with Tru Green in it's entirety. Lastly, I communicated the fact of the aforementioned with Mark Manning about the invoice for sulfur treatment not being completed on the 22nd either (when the lawn was entirely skipped out on the first go around) and he said, "its only done once a year." Well, that is great Mark, but they billed me and didn't complete it as written on my invoice as completed on 06/22/20. At that point all communication and responses stopped by Mr. Manning. When You contract a company and they show up on nest cam with their spreader and only complete the front and then claim to have done the back lawn too, it erodes the customer's trust. THEN to add insult to injury, you get billed a couple hundred for sulfide on top of the fertilizer charge that was also NOT DONE. The trust issue is now compounded. To do any further business especially after your communicating with a "customer experience" manager about it and concludes no end result, or resolution I'd be a fool to stay with Tru Green. I paid in full for the year, a bit over $500. My first scheduled appointment the technician went to wrong home and even sprayed there front yard. My plan included front, side and back yard. He only sprayed the front yard of the wrong home. Didn't even try to spray the back yard of the wrong hone. Which if he had he would have found that he was at the wrong house. While I was on the phone with True Green ( Deniese) I was told the technician would be back at my home the correct home in three to five business days. All the while the tech was one street away. After finally getting him to our home to spray. I received no explanation or apology. I did file two complaints which have yet to be resolved. They got my money now they don't care. Like so many companies now a days. If I could cancel I would. But god knows I'd never get my money back. I will never use True Green again. read more

Spent 2 mos. treating yard: 3x for weeds, 3x for ants, no results. Black ants all over the yard. Mosquitos - very allergic. Told that problem would be eliminated, heard how he & his wife can go into their yard freely, but if they leave their yard, they have to spray themselves. Asked about discounts for seniors, disabled, or vets. Only discount - pay in advance for the year. Agreed. Not told to water after each treatment - AS A NEW CUSTOMER, should've been told. Saw later on TG website that 1st svc is 50% off + there's a sr. discount. Tues: Spoke w/tech before he began, told he was treating only for weeds; mosquito/ant svc was done separately. Nothing was mentioned about watering after service and I didn't watch while granules were being put down. Signs were left saying "wait until this dries;" assumed liquid had been used, so did nothing. Thur: Saw truck pull up, went outside, told tech I wanted to ensure that ants would be treated b/c truck said only "Mosquitos". Told perimeter treatment for was being done. He began explaining what "perimeter" meant, I interrupted him, apologized, said I know what perimeter means, I pay my pest control company for that. Said I'd bought service to treat ants ALL over the yard. Told that wasn't on work order - call TG. Asked him not to apply perimeter treatment, but in the 3 minutes that had elapsed, the other tech had finished and was coming out of the backyard. Immediately called local TG. Transferred to 3 ppl, explained everything 3x. Confirmed I'd purchased whole yard ant svc. During the call the techs left. Was told TG would "get them back out" to treat properly; assumed would be same day. Didn't happen. Ckd email, several from TG, none included cust # required for online access. Emailed cust svc on website, ret'd undeliverable. One email asked that I rate services rec'd; could not do so b/c I couldn't confirm techs had come back out. One said "be sure to water product into lawn after service." First time I'd seen this. Fri: Called 800# cust svc at 7:58AM CST. Told wait was 2 min, but could get a callback in 2 min; chose that. No call back all day, no VM. Late that afternoon called TG Dallas. Said I wasn't told to water after treatment & asked if Tues svc would be effective. Told it "wouldn't be AS effective, but would work." Told that b/c I'd selected email & texts for communication, instructions on written service form wasn't left by tech. Given acct #. Told TG can't send techs back same day, that appt had to be scheduled. Told her the man I talked to Thur. at noon said he'd handle this. 1st available appt in 5 days, 6 days after it should've been done. Not AT ALL okay. TG emails: "TruGreen offers a Healthy Lawn Guarantee that provides you with a free re-service at any time to address concerns between visits." Not in my case. Sun: Went outside for 5 min, got six mosquito bites and saw tons of ants on top of landscaping fabric I'd put down directly against the house (where perimeter was treated Thur). Saw many active ant mounds. Nothing has gone right. Critical instructions only provided in emails, unacceptable given # times I'd actually spoken to TG by phone AND w/ BOTH techs. Wasted min. 6 hrs on ph, site, emails. One email said "need further information to be able to take appropriate action" - 5 ppl in Dallas had details via phone. Spent more time on email & phone to cancel, said I wanted full credit b/c I'd been lied to. Told they'd retreat; I declined; they did it anyway. Only partial credit was issued. read more

The first time they came out, the tech sprayed trees that are being removed and didn't spray the ones with the issue. He walked by the open front door but didn't bother to ask what we needed done. He came back a week later to spray the correct trees. The second treatment had a "window" from 10/18 to 11/3. I get a text on 11/2, saying they'll be out 11/3, the last day of THEIR window. When I called to reschedule I was told that since 11/3 was the last day in that "window", I couldn't reschedule, and if I canceled that service, they wouldn't come out again until the next scheduled treatment in Jan. I let the rescheduling dept know that was bad customer service and called another # for TruGreen. They were able to do some changes to dates, keeping our same contract, allowing a reschedule. The young man was helpful but had to contact his manager to affect that change. We have been using TruGreen on 2 homes in 2 different cities in Texas. We have had a terrible experience with both properties. Let me say customer service is TERRIBLE! The service people would come out and try to upsell you often! Sometimes they even said they did not have the right product on their truck to treat the weed. Some months they came twice so you were charged twice in a month. They say if your not satisfied call and get a redo but you can never get a hold of customer service!!! I finally learned you have to call the line for new service inquiries!!! And when you want to schedule a redo it has to be within a small time window. What a joke! I also had to call 3 different times to cancel my membership. Services are subpar! DO NOT USE!!! I've talked to TruGreen on the telephone more in the last 7 months then my own grandmother!!!!!!!!! This company has continued to disappoint me. We used them when we lived in the mountains of Virginia and then again when we moved to southern Virginia. I had hopes of having a beautiful green yard and got nothing but weeds and brown grass in return. I also discovered they used a mixture of different grass seeds when they did the aeration in the fall. The people who work there were pushy and did not refund my money when I cancelled service. Bad experience, Tech came out only did 60% of my back yard. He most it thought nobody was home but my wife was looking at him in the security system . I call to complain and to speak to a supervisor i was told they were out in the field. So let's just say i never got a call back from them. So i cancel !
