In the last 6 months I have received over 20 spam messages from them. I have unsubscribed 11 times and they just keep sending. I have called 20 times and they refuse to allow me to talk to a supervisor. Then the Sacramento office started calling between 7 and 8 am. This is illegal, unless a customer asks them to. Because of the draught, we removed our lawn years ago. I have filed complaints with the BBB, DA, DOJ and California Attorney General, and still this company spams me. read more

This company is a money grab. They have not resolved any of the issues with my lawn. The crabgrass and other weeds remained after over a year. I watched a worker jump out of his truck and perform the " service" which was chemical spray that took one minute. I have a very small lawn. I had called multiple times to cancel. They said they talked me into a discounted rate. The final was when the only time the actual truck with multiple chemicals arrived and they began ringing my doorbell at 7am. Before and after they sprayed. The only difference I ever saw was my grass grew faster. So the fertilizer was effective. I called to settle my bill. It was zero. However they now have an automatic service set to call multiple times a day. I have attempted to talk with them multiple times. Today I got through to the company and they say I owe for 2 months service! 142.oo I asked for the owner/manager to call me. This is a scam and harassment. I consider myself knowledgeable in terms of lawn care. However I was struggling with lawn insects damaging my turf, and so I reached out to TruGreen for help, thinking they had access to treatments not readily available at retail nurseries and garden centers. After meeting with one of their sales folks and hearing his recommendations, I agreed to try out TruGreen's services. I explained to him that I was not ready to prepay for a full year of treatment, but was willing to have month to month service and then commit should I see positive results. Again, lawn insects were what I was most concerned about. The following week, TruGreen scheduled two separate service visits on the same day - one for the lawn and the other to treat shrubs, which according to them, were contributing to lawn disease. After completion of both visits, I read the receipts left behind. Nowhere did they indicate any application of lawn insect treatment. In fact, the first technician wrote that there were no to few apparent insects. Unbelievable, when I see lawn moths hovering over the surface of the grass. I reached out to the salesman, explaining the situation, and he told me I needed to call the corporate number to let them know I needed grub service. In our initial conversation, he explained that TruGreen was looking to grow the market in my area. He never offered to make the call on my behalf. Not a great way to grow market share, and certainly a poor way to start off a business relationship. And, this third service call resulted in another full-cost charge to my account. We have used TruGreen for several years. It seems like since around Covid (maybe even before), their service has really gone downhill. They won't show up repeatedly for scheduled services prompting me to have to call frequently to get them out to complete the service I paid for and they often do an incomplete job when they do show up. Beware of TruGreen for these reasons: a. Scheduling and billing issues persist; they will bill you for services they didn't provide, and dispute your claims. b. Inadequately trained technicians; witnessed instances of misapplication of products due to lack of training. c. Technicians have come to my home, talked on the phone left without servicing the lawn and I was still billed for their time. Overall, it's a poorly managed company with indifferent technicians. Horrible. Don't ever use them. They proved my self closing gate open and let my dog out. They claim to treat shrubs and trees but spend 5 minutes then leave. My Morning Glories were covered in white flies and large holes were in all the leaves. I had to buy my own stuff to treat all my plants before they died. They left mud plugs all over the walkway when they aerated my lawn. I was told a supervisor would come out and assess but I never heard back. When I complained and told them my dog got out and was still missing they deducted a partial payment so basically they wanted me to pay them for their screw up. No accountability. read more

Within a week after providing Insect & Disease Control service (they sprayed the trees with chemicals), one of our trees began shedding leaves and the lawn turned yellow. Before calling customer service, we checked the irrigation and all was good. We then called customer service and requested they send a manager out to assess. Instead of a manager, they dispatched the same guy who did the spraying who immediately went into defense mode. Besides referring to the tree by the wrong name (it is a tropical ash), he said the loss leaves is normal this time of year (actually it has consistently lost its leaves in late October the past 12 years we've lived here). He then blamed the 100 degree temperatures. When I informed him the temperature is 100+ degrees every summer and this has never happened before, he determined it was a lack of water without so much as testing the soil or irrigation system which we had already done thoroughly. Finally, he insisted their chemicals did not cause that. He made these determinations in exactly 2 minutes, no testing, no inspections, nothing. Suffice it to say I am thoroughly disappointed in the service and will soon be a former customer. read more

They did nothing to improve the look of our lawn after 1 year. So, once our annual paid-in-advance contract was up ($2,200 for grass and trees) we called to cancel. I tried TruGreen despite the bad reviews two years ago. The gentleman who initially came out explained that TruGreen was revamping the business and making many positive changes to service. After two years, I cancelled yesterday. Customer Service is deplorable. I requested someone knowledgeable come to my home while I was home to tell me why my lawn looked so bad. They simply cannot or willnot schedule someone at a time convenient to you. They tell you the technician will call you before he arrives, but that does not give you time to plan leave work and be there when they are there. I even talked with the regional director, who was very unhappy that someone gave me his number...he never followed through. What they provide: technicians to apply chemicals...that is it. The technicians know nothing about plants or lawns so when something isn't working they don't know what to do. I have investigated prices for the chemicals and their prices are not bad...if that is all you need, then you are probably OK. If you need any assistance with why plants or lawn are dying, forget it. Then on the follow up spray the only sprayed 1/4 of the committed area and haven't been able to get someone to come back out. The call center appears to not communicate to the service department and only takes the call to move on to the next call. We had to cancel our first appointment since we were not going to be in town. We were told that we would get a call the day before the service. They called and left a message, but the lawn had already been cut that day. So they came out the next day, which was a Friday. There was no knock on the front door or note telling us they were there. I received an email saying they had service our property. I had to go back and look at security cameras to confirm they came. I called customer service, and they said the note the technician left said he knocked at the door, which he did not. I told them that I had video camera footage showing tech coming straight from his truck to the backyard. Also did not get any statements, which they said was in my profile. Which as a new customer I don't even have an account number that was given to me, so am unable to get into that profile. Not sure if my dogs were let out after this time. Please read this review. We have had Trugreen lawn care since 2018 when I decided to give up the care of my own lawn to someone else. I have done care for my own lawn for years and since 2018 we have had the envy of the neighborhood for lawn appearance. However, on February 21, 2025 our lawn was treated and since then has begun to die. We have been trying for weeks to get Tru Green to come out and take a look and help us solve the problem. We explicitly told them not to apply any more chemicals to the lawn until we figured this out. Today, they showed up and applied more chemical to the lawn and never once contacted us or tried to have an appointment with us so that we could talk this through together. I have been with this company since they came to Roseville. I started with Scott's about 12 years ago and stayed with TruGreen when they purchased Scott's. I'm canceling my service today. I'm done. My lawn is by far the worst looking on my street and I'm the only house that doesn't do my own fertilizer. For the price, I expect to have green grass year round. Their last service manger that came out told me the company doesn't even give them the equipment to test the chemical levels in the soil so they have to guess what the lawn needs. What a joke. Sales person that came told me they used a proprietary blend for weed treatment that can be spray on flowers and plants. I ask specially if it was the same as round up and the sales person laughed and said it's nothing like round up. He said round up kills everything but their proprietary blend solution does not kill flowers or plants. It only target weeds. When the lawn care person came, I found out that he sprayed glyphosate; the main active ingredient of round up. It's basically the same as round up. I don't appreciate being lied to by the sales person just so he can make his commission. I cancelled my subscription and will NOT be paying my bill since you guys contaminated my mulches with glyphosate. read more

My lawn looks worse now than before I hired. I specifically advised that front yard should not be touched as HOA manages. Only wanted back yard care. On video, I have recorded the service person showing up, fertilizing the front, then leaving. I am charged for weed/feed and mosquito treatment for back yard. He never went in the back yard! About 1.5 years ago I contacted TruGreen for lawn care. Having used their service before in another state, I was optimistic that they could also help out with my lawn now. We had A LOT of weeds. I let the representative know that this was the situation and suggested someone come out to look at my lawn. This would not be needed I was told. I was assured that they could take care of it and they had a "guarantee" that they would be cared for. Realizing that this would take more than one or two applications, I was patient but informed them of the lack of progress. They came for some additional applications, however, have not been successful. I had sent emails and made phone calls in an attempt to resolve this. I just today received a call from "corporate" initially saying they denied my refund request, then said they would cover half of it. I'm not looking for a hand out. I'm looking for them to stand behind their promise. I'm hoping to be able to change my review but I feel like this is literally the only recourse I have. From the VERY beginning service with this company went from bad to worse. 1. They billed my credit card incorrectly so I had to call to correct that. 2. My credit card was hacked and had to be shut down. 3. First service did not result in ANY dead weeds so it was necessary to re-call as they promise to return and retreat at no expense. It took multiple days and calls to reschedule. 4. Service representative did not have the necessary materials needed to perform the service. Therefore I was supposed to call to have the service rep come back out with the proper materials. Both of these issues meant multiple call backs and calls to customer service. 5. Service representative showed up in the dark to perform service. (How can they see what they are looking at in the dark). 6. Due to the variety of call-backs to do the job correctly I am being told that I have received all my service calls when I am still due one for the month of December. After a lengthy call to a supervisor he ceased to be able to hear me and told me to call him back. Wow I should've looked at the reviews before I hired them for service they are very disappointing. Late May my sod began to die I called Trugreen to get it turned around. A few weeks later a person showed up and told me it was heat stress. I didn't really agree with that diagnosis only because we haven't had much of a heat wave in early June not enough to affect my lawn and that way. So he put down some fertilizer and told me he would see me in six weeks. I told him my sod would be dead by then. Fast forward to now most of my sod is dead. Calling Customer Service is a nightmare.
