They were able to make a normally very stressful process almost stress-free, so much so that all I had to do was say "yes or no" when it came to key decisions. The Construction & More team took lead in the painful parts of dealing with permitting, PG&E, and subcontractors. They also got us in contact with their preferred vendors to help us with discounts on appliances, finishes and other materials we needed to purchase out of pocket. Overall, I found the Construction & More team extremely professional, transparent, organized, communicative and punctual when it came to the end-to-end process. They truly helped guide us through the process so we didn't have any surprises and helped us navigate any hiccups that came up. Normally, construction companies get a bad rap of being dishonest and trying to add in hidden fees and such, but Construction & More is a truly forthcoming and hardworking group of contractors who have your best interest at heart when it comes to your project no matter how big or small. For the process itself, we began with a consultation at our home to walk through the work we wanted the Construction & More team to do. For us, it was a full renovation which included removing a kitchen wall to create an open concept kitchen & living room, adding a mud room, expanding the master bedroom, moving the front and garage doors, as well as moving the ceilings to create a more open space. After the consultation was completed, we met with Avi & Joseph at their office to discuss an estimate and timeline for the work we needed done about (6-months time, pending no delays). Avi & Joseph respected our budget and were upfront and honest of how to stay within the budget and what were non-negotiables that we needed to get done. They really helped us understand what work was critical and what were nice to have to make our living space better. Once we agreed on the work, they promptly sent over a contract for signature, created a whatsapp group for real time communication, and next steps. Overall this initial process took about a week after negotiations and contract reviews. Once construction began, the team coordinated all the work. They made sure that all moving parts were well executed while setting a realistic timeline for the work to be done. All the subcontractors and tradesmen were effectively scheduled, where there wasn't a single day where there was no work being done. I felt that the team ensured that the construction was moving swiftly and the crew was respectful of our space. The crew made sure that our home was properly locked up and cleaned up after each day's work. Additionally, all the detailed finishing work was measured and completed with precision, where all the tiles placed were measured with a laser. As a bonus, the crew was also super respectful to our neighbors which is an extra plus! If you're considering a renovation of any size, but especially a full home renovation, I could not rave more about Construction & More. All prior interior work in our house had been done by handyman. I really appreciated the communication from our project manager Marc. He created a WhatsApp chat with me and the incredible designer Jocelyn. They were both consistently responsive to any of my questions or concerns -- and opened my mind to design options. Jocelyn spent time in our home, drafted plans, took me shopping, and sourced all the fixtures. From her spreadsheet I was able to find less expensive options for some items. I appreciated the input and control I had on these expenses. Since we needed to move out, I had a tight timeline for the project -- mid October until Thanksgiving. Marc and the team did their best despite City of San Jose delays with inspections. We were able to move back in before the final inspection. Every member of the team was kind and courteous. Marc also did a great job working with the window vendor that specializes in older homes. I'm rating the experience a 4.5 out of 5 for two reasons. I was disappointed that the medicine cabinet, switch plates, and hooks were initially installed unevenly (it was corrected). I expected more attention to detail. And I was disappointed in the wear & tear that happened on my wood floors as well as the overall dust in my dining room. I was warned that things would get dusty -- but didn't understand the extent and would have packed away more things. WISE offers lots of support with design -- they could also offer as part of their package a full cleaning! I offer this feedback to help others calibrate their expectations. We initially got a quote for redoing our driveway and a retaining wall. It was full of weeds and…read moreovergrown. My mother in law agreed with the quote and they got started on the work immediately. They attacked the driveway first and seems like they got all the weeds and old rock out in one day which was impressive. We get a text later that day saying that if we put back the old rock, there's a high chance that the weeds will be growing back sooner than later. When we got the quote, we told Danny that our main focus with the driveway was to prevent weeds and maintenance for as long as possible. It seemed pretty reasonable that putting new rocks would prolong any new weeds from growing back soon. We opted to pay the additional 5500 dollars. After 1 month, I saw weeds breaking through the rocks and a whole line of weeds on every edge of the driveway. I eventually text Danny to see if they can come by to see why there were weeds growing through the rocks after only 1 month. It took some phone calls and some texts but he said he finally came personally to the house while everyone was at work and told us that the neighbors had some weeds and thats why we can see weeds so soon. I took a closer look and saw that the weeds were actually growing through the weed barrier, not on top. He said he would send a crew to come and correct the problem but that day never came. He gave me 2 days that he said a crew would come, but never did. It was great working with them when we owed them money. The were on time, curtious to everyone they came across and even went above and beyond what was needed for the job. The fact that we were up sold another $5500 worth of product to help fix our issue, but then within a month, see that the new rocks didn't help at all. I'm not exactly sure on the final price but it was over 15k for the job on the driveway, that's a lot of money just to have someone essentially just pull your weeds and have them grow back so soon. The retaining wall came out great. I wouldn't hire this company for landscaping but maybe they do a better job in other areas. Update: they did comeback and correct the issue. They also put in a plan for the future to make sure the weeds don't return.
