I have always been afraid to go to a chiropractor from further hurting my back, but a friend of mine recommended Dr. Shah and I couldn't be happier. When he was treating me, he was telling me everything he was doing step by step so there were no surprises. I felt completely safe and secure. Since high school I have been dealing with chronic lower back pain, and whatever I would do, I would never be back to 100%. I have been going to a PT for a very long time, and it still hasn't been able to get resolved. Ever since I have been going to Dr. Shah, my pain has subsidized tremendously and I am actually able to play sports again. He did ultrasound, sent electrical pulses, massaged and adjusted my lower back which did wonders. I come to him regularly and really could not be more thankful. One time I hurt my shoulder while working out to the point that I was unable to move my arm without shrieking from pain. I called Dr. Shah with my symptoms and he said that my rib probably needs to be realigned. I thought this was crazy talk since it was clear my shoulder was hurting. I came in with a tight right hip and I thought it was a hamstring thing on the right side. Not only did Dr. Shah diagnose everything that was wrong with me, he fixed it in the first visit! I ended up having an extremely tight left hamstring and really tight right buttock, and he fixed me up effortlessly while I've been spending the past years trying to fix it on my own. The next instance is when I had to take an 8 hour bus ride. At this point, I was seeing Dr.shah on a weekly basis so I knew what being aligned felt like. After I stepped off that bus, I knew I was contorted and after the 2nd visit in the span of 3 days, I felt like I never even went on the bus. Chiropractic is for everyone. Injury brings you in but chiropractic plays a huge role in preventative care. If anything feels off or unbalanced, I highly urge you to see Dr. Shah. He gives you mobility drills to do on your own and schedules you appropriately to make sure you get the care you need, without giving you the sense of coming in more than you need to. This review is for Hayley - I have seen her for a little over a month now, and she is an absolutely PHENOMENAL acupuncturist and dry needling expert. I came in with excruciating neck and back pain on the left side of my body due to an emotional trauma, and with Hayley's care, we have been able to resolve 90% of my pain in that area. Hayley is also very passionate about her work - she works in an interactive way with her patients to help them get better in a joint effort. I especially appreciated her curiosity in my condition and what muscle groups were affected by my trauma, and she was even willing to try dry needling in an area that's not commonly done (the left armpit region). For everyone else, Dr. Shah is a master at pinpointing root causes as to why you're experiencing pain and how to overcome those issues through his practical application of his extensive knowledge of the body. Dr. Shah incorporates not only chiropractic work but Graston technique and active release therapy (ART). Combine all 3 and this is a dream come true for anyone who wants to relieve chronic pain, injury, or assist with their athletic performance. Here's another dream come true: Dr. Shah unlike many chiropractors takes health insurance which can save you a lot of money and headaches with paperwork over other chiropractor. Dr. Shah will not only help your muscle imbalances, posture, and nagging pain, but he would show you specific exercises that will help you improve your condition. It takes the guess work out of the equation when you're on your road to recovery which can save a lot of time. I've met with Dr. Shah 16 times at the time of this review. I had chronic tensor fasciae latae (TFL) pain which is pain located by the hip. It's a common injury for runners and people who squat. I've dealt with this nagging issue for nearly a year. Within my first visit of meeting with Dr. Shah, my pain has been alleviated thanks to his Graston technique. In case you are not familiar with Graston technique, it is a therapeutic method for treating disorders of skeletal muscle and connective tissue. While unpleasant, it will remove scar tissue that causes tightness from years of abuse from an athletic endeavor. The benefit is that the chronic pain improves after each session with Dr. Shah along with improved mobility and the added benefit of preventing reoccurring injury. My hips could barely shift when I first visited Dr. Shah and now my range of motion has increased significantly. I can proudly say today that my TFL pain is no longer there! Active release therapy is also performed which can help introduce healing to areas that are tweaked. Whether Graston or ART is better does not matter as Dr. Shah can apply techniques as appropriate to your situation (ART can be a bit more forgiving in the amount of discomfort although it can still be unpleasant). I've found Graston and ART to work well in my treatment. This makes squatting heavy pain free. Combined with Dr. Shah's chiropractic work, you'll gain improved posture and balance out any imbalances you have with your right and left side of your body which can be key to preventing additional injuries. I only wish I visited someone like Dr. Shah sooner (years sooner) to prevent my chronic TFL injury and pain. Imagine all the gains I could've realized had I just stopped being so stubborn. Dr. Shah first helped my wife with her back problems and that is how I found out about Truspine. She also received dry needling from Haley, which I have experienced before (not with Haley, yet) and can not recommend enough. I have had three sessions with Dr. Shaw and a few things stand out. First, I really appreciate that he wants to know as much about my background and physical history as possible. I have more trust with the treatment, which I think is important with chiropractors. Second, he recommends foam rolling exercises and demonstrates them and really puts the ball back in my court, which is what I need. I went in for accpuncture because my feet and legs were hurting after the SF half marathon. First of all, Hayley is an awesome accupuncturist. She identified the cause was tightness in my hips. I felt much better after and the pain completely went away the next day. This was remarkable bc I am used to feeling it for a week or two in my previous half marathons. I also loved how peaceful the environment is. I was very comfortable and relaxed while the needles did their work. I have been going to chiropractors for many years. There are some chiropractors that are too forceful, some that can't get the adjustment right, some that are great in the beginning, but then will get lazy (busy?) and perform the same adjustments over and over as if your body does not change. Dr. Shah is great, he checks what areas are out of alignment, instead of adjusting the same spots every time. The neck adjustments that could be scary are now my favorite thing (tension headaches gone instantly!). I saw him throughout the pregnancy, which allowed me to stay pretty active and relatively pain free up to the end - no swollen legs! He also gives advice on exercise and different gadgets to relieve back pain (no, he does not get commission, you buy your own from the seller). I am an all around endurance athlete. As I am aging though, minor injuries I ignored in the past started to bother me more and more. On top of it, life got busier - meaning more time in front of a computer. When I first went to see Dr. Shah, I didn't have any high expectations. I have been to chiropractors before and nothing major happened for me. This time I just knew I had to do something and give this another chance. Even during the first consultation visit, Dr. Shah provided treatment and I started to feel better since then. After more than 2 months of regular sessions, I started to observe improvements. With old injuries, there is no other alternative. What I like the most is that every session, I have Dr. Shah's full involvement with the treatment and follow ups. If you've never had acupuncture or are a regular patient (like me), you must see Hayley. After trying out so many acupuncturists, I have found the one. She's magic! She just knows what your body needs. I came in with a frozen shoulder and she gave me mobility after the 1st session. This takes a while to cure naturally, and while I'm not yet 100% mobile, I can do almost everything again and no longer in pain (I've had 4 sessions with her). She fixes me up with other things as well. I also highly recommend her facial rejuvenation - after a session, it was incredible to see both my eyes look so open and bright, my jawline defined. I seriously have to believe most of these reviews are drummed up. Nice location, nice facility, and seemingly nice guy. I went to Shah because I had an off balance feeling while walking, especially in the morning walk to work. Basically told him my symptoms, which was only an off balance feeling without no pain. I was skeptical going to him, due to the 7 reviews (which is very little compared to the rest of the Chiropractors in SF). The only reason I picked Shah is because it's right down the road from my APT and he is opened on Saturday. Upon examination he did the necessary things attempting to find the cause of my symptom. He said my C-1 was out of place and made 3 adjustments to my C-1. Low and behold, the off balance feeling didn't improve at all. So he suggested that I come in 2-3 times a week. So before I went to him again, I went to an ENT Doctor. They said my off balance feeling was due to balance issues within my inner ear (which has since been cleared up). I give him a low rating because he adjusted me without even referring me to get an X Ray. Shah made my life a living hell because after he adjusted me, I experienced slight left arm weakness, severe neck stiffness (to the point I couldn't lift my neck upright for longer than 2 mins), headaches, and jaw ache. I went to a more experienced and home friendly Chiropractor that took X Rays (like a Chiropractor is suppose to do) and gave me really good advice as to not let a Chiropractor touch your spine unless they have an X Ray. Basically Shah is an inexperienced Chiropractor that most likely adjusted me wrong to keep me coming back again and again. Sad, but I think it's true. I knew I should've never went to him from the corporate feel, due to being a corporate company. I just can't recommend Shah. Go to an old school Chiropractor instead. read more
