Not an easy task on our nearly 80 old house with a very steep pitch roof. They provided the latest materials available using Hardie siding ,PVC facia, and PVC crown molding attached with stainless steel fasteners. We have a real suite--including ceiling to floor cabinets-- which are custom and real wood. And we now have a laundry room/half bath! The improvements weren't just cosmetic. We wanted to upgraded our HVAC ducts, electric, plumbing, crawlspace, insulation, siding, gutters, and subfloor. It was affordable! Every contractor and inspector, everyone who saw this project was impressed with the quality of the work, the thoroughness and the attention to detail. Price was extremely competitive. Communication was great. No surprises. Runion is family oriented and utterly trustworthy--and they listen. These are enthusiastic, talented people, professional, pleasant, knowledgable and creative people--and a pleasure to get to know. Old houses are a can of worms once you start opening up walls, but any hurdle our old house presented these folks helped us turn into structural and aesthetic improvements. Unmatched work ethic, and top shelf contractors work for them. You always hear folks complain when they're having work done--we can honestly say it was a pleasant experience from day one. For those who dont want to read...the end product agreed upon is fantastic and very well built...I…read morewould even go as far as to say overbuilt...which is good. I truly dont think you will find a better product in the Wilmington area....they truly build great decks....for those that want to read....I will take you thru our process..... If you want a quick turnaround on your deck, dont count on it, it will take several months. They are busy. Process- Salesman arrives in March...he is fantastic and helps us solve a couple of issues we had concerns with...two other companies did not. He explained procedure....10% down, if you cancel you lose half of your deposit...40% when they start and balance of 50% when project completed. You will have to submit plans to HOA for approval, they will take care of all the other permits...very convenient. We had our down payment in by the end of March and were put in Que...we were told the completion date would be mid June to late June.....their price was higher than the other two quotes....significantly, however; the product and design offered is far superior...pay the money, you wont be sorry. No communication from the end of March forward until I contacted them during the first week of June to ask about start dates....I was told they were waiting on permits...so I checked on line...its public information...our permits were not put in until May 31st....this delayed the build...the project started around July 17th and was completed on August 2nd. I feel the permits could of gone in much sooner to keep on schedule. There were a couple of hiccups during the build that we caught before they became a major issue...I would highly recommend you be home for the build to insure it is how you envisioned the project. These minor issues were solved easily and without concern, but if they were not caught before/during construction could of been an issue. One of the issues was a change we made after agreeing to a certain build height of the pergola, but while watching it being built realized it was to low...they raised it, no problem. The other was a cosmetic design that was sold to us but was not conveyed to the contractor....this was also caught early and rectified. The last was the underpinning...we thought it was included with the build because the deck was two levels and found out at the end it was not. They gave us a very fair price to add it on and completed it without hassle. They also gave us a price to have the pergola painted once it has time to weather. All of the Owners/team members I had contact with were easy to deal with....Glenn, Mark, Dino and Josue were fantastic. The deck is awesome, constructed extremely well and in the end thats what matters....I would chose them again without question.
