Mastin Accounting has been falsely advertising its tax services for years. They used to say they…read morewere certified by the IRS; but the IRS doesn't certify any tax preparers. After years of advertising they were IRS Certified they finally changed their ad to not include IRS Certification. They now say they are Fiduciaries, but routine tax preparation or standard accounting services do not in themselves create a fiduciary relationship, though they still require professional care.

They then didn't respond to phone calls or emails. I went to the office during office hours but it was closed. I eventually had to find another accountant to do my taxes. I definitely don't recommend using them.

Although the tax prep fee he would be charging was high, in our opinion, we decided to go with him. We sent a summary and PDF of all relevant docs to him on 2/16/23. On 3/15/23 we reached out to see what the status was. His office responded 2 days later saying our returns would be done on or before the next Fri., 3/24. On 3/25 we emailed, again, stating that Fri had come and gone and we had still not heard anything from his office & if our returns were in fact still not done to simply shred anything they had of ours. Mon, 3/27/23 still no response so we sent a final email stating their silence was confirmation the work was not done and to shred our docs. This was almost SIX weeks after receiving our paperwork. I reached out to our daughter's CPA and had our returns complete and filed within 3 days. The lack of any communication at all on their part is inexcusable and extremely unprofessional. If he can't prepare a return in 6 weeks, he needs to lighten his client base and also needs a course on professional etiquette.
