Absolutely terrible service. I have never experienced such disorganization with any other clinic. The clinic submitted an incorrect medical billing code to our insurance company for one of the components of a complete blood count (CBC), which prevented the test from being covered. I spent more than a month dealing with this issue and trying to get it resolved. Our insurance company specifically asked the clinic to contact them so they could work together to identify the correct billing code and resolve the problem. However, the clinic showed complete indifference and ignored the issue. They didn't even attempt to help, simply saying, "We don't know, we don't have any other codes." In the end, because of the clinic's mistake and lack of concern, I had to pay the bill out of my own pocket, even though it should have been covered by insurance. read more

Dermatology practice is impossible to get an appointment with. Even if you're an existing patient of Tryon Medical with a referral from Tryon Medical they treat you like a "new patient" and appointments are few and far between. None earlier than 6 mos out even if the need is great. No empathy. read more

I cannot understand all the negative reviews. I have been a patient since MMG closed. My physician, Dr. Kennelly, and her nurse Kara are the best! I've had responses to my emails before I've even gotten back to sit down on my sofa! They are incredibly responsive. I also see Dr. Smith from time to time and he too is excellent. Dr Meredith Faulkner is the ABSOLUTE BEST!! The entire staff is great! I've been her patient for quite a few years and wherever she moves to, I follow her! Nothing like a PHYSICIAN that treats you and talks to you like "FAMILY"!! I had blood drawn on this last visit and even the Phlebotomist (black lady) was phenomenal!! I called the Billing Dept three days last week to ask if they had rec'd my payment that I was billed for and payed. I held on line for awhile, then as instructed left my telephone number each time! No return call. I then decided to just hold until someone answered. Held for ten to fiften minutes each time, then had to hang up. Decide to hold for the duration today. It has been 37 minutes and 10 seconds as of now according to my celphone. I will go to the billing department or write a letter to the Supervisor there regarding this issue....as if it will do any good! Does every medical business use that old "short staffed"? read more

I was at TryonMedical Southpark in Nov. 2024. The front office people are nasty. The worker I got yelled in a blaring, nasty tone "next patient please" to the line. I arrived at the desk of this woman seated all the way to the right side, with black hair, dyed into yellow ringlets. She was hidden behind one or two huge computer screens. I could see only the top of her head. She made no attempt to make eye contact. She did not move her head either up or to the side. She spoke to me from behind her screen. She did not greet me. I finally moved myself over to get some eye contact. She blinked slowly and muttered "can I help you?" I named the doctor I was there to see. She put some papers on a clipboard and handed it to me, saying nothing. As I turned to walk away, she said "you're welcome." Mind you, I hadn't thanked her for anything because she was rude. I turned back around and said "Are you being sarcastic to me?" She said "a little" in a smug tone of voice. A few days later, I called the office manager, wanting to let her know. I never got a call back. Conclusion: It's okay with the owners of this practice to employ front office workers who treat customers like the enemy. No, thank you. For all their faults, Novant and Atrium at least don't treat me like I'm scum. Don't go here unless you enjoy being treated like enemy scum. read more

I've been seeing Dr Shelton for years. When they announced some of the doctors from the MMG-Southpark location were splitting off from Atrium health, I was a little scared- probably cause in my old age I am really used to my "ways." I ended up following my doctor because he is a really good doctor and has taken good care of me through the past decade. The new Tryon Medical Partners is pretty much down the road from the old MMG office. It's in a high rise building so the elevator ride is a little longer, but you get some nice views from the waiting room. The office is brand spanking new- bright and airy... with modern furnishings. I recognized a lot of the staff that must have followed their doctors away from the corporate conglomerate structure. Everyone seems a little happier- everything is fresh and new but it does make a difference in the care provided if people are happier and they are less focused on getting people "through the machine". Before my appointment you can communicate with the doctor through the online portal. By the time I got to work after my appointment, my doctors notes were already there waiting for me based off the assessments from my physical today. I did some lab work too and the results will be posted. Overall I'm glad I made the move to the new practice. Time will tell, but regardless of the building or location, it's important for me to get care from people I trust and are in a good position to call their own shots. read more

Great Endocrinologist!! I am very happy with Dr. Brantley. Not sure why there's such bad reviews on here, but I guess judge it by who you are seeing. I have been seen by a Novant affiliated doctor and was very upset over my experience. 10 minute visit (which I have overheard a Novant doctor discussing 15 minute scheduling with his nurses before) followed by sending me somewhere else for an utrasound, then somewhere else for bloodwork, only to go back and sit for 10 minutes to hear what the radiologist told him. It's refreshing not to have a doctor associated with Novant or Atrium that takes their time with your visit, patiently answers questions and has the equipment in the examination room, ANNNDD the doctor does the ultrasound himself. I will not be changing to anyone else for my thyroid health. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. I showed up for my appointment 7 minutes late because of a traffic accident that I was behind. They make me wait at every visit but this time was my turn. ONE time late in years of being a patient (and referring countless people to the practice). The lady at the desk was beyond nasty. My pulmonologist left the practice, my Gastro doctor left. PATIENTS BEWARE!! Dr. Rojas charge you premium without examining you. That is what it happen to me. On 8/2023 I went to see Dr. Rojas at Southpark Tryon Medical Partner. My ankles were swelling and she look at them and said that one of my meds that it is a water pill contributing to that now she said I did not understand her. She did not touch my ankles just look at them and boom she billed me premium. She recommended to go and see another doctor (veins). My bill from her was very high for only talking to her that day. I requested for lower bill and I honestly can say she gave me a wrong diagnosis. I was denied . Some doctors just do not care we are a number and profit for them. So sad. read more

After 3 years with tryon I will not be returning . I tried making an appointment in Southpark after I jammed my thumb , but was told it would be 2 months before I could get an appointment . What good would that do . I hope there are doctors that care for their patients . Maybe accepting no NEW patients might help .$$$$$$$$$$ read more

I do not recommend this medical practice to anyone. The receptionists were very unfriendly and impersonal upon arrival. During my intake with Dr. Shelton's nurse, she asked if I would be willing to cover all expenses not covered by insurance no fewer than four times and I signed two documents agreeing to the financial obligation. This was for a standard well visit. I understand this is a business, but they make it overly apparent that they are more interested in immediate payment over providing service. All patients have to carry a blue sheet that the physician uses to note additional charges if the patient asks questions beyond what is allowed for that visit. It is hard to know what is covered and made me stop asking the doctor questions all together. I've been to a couple medical practices and this is the only one where they badger an insured patient about covering expenses during the appointment. Additionally, they are only open during normal business hours which makes it hard to come for lab work without taking time off from work. read more

As I type this, I am on the phone, waiting on hold to speak with any human at Tryon Medical. I have now been on hold for 1 hour and 6 min with no end in sight. I've been treated to more than an hour of overly loud hold music. I have a few relatively easy questions, which would require 60 seconds to address by a human, yet I can't talk to a human. Their online portal has an AI-generated chat feature, but it forces a choice of 8 options, none of which are close to what I need. read more

I guess this is just the state of medical care in the US, but I feel overcharged and under treated. I spend more time waiting to see the doctor than actually being seen by the doctor. Then they can't get their billing right. After they sent me to collections - they still had the charges on my account. I had to contact them to get them to get in contact with the collector who had cleared my debt. The collector was confused because they had already sent them notification that I satisfied my debt. Finally, it was taken care of and cleared. But honestly, $240 to see a doctor for less than 15 minutes is criminal. read more

If I could leave half a star I would. The Doctors here are amazing and personable - I feel like they truly care about each patient, no matter what department I go to. However, the Finance department is the worst I have ever had to deal with. Not only have they tried to charge me out of pocket twice, (even though they have my insurance on record) they double charged me for my co-pay!! I even spoke with someone to dispute it and they told me everything was fine. After that, I stopped receiving letters about owing them. Friday, I received a collections notice about that same co-pay! I have never had such a terrible experience before in my life. Even when I do have a bad experience I don't leave bad reviews, but this has been awful!!! I don't think I'll be back just because of these issues. It's not worth having to clean up after them because their finance department can't do their jobs correctly. This has to be the most impersonal , unprofessional, unorganized medical facility I've experienced in my 20+ years of adulting. Tryon medical southpark does not care about you as a patient, or your personal life moments that may conflict with your scheduling. I highly reccomend you do not come here if you are a working parent or need an endocrine specialist. The only positive about this group is Dr. Melissa James, but I had to leave because the other negative factors and uninviting staff outweigh her shine. Dr. Mary Stowe has been my internal medical doctor for over 16 years. She is patient, caring, and very knowledgeable. In addition, when she has ordered tests for me or made referrals it gets done. I've heard many comments over the years by other staff who also hold her in high regards. I was very happy to follow Dr. Stowe to TMP. She along with the other doctors and staff here really do care and give a high level of care to their patients. I've been to two other TMP offices for labs when SP location was not as convenient to work. No problems with Dr. Stowe getting lab results or x-rays. They accept many plans of insurance (check their website), and have a relationship with Atrium (former CMC/CHS) and Novant Health to suit your preference. I've never had anyone badger me or be rude if I chose to self-pay over using an insurance plan. They share a large parking lot with The Residence Inn. I had no problem with parking. The practice does offer complimentary valet which is very nice should you have physical limitations or poor weather. No surprise there is currently construction on Piedmont Drive South so be aware of trucks, and only one car being able to move through at a time. read more

I won't be going back as they charged me for my physical (which is supposed to be free). They did this last year also, so this year I made sure that I stated to every Tryon Medical person that I was there for my free physical. The lady that checked me in for the visit asked if I wanted to prepay. I said no, I'm getting a physical which is free. She said if you ask any question of the doctor, they will charge you for an office visit. I told her it was just a checkup and did not need to ask anything. Well they sent me a message that frankly did not make any sense. I agree with previous posters that something stinks in the billing department. read more

Dr Bowen has been my primary caregiver for over 10 years. I was pleased to see him move to Tryon Medical. I'm very impressed with the offices, and how most everything you need can be accommodated in the same building (X rays, labs, etc.). The administration of the office is done well also - using tablets and often being ahead of schedule. The offices are also very nice and clean. I HIGHLY recommend TMP to anyone as a great place to headquarter your health care. read more

Been going here for years now and Dr. Springs is a wonderful endocrinologist. Starting transferring all of my family's primary care to this facility as well. Every time I go, I'm greeted by name and am able to check in swiftly. The facility has been kept with social distancing guidelines and is always well cleaned. Front desk nurses and staff are always welcoming and friendly. I hope to continue to go here for years to come. read more

I have been going to Tryon Medical Partners since they opened and to several different specialities. I have been totally impressed with the care that I have received in all departments. Not only has the care been of the highest quality but I have always felt like I have been treated with respect and kindness, had all my questions answered thoroughly and never felt rushed. All personnel, from receptionists to doctors, have given me the best care. I have always been able to be seen the same day when necessary although not necessarily with my regular practitioner. I think the doctors are great. They take the time to ask questions and explain issues. The issue I have is the EKG technician at the South Park Office is not too friendly to the diverse population. She is very rude, snappy, talking down at folks, unable to communicate. I noticed right off she was probably from New York and I was told she was. That is not an excuse. If folks from New York want to work with the public, then they need to be more hospitable otherwise stay in a backroom and not deal with folks. This will definitely turn folks away and make your business bad. I have yet schedule my dads follow up because I'm dreading to deal with her before I leave to go back home. read more

Horrific Medical Facility. The support staff nurses, billing dept, receptionist, etc. are absolutely woeful! Life is too short to have a doctor where you are spending 2-3 weeks of phone calls and messages for one prescription. This was the case with a particular Rx every time I had to have it filled here. I actually watched one nurse scream/yell at another phlebotomist who worked with Labcorp on the 5-6th floor of this building one time so bad that the poor phlebotomist was balling and crying. I had to try and console this poor woman while she was trying to take my blood. Another time I spent 18 months going round and round with Tryon Medical Partners billing department over incorrect charges from one single visit. ONE VISIT!!! The final straw was when the receptionist hung up on me in mid sentence when I was saying "will you let me speak". His office is the HOOD!!! Avoid it like the PLAGUE!!!! read more

This was my first time at this location as I followed My PCP here and the building was a bit complicated to find but once you know where you are going, it is non-issue. The building has complimentary valet parking and also had a door man which is very nice. The building is big, new and beautiful. I did arrive earlier than I needed to and the waiting room was empty but still was not taken back early so don't expect it. The girl sitting at the front desk of the 8th floor was not friendly at all. She requested to see my license (asked if everything on it was current) as well as a copy of my insurance card which I had ready. She entered info into her computer, generated some paperwork and asked that I confirm everything was correct on it and to fill everything out. - my first (full) name was spelled completely wrong which is frustrating because A) she saw both my license and card and B) if I would have not caught that, I would have ended up experiencing problems with my insurance including a denial. Otherwise besides that everything went well. Doc's nurse was nice and took me back at the exact time of my appointment and did my intake. Did not have to wait long as my doc came into my exam room quite promptly after his nurse walked out. After that went into the lab for my blood draw and the nurse was personable and friendly as well. Overall my experience was good and I plan on following up and returning next year. read more

The doctors are generally great but the billing department is horrible. This practice overall borders on unethical and fraudulent in my opinion - they give you forms to fill out and then charge you for completing the form - without telling you that the form was optional and was an added service. And ditto for the office visit - if you want a well visit - you can't discuss anything else or you are charged a sick visit. I'm menopausal/peri-menopausal so when the Dr asks about sleeping and I say, not the best sleep, they can only discuss it further if you agree to a sick visit charge. It is ridiculous that age appropriate items are charged as a sick visit. The only thing a well visit is good for is your annual blood work. read more

This was my first appointment. I arrived early to my appointment. My GPS took me to the wrong location. I called the office for Assistance with locating them. The girl who answered the phone sounded uneducated, clueless and as if she couldn't help herself. I spent ten minutes on the phone trying to get assistance. Finally I just said forget it and hung up. I finally found my way but was late. The secretarial staff was not pleasant either. They documented lies in my notes and the doctor refused to see me after that. The manager called me to tell me that they wouldn't see me and was equally as rude. read more

I have several doctors that have moved to Tryon Medical Partners group. With any new large business with so many functions I expected some glitches. I was pleasantly surprised. The facilities are clean the staff are professional and extremely courteous, going the extra mile to meet every expectation. Appointments are on time, and costs per visit are less. I have repeatedly been amazed at the time they spend to solve my very complicated issues, the thoroughness of the doctor's questions and the wisdom and freedom they have to think outside the box to provide a well researched wholistic plan of treatment. If I could give this practice zero stars I would. They are billing fraudulently for services. I have been a patient since they opened and get charged different prices for the same service. I went in for an annual physical and they charged me an office visit due to my answering the doctor's questions. Apparently I was supposed to stay silent. I went in for a change in medicine because one was giving me side effects, should have been an office visit but they charged me 3x the price - $600! A recent procedure at a hospital cost less than this office visit. Don't mention the word anxiety or they will overcharge. I spent 45 minutes just now trying to find the billing department rep to speak with and was put into a three ring circus of IVR and people forwarding me around. They raise my blood pressure and make me cry more than any health concern ever did. read more
