We hosted our wedding at Trysting Tree a few days ago. It was a wonderful experience. Sean Arey (Head pro) and Bry Holman (cafe manager) along with two members of staff, worked hard to make the event run really smoothly, and it did. The staff were helpful and solicitous. The large party room attached to the cafe is open at each end, and the party flowed out onto the patios. There were about 80 of us, and the room accommodated us easily. The food, catered by the cafe, was fresh, delicious and attractively served. The cost was VERY reasonable. Our guests had a lovely time. Good sound system! Kudos to the entire team! read more

always wanted to play here. the name sounds sort of from a fairy tale. Anyway, I like heading south for golf and my family had a coupon. We drove there one Friday this Summer, had a great time. Course appeared very nice from entry and it didn't disappoint. Check-in with COVID and everything was straightforward. There were folks there, but we didn't encounter a lot while golfing, seemed pretty quiet while out playing. Course is a bit short for me, I played from the Orange tees, probably could have played a further bit back, but I didn't know any better. I parred the first hole - a good start. Lot of small moguls throughout. We enjoyed nice weather. I liked how the tee markers were bright orange and easy to spot. Although, twice during the round we got turned around and headed the wrong way in the cart. Guess that happens a lot - as some friendly walkers pointed us in the right diretion. Looked like patio was open for beverages and the pro shop had nice merch. Think we saw the Trysting Tree at entry, it's massive and all twisted up and gnarled. read more

Never encountered so much disrespect by golf pros at a course. Complaining about pace of play when there is nobody waiting behind us and we are still maintaining a good pace. Employees have said pretty unchill things to beginners in my group which has made them have a bad first experience with golf. Snobby, entitled and down right disrespectful. A long links type course, so it's pretty flat and wide open. It's the course for the Oregon State University Golf Team, but there really isn't too many other courses in the vicinity also. It's a good lush and green classical Oregon links course. It's well manicured and usually the pace of place moves quickly. They have a fairly nice range where most of the time (when it's not raining) you can hit off the grass. Easy to get to since it's right before you get to Oregon State University from I-5. read more

Seems like some find the people working the club house to be less than able and in words of others..douche bags. I couldn't disagree more. We set out to play 18, the course was nice a couple greens getting some sanding but otherwise good. We finished at 9 with the pace going slow and were stopped at the turn and informed that there was a slow late group holding things up at the 10 hole. They just wanted to apologize for the rudeness that that group was displaying and just to give me men options. I opted to just take a rain check (my decision) and they were happy to oblige. I would not recommend this course. Difficult to navigate the front 9 and under construction but the prices reflect some of the most amazing courses in the Portland area. So disappointed! read more

Played the other day, here's my thoughts. Pros: Staff was generally very helpful and did what they could to help out whenever possible. Driving range and practice green are large and the set-up of the clubhouse and practice facilities offer a great setting. Cons: Course was healthy, however maintenance was lacking. Slow, SLOW greens, slowest of any course in the area that I've played. They looked like they hadn't been mowed or rolled in days and your ball always hops along them rather than rolling smoothly. Fairways looked the same way and a couple of the holes the fairway grass was as long as the first cut. I also couldn't believe how soft the course was for how little rain the area gets in the Summer, I had a ball plug in the fairway off the tee! The use of painted rocks for tee markers also was tacky and the course as a whole just felt like the actual golf that you were playing wasn't important and was all about aesthetics. Course design is also very plain and boring. Little to no bunkers, water or anything that makes you think about strategy while playing at all. Bottom Line: Would love to give the place a better review because the property has so much potential, but the course itself just does not live up to what it could be. $44 for 18 holes is an insane amount to be charging for a course that plays as soft and slow as it does. read more

On rare occasion, the experience with service and staff is so incredibly bad , it can overshadow the course itself. We had a 5-some on Dad's Weekend in Corvallis. From the initial phone call to set a tee time, the resident golf pro (guy with a blonde mullet) was short with us, and surprisingly rude. We came in from out of town to see our sons in Corvallis, so we needed to rent clubs. They rented us 3 bags of clubs, and they were absolute garbage. Two of the drivers were broken and unusable, forcing us all to share. I've golfed alot across this great nation of ours, and have yet to experience a snottier, ruder, and less enthusiastic staff in my life. They kept sending out this golf police dude to nip at our heels and push us through faster, even though there was nobody behind us. It became quite annoying for some Dads and Sons who were looking to play a relaxing 9 holes on an otherwise great weekend in Corvallis. The course itself was mediocre at best, and you could tell they put the same level of enthusiasm into the groundskeeping. Leaves and goose crap everywhere. If you're looking for a place to golf in Corvallis, I'd definitely skip this one. Go Beavs read more

Agree with the last review..The course is definitely 3+ stars but the staff is incredibly rude...I came in on a Saturday at around 3:30 and wanted to play. I was told I most likely would only get 9 holes in. I didn't think much of it, because I knew that I was going to play quick (and by myself) and I'd certainly have no problem with the next nine. The counter guy put me on the back nine and I blew through it in about 1hr 20 minutes. There was still at least three hours of sunlight and I assumed that I could go to the 1st tee and finish my round....no way jose.. The guy came out told me I only paid for 9 holes. Fine, I'll pay for the complete 18 holes. Nope, can't do that...we need to get the carts in...Fine, I'll walk...Nope, can't do that will be closing up....Dude, there are still people on the course. I promised not to be the last one off....Nope, can't do that. Sorry, I need to get home and close the place up... This is on a beautiful, non-raining spring Saturday afternoon...Really? We're planning on playing a big golf outing there, and really are reconsidering if this is the right place... read more

Always in great shape, new layout is an improvement. Sean the head pro runs the place well and there is also a well run players club set of tournaments. Great practice facility. Tough to get into too much trouble, fairly open layout. read more

We recently held the monthly meeting of our club at Trysting Tree. We also put together a mini-Scramble prior to the meeting for those members who wanted to participate. My wife made the contacts and reservations for these a month or so in advance. I'm pleased to report that both events went off without a hitch, and were very enjoyable. Sean (Head Pro/GM) was easy and low key to work with. Very warm and welcoming to our group. He blocked out tee times for our groups to play the course together, gave us a discount on the green fees, and made sure the kitchen was staffed to feed a group of our size in a timely manner (The double cheeseburgers are AWESOME!). He even threw in a prize for our tournament (an 18 hole round of golf). We were very appreciative, as that was really unexpected and going above-and-beyond! By the way, we thought the course was in GREAT shape, especially considering the long, HOT summer we have been experiencing. Our experience could not have been better. I gave it 4 stars because the course is nice and generally the staff is very nice. But there is one work they just need to fire. His name is Bob and he is beyond rude everytime my friends and I come in I golf. It's become a reoccurring problem. Other than that the staff is nice and the course is great. read more

I play Trysting when ever I'm in the area. This course has large fairways, sand on about every hole and large smooth fast greens. It is a links style course but is user friendly. The staff seems very friendly and helpful. There is a nice sandwich shop. I would definately recommend this course. read more

The course is well kept but not very challenging. The men in the club house are some of the rudest people I have ever met. They act like you are wasting their time, and the "power" of working at a golf course goes to their head. There driving range balls are always out, and very overpriced. They have poor time management between tee times, and are constantly hassling people on the course. There is another golf course close by that is far superior, a little hidden gem called Marysville on 2020 Sw Allen a dirt road out of Avery park. read more

I play Trysting Tree a lot and have had to put up with OSU Dads that think they are entitled to run the course. 5 somes are not allowed so that pace of play can be maintained. Some of these entitled parents will cause rounds to add up to 3 hours for nine holes if they weren't pushed. These are the ones all the good players complain about for slow play. If this Dad plays golf in Eugene he should have brought his own clubs, my guess is he is a hacker. The staff will bend over backwards if you treat them like any employee. They don't need special treatment, but do understand that they get extremely busy and must monitor the whole course with some Dads weekends maintaining a full course. I can tell this dad dose not play much if he thinks grounds keepers can keep goose droppings off the course. It is highly maintained with good drainage and handles Pac 12 , and state high school championship tourneys. If the range ran out of balls then the course was under heavy use which can be as high as 300 rounds a day Trysting has been rated as high as 10th in the state and is a regular stop for many players swinging down from Portland on their way to Bandon Dunes. It plays well from the white tees, but is long and difficult from the tips. It is one of the best courses in the Valley. As for the other course Marysville is a beginners course that is not on the same level. It is a nice mom and Pop course. So, If you want to play as a group of five, don't have clubs, get drunk and want to play slow please go to Marysville. Trysting is for golfers that want to play and enjoy a beautiful golf course that has lots of wild birds and even some bald eagles( depending on the season). The range is on grass from April 15 to Oct 15, pads in the winter. It is the home course for the OSU Golf team which hosts many Pac 12 events. Players are very welcome! read more
