While on a solo trip to Tulum, I visited Azulik. The entire hotel is quite eclectic, eco friendly and unique. I had the most spectacular experience visiting their Japanese-Mexican restaurant Tseen Ja during sunset hour. It's on the terrace. They work on first come first served basis. The sunset experience opens at 5PM and there's a huge queue so make sure you reach there by 4.30ish to get in line during peak season. I got super lucky as I was alone so staff sneaked me in despite the huge queue. Tseen Ja definitely stands out as it overlooks the Tulum beach and jungle. They had the DJ playing the amazing trans music, transports guests to different world. I ordered a gin based drink. It was priced at $50 (seems pricier) but that also included the entry to the terrace. I didn't try any food. Use your credit card to pay in every restaurant in Mexico because in my experience it gives the best exchange rate. The service was exceptional, and staff was absolutely delightful. They offered to take my pictures/videos for me even without me asking and showed me all the cool spots. I highly recommend visiting Azulik! A must-do in Tulum! Ps. Ambiance - typical jungle vibe in Tulum. Definitely dined in what they called traditional Japanese dining - sitting on pillows/cushions on the ground. Food - overpriced sushi's rolls in the name of upscale and intimate ambiance. Overall nice place to come get drinks and experience dining in the jungle. read more

Tseen Ja is a unique dining experience at Azulik. Reservations are highly recommended, making them weeks in advance. We were celebrating our anniversary so we booked a nest table. They are rather large and rather expensive. $500 USD to use the table. Includes no food/drinks. Then you have to spend $150 USD per person. We splurged. Was it worth it... kinda. The experience was. The sunset was gorgeous. The sound of the waves while watching the sunset was beautiful. The food was good. Nothing great. We went with the Omekase tasting menu. Sometimes food was dropped off with no explanation and we had no idea what we were eating. The flavors were nothing special. But it was good. This was a once in a lifetime experience. read more

What a hidden gem! Amongst the treetops within the Azulik Resort is a high-end, Japanese-Mexican fusion restaurant. The restaurant is only open for dinner and reservations are a must. We managed to snag a 5PM reservation a month or two in advance. The ambiance is absolutely stunning: thatched roofs, woven wooden chairs, etc. You are literally immersed within nature and sitting amongst the treetops. Never experienced anything quite like it. When we went in mid-March, they required us to wear a mask when roaming around, but we were allowed to take it off when seated at the table. Also, no professional cameras allowed (not sure why), but smartphone cameras welcome. Saw lots people posing for pictures around the restaurant, especially by the water. The food and cocktails (around $20 each) were absolutely delicious! The black cod misoyaki melted in my mouth and the local veggie tempura (probably the most I've ever spent at around $17) had some local Mayan squash I'd never tried before and were fried to perfection. We also tried one of each of the desserts. The yuzu marscapone was definitely the favorite. Cocktails, entrees, and desserts came down to around $100 per person for the evening. It was definitely worth the splurge. Can also venture up to their rooftop area and get a spectacular view of the beach, treetops, and bridges. Truly breath-taking. I have never quite experienced anything quite like Tseen Ja. Should definitely check it out if you are planning on visiting Tulum. Just make sure to make a reservation! read more

Overdue review from February 2022 This restaurant isn't getting enough review surprisingly and it should be. Their rolls, drinks, truffle edamame and bone marrow ramen noodle soup were amazing. We appreciated the bold approach in terms of cooking style there and we sort of noticed that many of food we had in Tulum tended to be more creative, bold and assertive than what we're used to in the States. We actually showed up towards the end of the night so we were able to get seated without reservation but I understand that you really should, unless you walk in at the end of the night like we did. We were just hanging out at other Azulik venues, drinking, appreciating night views and didn't really think it through in terms of where we should eat when we started to get hungry. Definitely wouldn't recommend what we did. Make a reservation! Service was great, price was about right considering this being in Tulum (our impression is, yes it is expensive to do things here but it's pretty much comparable to NYC level pricing) Waiters are really versed with social media and the way we should take pictures and all. I guess it's a prerequisite to be a waiter in Tulum. We would definitely come back next time we're in Tulum! read more

Wagyu beef, bluefin tuna nagiri, and spicy tuna rolls were amazing. I am unfortunately leaving this one star review to get the attention to Azulik management. We originally had a dinner reservation (made over a month ago) for Kin Toh. After waiting in line to check in for 25 minutes, the hostess informed us that they changed their menu to a prefixed menu ONLY, which was $195 USD per person, which included 3 courses and no alcohol. No exceptions. I checked the online menu again today AND the confirmation email I received a day before our reservation, and there's no mention of a pre fixed menu and the prices of the individual plates are still listed online. So many people in line (including our party of six) turned around and instead were ushered to Tseen Ja, which must have been completely empty considering they could accommodate all of us. My guess is Tseen Ja has been slow, and so Azulik decided to make up this fake overpriced menu to encourage people to eat there instead of Kin Toh. This is extremely unethical, a complete bait and switch. People plan for over a month to eat at Kin Toh and it's extremely rude to not give any notice of a change from a regular menu to an almost $200 pp prefixed menu! This is my second time visiting Azulik, and I will never go back. I would not recommend visiting either. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. One of the most unique designs and architecture I have ever seen. There are net like hammocks you can lay in, high top tables, tables on the ground, nests outdoors with amazing views, and even private table you have to walk over stones on water to get to and it's surrounded by water on all sides. Very very cool. A must see. The food was also amazing. We had the vegan boa buns, they were so fresh and had great flavor, with a sweet teriyaki sauce and sprouts on top. The veggie roll, so much more than your usual veggie roll, loaded with tons of veggies and topped with even more, this was very filling. The vegan ramen, this was also a whole meal in itself, we definitely over ordered haha but it was delicious, could have used a slight kick of spice to really push it over the top for me on the flavor, but it was very good. And we ended it with the taro dessert which had so many different aspects to it and unique flavors, I would definitely suggest saving room for this dessert. The service is top notch and exactly what you would expect. The prices are a little higher but 100% worth it for the food and the experience. This entire property is adults only and when you visit you will totally understand why haha. read more

If pretentious & unwelcoming energy from staff is what you look for in your dining experience then look no further!!!! We were not even greeted with a "hello/how are you?" Instead we were asked 4 times by various staff if we had a reservation (which I had booked weeks prior for a anniversary getaway) before being shuffled to sit & wait on the side when there was 3 other parties seated in the restaurant at 8:30pm on a Sunday mind you. Once seated with no more than a "flat or sparkling water" from a man stood across the table from us whom we assumed to be our server re-appeared with flat water & began a sad explanation of a featured cocktail & a brief menu overview when I looked less than impressed, he began to explain he knew my dietary restrictions & his partner was the same & she liked ____ & ____. I looked at my partner wanting to crawl out of my skin with the lack luster experience we were having, he asked for a minute to review the menu. I told my partner I couldn't sit here a moment longer so we left but not before paying $10usd for water we each had 1 sip out of. We left & went to Ukami which we had eaten at before & was welcomed with open arms, great food & hospitality. If you want sushi or a fusion of sort, I recommend Ukami otherwise go to Hartwood, both were favorites of mine & my partners. Don't waste your time here!!! read more
