I truly feared all of my files were gone forever. Wedding pictures, baby photos, and vacations we'd taken over the years. Plus all my music and video files. Adam and the Nerd Rangers saved almost everything for me on a 5TB drive. Their pricing is incredibly reasonable. I'd called a couple services that would have needed me to mail off the drive and they quoted me much higher rates as their minimums. I'm so glad I found Nerd Rangers. They're local and kept me updated every step of the way. I can't recommend them enough. Thanks again guys!

They ran their tests, charged me a fee and could not replicate the failure. Once I got the computer home, it crashed once the game was being played and they said they did everything they could and I was out of luck. I decided months later to see Adam at nerd rangers. He was very thorough in gaining background on the issue. He asked me whether the other repair shop tried to run the actual game? I was not sure so he went ahead and loaded Fortnite and said he would do his best to replicate the issue. Later that day he reached out to let me know that he believes he found the reason the game crashed (as it did for him) and he felt confident that he fixed the issue. When I went to pick up the computer he reassured me that if for some reason the fix didn't work he would continue to work with me to identify the problem. Happy to report that I've run multiple games with zero crashes and everything is running fine. The level of service, detailed questions and customer care was excellent. Thanks Adam!

The system was stuck in a recovery loop, BitLocker was triggered, and Windows wouldn't load or even reliably enter repair mode. Multiple shops I called said it would take several days just to diagnose the issue. Matt turned it around in essentially one day. He was able to manually access the system, unlock BitLocker, repair the corrupted boot configuration, rebuild the necessary Windows files, and get the machine fully operational again -- without wiping my data. That was critical, as I had local files that weren't backed up to the cloud. Beyond the technical expertise, what impressed me most was: * Clear communication * Fast turnaround * Extremely reasonable pricing * No upselling, no unnecessary "reinstall everything" approach He diagnosed the real issue quickly and fixed it correctly the first time. If you're an independent contractor who depends on your machine daily, or you run a small to mid-sized business and need reliable, competent IT support, Matt is exactly who you want on your side. Look no further. Highly, highly recommend.

I dropped my Macbook one time and my hard drive failed. I took it to the Mac store downtown and the Macnician, and they were not able to recover the data. In fact, they referred to companies charging upwards of $700 with no guarantee that my pictures would be recovered. I hated the thought of losing pictures of my 6 month old son. I found Ronnie on Thumbtack and he is incredibly personable. He made it incredibly convenient for me to drop off my drive and pick it up from him. He also charged a very reasonable amount for the data recovery (the best quote I had) and was able to recover all of my son's pictures and other archived pictures that I thought were just gone forever. He did all this very quickly (within a week) and just provided excellent service. He is the epitome of what a small business is all about. I highly highly recommend him for your data recovery needs!

Not only was he able to recover the data from my crashed computer at a VERY reasonable price, but he was also able to recover files from a failed portable hard drive for my sister several years later. His patience and level of explanation during and after the recovery process were very thorough and helpful. I'm grateful for all of his hard work and his willingness to answer any questions, even well after the project was complete. The company offers a variety of technological solutions which are SUPER helpful and range from small, quick fixes to major, recovery and server creation options. I have recommended Inspector Technic to several friends and family members who were satisfied equally or greater with the level of care, delicacy, and professionalism provided. I will most certainly be back whenever I have a computer issue or need technological advice.

(Clearly it couldn't handle all the awesome I was churning out on it.) As a graduation present to myself I bought a Mac and sure enough, a mere week after I bought a new laptop my PC laptop died. Less than two years old and it was toast. (And this is exactly why once you go mac, you never go back.) One of the IT guys at my last job offered to fix it for me, but then I quit that job and felt awkward taking him up on his offer. So, no more PC for me. I was lucky that I had a brand new laptop so my PC dying wasn't the end of the world, but it had everything I did for my master's degree on there, except my capstone/thesis. No, I am not a total idiot and I DO use Dropbox, but all of my research filled it up so if it wasn't capstone related it got kicked out of my dropbox folder. Fast forward a year later, and it sat collecting dust. I kept meaning to try to fix it myself, but that never happened. It was also eating away at me that I lost *everything* I did in grad school, and considering I am actually using my degree it sucked not being able to go back and reference things I did. I kept weighing the cost of having it repaired vs. just letting it go, but one day I finally decided to take it in. I did a quick Yelp search for computer repair, and Techlife popped up first. I read the reviews about him being so amazing and the great prices, and I packed up my laptop and drove over there. I was actually expecting parking to be a nightmare given its proximity to Wrigley, but both times I came here it was super easy and I got rockstar parking right in front. I dropped it off and as promised, Jaime called me a few hours later with the diagnosis - my hard drive was bad. He could install a new one and attempt data recovery on my old one. This all went down on a Friday afternoon, and by Monday morning everything was done and... *drumroll please* By some miracle, he was able to recover EVERYTHING. It's all there, every last paper and important/sentimental photos that I forgot I had that I am SUPER happy he recovered. The best part is the price - it was so good! I got his amazing service, a new hard drive, Windows installed, data recovery, etc. for a price so low I was convinced he forgot to invoice me for something. Even the data recovery was cheap, though he did admit if he would have had to send it off it would have been hundreds of dollars. Jaime, you rock. I'm hoping all of my computers stay in working order so I don't need your services again, but if I do, I will be knocking on your door.

I called Triple Check Techs and an extremely knowledgeable person answered the phone. He asked me a few questions and then told me how I could go about fixing the problem by getting an inexpensive device from a computer store. (One other place had an answering service.) It sounds like the business is run out of the various techs' houses; they prefer to pick up your computer and the fee for doing so ($69) is applied to the service. Tim came by a little later than he'd said (well, it was a Saturday) and was polite and professional. He called Monday with a price; computer was repaired the next day and dropped off where I work. There's a 30-day warranty for most work. Included in the $190 or so price: removing a virus, providing advice on how I got it, a reminder that our internet provider gives customers free antivirus software, a complimentary data backup, and pickup/dropoff. Hope I won't be back soon, but I'll call these folks again if I have troubles. Checks and credit cards OK.

Server stuck a copy of the notice in the door on second attempt because he "saw rubbish" outside and assumed they had moved. With that inexperienced and stupid attempt he basically told the occupants what he was doing. (I was told by the office that he had 10 years with the company) Three attempts means three attempts, lousy or not. The same night my client heard from a third party in communication with the occupants that they had found the notice (not legal service). I emailed the company THAT NIGHT and told them what had happened. The server had gone out the third time the next morning prior to the company contacting him. The entire time of the contract, it took the office HOURS to contact the server (they told ME this) They gave me one more service attempt because they had admitted they screwed up. The server saw lights on and heard voices inside but (surprise) they wouldn't open the door. For the last three days of the service period, I emailed the company for status without response approximately 10 times. When I called, they told me that they received the emails, and were waiting for their server to respond. I've been practicing law 30 years and have used many companies for service of process. This company had no plan on how you serve an individual, made fatal errors, and had poor communication both internally and with the client. I wouldn't use MSI to serve a notice to a child's teacher that they were sick that day, let alone anything important. Without any doubt among the worst in the Chicago area. Stay away and don't waste your money. ----- Regarding the owner's response below, it is utter nonsense. I sent these guys to serve notice on a vacant house for $270? The owner is lying. I told them three people lived there. They were sent there to serve notice, not to make a judgment call on occupancy? Oh, and do people ever leave a house? Their server left a notice in the door, effectively rendering any future attempts futile. The woman in their office admitted it, that's why they gave me an extra attempt. It wasn't a "courtesy" attemp. They screwed up. You have a weekend job and you don't communicate with the client? That's poor business practice. As far a suggestions. YOU MADE NONE except a stakeout which given your track record would be a waste of time and money.. I emailed 6 times Monday morning for status, and called when you didn't answer. Hey man. I know it's painful to get a bad review. But you should suck it up and try to get better instead of lying on Yelp. You have a poorly run business.
