From the outside, this place looks a bit like an older motel, but don't let that fool you--I was pleasantly surprised once I got inside. The rooms have clearly been updated while still keeping some of the original décor, which gives it a bit of charm. I had a partial ocean view from my balcony and it was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the breeze. The kitchen is small but worked great for my needs. There's no oven, but it does have a two-burner stove, microwave, sink for dishes, and about a 3/4-size fridge. It was stocked with all the dishes and utensils you'd need to cook a simple meal. We have tried to stay here several times but they're usually booked. We stayed in a suite with a king-size bed, kitchen and living room. Nice tub and sink/mirror area outside the bathroom. Our room was on the third floor so no balcony or patio like rooms on the first and second floors (there were sliding doors to get fresh air) with a great view of the ocean and sunrises. They provide beach chair and towels. They have a nice pool with plenty of lounge chairs and tables, but no hot tub. They also have a party room with a kitchen, tables, chairs, couches, bathrooms, games and books. There is an ice machine and a bbq grill area too. Our room had two TVs and free wifi. No "do not disturb" sign, so the maids woke me up almost every morning. They left clean towels and tp/Kleenex but never made the bed or did the dishes. They cleaned the bathroom though. There are good restaurants and shops nearby. Lots of shells on the beach. Plenty of large parking spots. Friendly employees. read more

Upon arrival we were quickly turned off by the dinghy mildewness of the room along with the very red roof in-ish vibe that this place gave off. From the 1990's bedding to the furniture it was very much a let down. I sat at the end of the bed pondering a walk to the office to try to leave and get a refund for a solid 30 minutes. I mean our family had saved for this vacation for an entire year and when we got there it was a complete dissapointtment. I went down to the office fingers crossed that something would come of it and as I proceeded to tell the gentleman that "this just doesn't feel like a vacation" and that the rooms were claustrophobic and mildy smelling. He says boldly to me..."well, you are welcome to go find somewhere else, but I am not going to give you your money back". Thing is that I own a business myself...so I understand the consequences of giving someone their money back when they are not happy. It means that I am at a loss but I also know that my loss is not always a gain. And in this particular situation it meant that a family's hard earned savings for this trip would be to their detriment. This owner proceeded to tell me that this was the first time that he has had a report like this....VERY UNLIKELY....as we are living in 2024 and not 1990's. (Posting this review for an older family member who isn't computer savy.) The people were nice, and the view of the beach was great. This is where the positives stop. I would not call our room a suite. (Our room at Best Western on the way home was a lot bigger and updated.) Our room was not upgraded. If you moved too quickly in the bathroom, you could fall in the tub or toilet. The only place to plug in your phone and laptop was next to the sink, which was out in the bedroom. We could not find an outlet, because they were all behind furniture. Because of Covid, we used wipes to clean off everything we could in the room. The wipes were dirty after that. Most of the items in the kitchen were dirty. When we opened one drawer, the smell almost knocked us over. The sink was next to the electric burners, which is a fire hazard. There was a rusted shelf in the freezer. Any food you put in the refrigerator got all sweaty, and the refrigerator ran a lot. None of the furniture in our room was comfortable to sit on. In fact, the outdoor patio was more comfortable. The mattress was very worn out and did not fit the box spring. We had two couples stop by and everyone agreed, there was no way our accommodations deserved a 9 online rating (on booking.com). We highly doubt all of the positive reviews are genuine, and we were very disappointed with our "suite". Someone should have informed us the room was not redone. With her help and other friendly staff they got us a room witH full Ocean vieW. Room 115 was perfect. My wife was excited with the side view but the full view was what I wantEd for her. Everything went well for our Memorial Day weekend. Had only one issue with a DVD remote and was assisted in the room by the staff for the remedy. Wasn't expecting managment to go to that degree to fix the problem! Sweet. Parking is the one bummer if you need two spaces. Only one space per room but really the alternate spaces are less walk that any gargantuan resort area options! Pick your poison: a. The 2nd floor has balconies with two chairs and a small table. (This is our preferred.) b. The ground floor may be easier access somewhat, but now you have peepers walking pass your living room!? c. Third floor only has sliding doors that open in the living room so your AC suffers. Poolside Ice machine is available. The two accesses to the beach are about a 10' drop of wooden stairs (that are in new condition) so prepare to tote yo' game to the sandy side of the property. The beach during our Memorial Day stay was not crowded at all. I don't think there is a strong local presence in this area of the beach. The refirg worked great, coffee pot with filters was nice and we didn't use the bagel toaster or either of the grills on the property. read more

We were there for our 43rd year anniversary. The first thing I noticed was how clean the pool was. I really liked the layout of the whole place. Everything was very clean and it looked like a nice place to stay. When we went in, the person in charge was very nice and very informative. Even though we were on the third floor and you had to walk up the stairs, it was worth it. Our place was well equipped with a big refrigerator, stove and even two tvs. The view was great and we would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the crowds and just relax. My main reason for going to the event is so I can enjoy some nice quality time here on the beach and enjoy the view from my room with the big panel doors open. Very interesting hotel. If you're looking for a non-standard experience with a locally-run hotel, you're going to love Tuckaway Shores. BE AWARE: -Since this is a smaller hotel, the lobby isn't open 24/7. I think they close at 9PM and open at 8AM. If you're departing or arriving outside of those hours, you need to call and make special arrangements. Pros: -Literally one-minute walk to the beach. Less than that if you feel like walking fast. We're talking "Look out your window and the beach is literally under your feet". -Gorgeous views. Very gorgeous. Hotel faces the ocean, though, so if you want sun photos, you'll need to shoot for sunrise. -Third floor room has a ton of gorgeous light and you can hear the ocean - even with all of the windows and doors shut. It has a full, pull-out balcony area that basically runs the entire length of the hotel wall. It makes it feel like you're basically "on" the beach. -Hotel really seems to care and is knowledgeable about local attractions. There are brochures in the lobby, and there's a binder of local attractions and numbers in it in your room. -Staff was super friendly. I asked some silly questions, and they were always happy to answer and didn't give me a hard time. They easily extended our stay an extra night as well. -Free internet works great. No problems. -Regularly do bug and pest control sprays. We had one come in (they do it twice-monthly) while we were here. No residual spray or scent. Glad to see they take things seriously. -Interior was super clean. Housekeeping did a great job. Never once was concerned about cleanliness. Everything was clean, and we were given quite a few new towels and items every day during our stay. -Private areas for the beach. You have a private beach entrance, a sand shower, free-to-use beach items including chairs and beach toys. The beach is surprisingly empty and intimate too. -Prices seem comparable to other hotels in the area along the coastline. -They also have a private, heated pool. The pool wasn't heated quite enough to compete with Florida winds and November temperatures, though. Pool was clean and seemed to have regular maintenance, though. -Parking is right at the hotel. I don't think they were at full occupancy, but we had no issue parking. Cons: -Bathroom is definitely small. There's only about room for a single person to stand, and you need to shut the door and walk around the door before you use the toilet. This is probably the worst thing about the entire room. -I'm not so fond of the interior design. It's very, very beach-like. I think I'd mind it a bit less if the bedding was beach-y too. I think I'm partial to white and crisp hotel bedding. -The air conditioning unit in the bedroom is noticeably loud. Not like "worst thing ever", but my partner is a bit of a light sleeper, and it bothered him. Didn't bother me, though. Luckily, the noise is unhearable in the living room area, so if need be, we could have used the fold-out sofa for sleeping. -Door uses actual standard keys. Not a huge-huge deal, but I really suck at keys. -It's not quite as "central located" as I'd like. It's about a five minute drive from most things. (Not a huge deal, but it's noticeable). However, there's a cafe that's just a mile walk along the beach, so it's a nice excuse to walk to dinner. Just expect to need to drive to get most other restaurants. However, the room does have a small kitchenette, so you technically don't need to eat out if you don't want to. read more

I absolutely can NOT wait to return. Seriously, if I could tomorrow I would! First, let's just talk about the staff. Everyone that we encountered at Tuckaway was beyond wonderful. They were polite, completely on top of things and just happy to be there. It was so refreshing. Second, the rooms. I will post pictures of our room. We were on the third floor. There is a giant sliding glass door that opens up. You can sit in your LIVING ROOM and it feels like you are right on the beach. I never closed my doors. It was so relaxing to hear the ocean right outside. There is also a kitchen complete with breakfast nook, full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, and all of the pots and pans, plates and cups, forks and knives you need. The bed was comfortable. There was plenty of storage space to keep all of our things out of the way. Our room was immaculate. And kept immaculate. We never had to ask for a thing. I honestly felt SO relaxed and refreshed after my trip here! There were 2 TVs but ours never got turned on. There is also a heated pool if you prefer that over the beach. Tuckaway also provides beach chairs as well as some toys for the kids to play with so you don't have to worry about buying/packing your own. Third, the beach is so nice. Not only is it gorgeous, but it's NICE. The sand is soft - not rocky. There isn't trash everywhere. And in fact, it's pretty secluded. This trip has made me fall in love with the Space Coast. Tuckaway is a modest, clean, and cozy old-school-style motel. Property is situated on the beach, no cars allowed on beach, not crowded, and very peaceful. Tuckaway Shores is a great place to stay, either for your own "staycation" or when you have friends and family coming to visit. The rooms and entire facility are very clean and well maintained. In fact, they've won some sort of cleanliness award for the past 4yrs straight! The staff is very accommodating and friendly. This is NOT a roach motel, nor is it a party place. It is very family oriented and low-key. I recently rented a 3rd floor room for my son on his vacation, and they had 5 adults and 1 child in their group total. All other establishments wanted them to purchase 2 rooms, which would have basically doubled their costs during their vacation. Tuckaway Shores provided free air mattresses (2 total) for the other people to sleep on. We couldn't have asked for more. His room had the "Euro folding glass door system" and it was easy to operate and super cool to have your entire wall basically fold out of the way and turn into the balcony. The railing was sturdy, and I had no fears about my 4yo grandson plummeting to his death, or of ospreys swooping in to take him away. The kitchenette was fully stocked, with service for 4, and had a small fridge and microwave oven, perfect for stocking with and preparing their own food to help save money for when they went to visit The Mouse. The bathroom was split, with tub and toilet in one room and the sink and mirror in another. This made it easy for someone to shower while another in the party got ready. The location is great as well, a few miles out of the way (16mi from Cocoa Beach), but close enough to still enjoy easy access to I-95 to visit all the other attractions, and Downtown Melbourne... It also put them closer to Sebastian Inlet Park where they also spent a day being one with nature. All-in-all, for what they offer (price, cleanliness, amenities, facilities, location) they can't be beat. read more

After that I did not want to go to front desk again for anything even though we found that there were only 3 forks supplied in the fully stocked kitchen we made due with the extra butter knives. I slept with these doors open last night and it was the most pleasant experience to wake up to, as well as hear the ocean while I slept! I searched for 3 hours on the internet for a place that would be on the beach, quiet, resonably priced, nice accomodations, and available for the next night. I found everything we were looking for and more at Tuckaway Shores!! The facilities, pool, game room, and rooms are clean, comfortable, nicley appointed, and remodeled. The beach is awesome and each room comes with 2 beach chairs! There are beach toys, surf boards, boogie boards, and umbrellas available for use at your leisure. We had room 202, side room with a half view of the ocean from the balcony. My husband and I were able to relax fully whether hanging out at the beach or the pool. This is a wonderful place, we will come back. All staff was very friendly, washer and dryer on site and they provide the detergent. Tip-go in the summer, there are not a lot of people around, and its not too hot, especially since you are right on the beach. The only cons-my husband thought the air conditioning unit was a bit loud, and there 3 stories and no elevators. read more

I have to admit out of all the hotels and resorts i've stayed in over the years this one is at the top of my list. It is a small resort run by a lovely woman names Jacqui. She keeps this place top notch with her staff. Plus Bryan the front desk clerk is Awesome. He keeps it all running smoothly. So first off the property is in the perfect location right on the beach. you are literally just a few steps away. If you're not a beach person then check out the pool. either way way they offer you free items from beach towels to toys to enjoy your time. Plus you have the option to use the rec room that is perfect for enjoying a book or music. there is an awesome set of grills on property to use as well. Now for the room simply cozy. We had a comfortable bed with a sofa that pulled out for son. The bathroom was well stocked with amenities like body wash and shampoo. i was in love with the living room/kitchen area. I likes being able to make a pot of coffee to enjoy on the balcony while watching the sun rise. i also like being able to stock the fridge for my teenager to eat. I must say this resort is clean, cozy and perfect if you want to escape reality for some time away from all the noise. I highly recommend it to everyone. read more

I just returned from a stay at Tuckaway Shores in Indialantic, Florida, and I had a great time! I would definitely stay here again, and I am sure that my mother-in-law will return. Tuckaway Shores is a small mom-and-pop style hotel in Indialantic, about 30 minutes south of Cocoa Beach and directly east of Melbourne, Florida. It is an L-shaped building so many of the rooms directly overlook the beach, though not all. Only the rooms on the first and second floors have balconies. We stayed on the second floor in an oceanview room with a balcony. It was great. The room was a suite with a full-size bed (the receipt said queen size, but it was definitely not) and a full-size sofabed. The kitchenette had a full-size fridge, microwave, and a couple of burners, and was outfitted with dishes, pans, coffeepot, and toaster. Very nice! The room was very clean and quiet. Free wi-fi internet. Flat screen television with cable channels. And then the beach! The beach in the area is quiet and residential. We were there midweek in June and there were never more than a few people within shouting distance on the beach, maybe a few people walking along the shore, and that's about it. The hotel provides towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and some beach toys on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is also a pool on the west side of the hotel with many lounge chairs. Children are welcome, but noise was not a problem. A few downsides: there is no elevator on the property, so getting bags to the rooms can be a hassle. It's a bit of a walk to any kind of restaurant, shop, or convenience store, but if you have a car, the drive is short in any direction to all kinds of shopping, dining, and entertainment. They do not allow pets, but some of the beachgoers bring pets to the beach. I really enjoyed my stay, and recommend this hotel to others who are looking for a quiet, relaxing time on the beach. read more

Well this is our 4th year here and I am very disappointed. We checked in yesterday for a 3 day stay and the night help Janelle has made the trip absolutely unpleasant. She is extremely rude and unhelpful. I mean seriously if I want an extra pillow I should be able to get one without questions, attitude and especially not rolling of the eyes. Extremely unprofessional and just rude. It's sad that Janelle is the face the you are greeted by. No customer service what so ever. Besides the horrible service from her, the rates have gone up to $177 plus with tax a night. At this price you would think they could get pest control. Last night we found a live bug in the bed and this morning we were greeted by extra guest in the room small ROACHES. Needless to say this will be our last year here. My family comes down from up north and we meet here over the Easter holidays every year. So much better than the big hotels on Melbourne, Indiatlantic, Satellite Beach beaches. They are impersonal and there's way too many people you must be in contact with just to get from your room down to the beach. Here at Tuckaway you can actually get down on the beach in 1 minute and have some alone time with the sunrise, waves, wind and sand pipers. The owners go out of their way to suggest great places to eat and visit that are off the beaten path.
