Unfortunately the Mammoth Burger I got today had little hard black pieces that appeared to be little bits of plastic. They were not blackened food and could not be crushed. I tried to call the business to let them know but their mail box was full. And I live too far to go back to tell them about it. We went here to see what they were all about. My sister and I have been saying for the longest we'd drop in. I'm glad we did! We purchased a meat package with 1 lb of each: pork chop (substituted sausage), sausage, bacon, and a dozen eggs for $17.99. What a deal!! The lady at the counter informed us the sausage is made in-house, so we were delighted to try it. My sister came by today and cooked up all our goodies, and I must say the food is EXCELLENT! The bacon isn't salty, sausage is flavorful, and the eggs taste fresh. Moreover, they have a restaurant that serves burgers. I believe they grind the meat in house. There were quite a few customers ordering burgers. The next time I come we will order food + order our meat. They also have a ton of meat packages ranging in prices. Love having a local butcher and burger place. They have wings and various other prepared food too, but have only tried the burgers and was not disappointed. We have gotten steaks, various types of ground cow, some cuts of chicken I can't remember, and pork chops I think. Always better than the supermarket chains. They also do holiday special menus. Saw the Mammother Burger featured on the morning news and figured why not give it a try! This this was absolutely amazing! While it was full of flavor, none of the flavors were lost by putting lettuce, tomato, and ect. The brisket was by far THE BEST i've tasted in Atlanta. This says alot since my favorite frame of reference is mainly Texas briskets. The "burger" wasn't over or under-cooked. The bread was perfect. Went on a busy day right before Christmas. I had called a week prior to see if I needed to call ahead to reserve about 2-2.5 lbs of prime rib. He told me it wasn't necessary for such a small amount. So when I go in, I am told they can't cut such a small amount of meat, which was odd because they had a 1.5 lb piece of prime rib already cut if if wanted that one (unfortunately, I needed slightly more than that). So I wait. I also ordered a patty melt for lunch, med rare. While I wait for both my prime rib cut and my grill order, the woman cutting the meat and the man behind the counter taking orders are in a constant (loud) verbal battle with each other, arguing over inane stuff regarding the orders and everyone in the place is looking at each other, uncomfortably. The woman cutting the meat is yelling out derogatory remarks to the counter guy and he's trying to smooth everything over by acting sweet and friendly. It's obvious the butcher (woman cutting the meat) is competent, but cantankerous and snide, and the counter guy is cordial and polite, but incompetent. Finally, I get my meat (at 4.1 lbs, twice more than I requested), but at that point, I just wanted to get out of there. I was already waiting 30 minutes. Then I get my patty melt and pay for both it and the prime rib. I get in the car to see if them patty melt is med rare, and well...of course not! It's med-med well. I eat it anyway, as I paid $10 for it. Taste is good, just overcooked. Needless to say, I will never go back there again. I should never have strayed from my favorite butcher in Lilburn. read more

When I think of a "home-town" environment this is what I picture. The outside of the building is bright green and to the unsuspecting passer-by, just a butcher shop. While you can buy meat and cheese to cook at home they are also cooking their products for immediate consumption. The inside features 3 mismatched tables and chairs, like a family picnic, for those who wish to dine in. There is one small tv as well, probably more for staff to watch in down time, but I'm just guessing. The menu features BIG burgers, chicken sandwiches, chicken wings, grilled cheese, and, when they have it, brisket - it is a must! For those with a large appetite, the Mammoth burger is the way to go; it's topped with brisket, cheese and jalapeños. They also have bacon burgers that are a mixture of ground beef and ground bacon in one patty. I have eaten the grilled chicken sandwich with chips. It came on Texas toast with 3 grilled tenders and lettuce and tomato. The chicken was so juicy and tender, cooked long enough to get that grill taste without feeling like it is burnt. What you need to know: This place make look run down from the outside, but I assure you it's hiding a gem inside. Aside from premium meats at decent prices, they have a restaurant side as well - but don't expect it to come cheap since they use their own quality meat. Service isn't going to be the best here, but they're friendly enough and stick to what they do best - provide the best meats and cook them well. Was looking for something more localized than the standard chain burger joints like Five Guys, so decided to check this out when I came across it on Yelp. An unassuming exterior makes this a genuine "hole in the wall" spot near the up and coming downtown of Tucker. Food: I ordered the lamb burger and some lemon pepper wings. The lamb burger was great! Probably about twice the size of a regular hamburger at Five Guys with a MASSIVE meat patty. I do wish the patty was seasoned a bit better to really compliment and bring out more of the flavors of the lamb, but it was cooked to perfection at a perfect medium, and was super juicy - just how I like my burgers. The wings were actually a gamble since I know they're more known for their burgers, but they were fantastic! Equally crispy and tender as well as a nice sized wing compared to what you get at chain spots. While the lemon pepper seasoning was great, I did see that most of the seasoning ended up on the bottom of box instead of being stuck to the wings (it seemingly slipped off). Their fries were ok, nothing too special about them, and were a bit too over fried for me. At $3 for a small side of fries, I expected better. Price: For the meats it's fairly standard for an independent butcher, but I do feel their restaurant prices are maybe a dollar or two too much for me - especially since they don't include a side with your meal (which you might expect at $9 a pop). And I did wish they used other higher quality ingredients (i.e. buns, etc.) like they do their meat since the buns seemed cheap, however, for the high quality meat and sheer massive portion size they use, the price isn't completely ridiculous. Ambience: It's primarily a butcher shop, so don't expect much aside from standard tables and chairs. But with all the fresh meat displayed for you, it made a perfect scenery to chow down on some quality meat. Service: This wasn't the best, but I didn't expect much to begin with. Everyone just seemed tired even though it was the middle of the day. However, there wasn't anything wrong, I got my order taken and received it in a normal time frame that it would take for a cook-to-order restaurant, but nothing above and beyond. Parking: This is ample. You won't have any issues. All in all, while their cooked food is a little bit more expensive than I'd normally like to pay, the quality more than makes up for it. I'll definitely come here in the future to try the vast array of fresh meats they carry in the future and probably some other food (like the ever popular smoked brisket) when I want to splurge a bit on myself. read more

It was advertised on the news as an excellent place to buy fresh meats. So we drove out from Hampton, Ga. To try it out. It was a waste of time. It was a hole in the wall. Wasn't clean in our opinion. It wasn't worth the time or the drive. All of the meat was quite overpriced even for fresh meats. The wifey was hankering for some burgers this week, and we were thinking if there were any joints in town that were not chains. After some searching, I found TMM and from the reviews, it has what we were looking for: local burgers with good reviews, and for wifey's pleasant surprise, they also offer a cornucopia of chicken wing sauces! Taking advantage of Tucker restaurant week, I decided lunchtime is a good time to try their burgers. The location had ample parking during early lunch, and the meat displays showed a variety of meats and cuts. I ordered the TRW special, a mini Mammoth burger with fries, and a bacon burger. It took me less than 10 minutes to get home, so we had the food without needing to reheat. Here's my impression: the mammoth burger had too much protein. The beef patty with its embedded bacon was very good, but the brisket (not the Texas style) was leathery, rubbery, chewy, and it clashed with the velvety texture of the patty. Along with all the toppings in it, I think it's too much flavor, too blunt and not nuanced. I tasted a lot of bbq sauce, chewed through the brisket, and it didn't go down very nicely. I think the burger would be best served without the brisket, or replace it with the TX style moist (fattier) version. The fries, freshly fried while I was there, was excellent! The bacon burger's flavor and texture was better. Just the patty with veggies and a giant bun. Overall, their burger patties were excellent, along with the fries, but the toppings' quality and/or combination can be improved. We will definitively be getting our burgers and wings from here since we like to support small, locally owned businesses, even if their prices are higher than the chains. read more
