Delicious! Great cuts of humanely raised animals. Staff is really nice and super knowledgeable. It's a small place where you park on the street more often than not, but when you deliver the goods like this I'm ok with the parking. If you're looking to cook some steaks, pork chops, burgers, etc this is your spot. Don't sleep on their delicious cured meats and the all beef bacon grind and make sale some smash burgers! This is a heartburn-free strip of bacon right here!!!! My hubby was so impressed with the actual flavor of meat without the extra "stuff" in pre-packaged meat... we have a happy hubby!!! One of the best features of living in Avondale Estates is having the Pine Street Market nearby. It's like having your own personal, well stocked larder. Everything is amazing. We've tried everything from skirt steak to filet mignon to bacon, summer sausage, smoked salmon, and foie gras. Every time we get anything from there, it's always top of class. On Sundays, they regularly have fresh samples in there, right out of the Big Green Egg. The people that work there are super friendly and knowledgeable. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

I was in the mood for a great steak to cook on the grill. I have followed Pine Street on Instagram, so I decided to check them out. I got a boneless ribeye, at a shocking price of $33 a pound !!! Grand total was almost $40. Yikes !!! I got my grill up to about 500 degrees, seared both sides, then turned a burner off and baked to about 140 degrees, then covered it to rest. The steak was absolutely delicious !!! The flavors ... !!! And I feel confident to say one of the best steaks I have ever had !!! There is no comparison to chain grocery store steaks. I tried the smoked bacon samples ( actually I had two samples) while waiting ... awesome !!! I don't have beef much, but when I do, it will be from Pine Street. Great little Meat market. We purchased the Special Harvest sausage that was highlighted during the Avondale Wine Walk. Very juicy and flavorful. Prices are a little high but it's all made on site with care. Stop by and see what catches your attention. We also tried the Chipotle sausage, pimento cheese both were great as well. I have never had a personal butcher, but this was as close I a got to my own butcher. Rusty and the team were wonderful. I learned a lot and being able to take home some fresh meat was a highlight of the visit. Sausage, chicken, pork and more. You have your choice of the good stuff. All of the good stuff too. Everything is better with bacon...unless the bacon is no good. But almost any bacon is usually fine with me. Not anymore. PSM is an excellent source for the best Applewood Smoked Bacon to ever cross your lips. Is it succulent and almost sweet due to its lack of saltiness. I like salt just as much as the next gal, but seriously most bacon causes you to retain water and you can only eat so much. The bacon here is perfection. I'm ashamed to say I ate 5 piece with my brunch on Sunday and I NEVER do that. I also tried out the Spicy Paprika Salami. Considering my love of all things salami, I have a pretty tough palate to please. This salami is spicy with an explosion of flavor between the paprika and the pop of garlic to the wonderful finish of Pinot Grigio. De-lish! I highly recommend you take the time to go by PSM and grab some bacon and an assortment of salamis (and sausages and cheeses). I cannot wait to go back and get more goodies. Next on my list - pancetta and a couple more salamis! This is definitely worth the trip. read more

We came over here after finding them on yelp. obviously we had to try the bacon and yeah it was amazing. Its important to note that they only deal in pork but the prices are extremely reasonable. we got salami , hot dogs and everything was awesome. They work with a local farm and they also have cooking classes coming up soon, definitely buy locally and support these guys, I know I will be much to the dismay of my vegetarian wife. read more

I had the wonderful experience of visiting a friend's family in Puerto Rico a while back. They have the most decadent cut of pork I have ever witnessed even though my family has been in the BBQ business since 1936. It's called Kan Kan. It has the pork chop, rib, bacon , and rind/skin on one piece. You fry it in lard! It is the ultimate pork experience!!! Two of the brothers work here on my crew and said they couldn't find the cut. When I approached this building you wouldn't know this was a meat purveyor. That is, until you get about 5 feet from the front door. The smell of the hickory and apple wood permeate everything. If they made a candle that would infuse my home like this, it would sell out quickly. I entered the doorway and immediately sat my eyes on a huge, freshly smoked pork belly, still on the hook. Rusty Bowers, chef and owner, offered me a slice - it melted like butter. THIS is where some of the best chefs in Atlanta and the surrounding area get their cured meats/salumi/chartcuterie. The list of restaurants that he supplies is long and impressive. He explained in detail each product, allowed me to sample and take it all in without the hard sales pitch. The products sell themselves. This is what it looks like when you live your passion. The pork is local Berkshire and everything is made in traditional methods on site. The Prosciutto will not be ready until next spring, and I'm sure it will be a hit. I tried the Capicola and several salami selections before ordering the handmade hot dogs, country sausage, Mexican chorizo, Italian sausage, bratwurst, Capicola and apple wood smoked bacon. Oh my gosh - what a fantastic place! You can order a pork loin roast if you're going to make an old-fashioned Pork and Apple pie and they'll have it ready for you. Or you can bop in after work and get a pork chop that once cooked, is tender enough to eat with a spoon. I'm not kidding. I don't mind eating meat, and when it is locally sourced and humanely treated it truly is that much better. The meat is frigging delicious, and I've not been surprised when I've come in to get bacon and found them sold out. Their sausages are seasonal and I learned how to make bangers and mash because they had bangers once. Oh, and they have a sausage made with pears - absolutely delightful. Dried as well as ready to cook, their sausages have a uniqueness and a taste to them that you can't find in a grocery store. One other thing that intrigues me is that they offer classes in meat cuts - you can learn how to be a butcher and what cuts are what, how to cut meat, and even how to make your own sausage. This review, unfortunately, can't actually feed you Pine Street's bacon. And friends, you MUST eat this bacon. We get our Pine Street bacon at the Peachtree Road Farmer's market, so I haven't been to their Avondale facility, which I can only imagine is heaven on earth. My review is only for the bacon, well technically actually a bunch of other meats I've tried from Pine Street, but really ... the bacon. For 23 years, I thought I knew what bacon was. It ubiquitous on new American restaurants' menus, at fast food joints, and of course we've had it for breakfast a thousand times. Turns out, until I tried Pine Street Market's bacon, *I had never eaten bacon before*. This bacon tastes like pork. It actually does -- think about that next time you eat "bacon". This bacon is thicker, juicier, porkier, smoked-ier, longer, wider, prettier, fresher ... but really, I'm speechless. Pine Street's bacon will destroy all other bacon in your perception, until you cannot eat "bacon" ever again. Pine Street deserves to be an absolute hit on Yelp. This is a real find. Just discovered this gem close to Decatur in Avondale Estates. My first date was with their hot dog sampled at Duck's Kitchen. It was the best hot dog I had ever tasted. I found my way to their small storefront and purchased the dogs and bacon burger. The dogs were superb as expected. Great juicy crunch and balanced garlic seasoning. Not over salted . . . Perfect. The bacon burger mix I tried as fried patties with eggs but the real revelation was the green chili I made. The bacon burger consists of finely ground pork and applewood smoked bacon. Wonderful smoky flavours added depth to the chili along with some chipotle peppers. Best chili I ever made thanks to Pine Street Market. The salami I've tried we're all a tad too salty for my taste but look forward to sampling all their wonderful creations. read more

This place has nice meats but honestly I wasn't over impressed. Went over to get some applewood bacon only to find out that it was pre-sliced. I can get pre-sliced applewood bacon at the grocery store. What if I wanted extremely thin or extra thick slices...A real deal killer for me. The whole point of going to the butcher is to be able to get things fresh and cut the way you like it. Also, compared to another major player in the butcher shop game, their prices are MUCH higher. What a neat find - this is going down as my most recent discovery! We went by here on Saturday (they're open from 11 - 5, but not open Sun - Tuesday). If not for word-of-mouth and an address, you'd never know to check this place out. The woman working here was very friendly and let us try everything - all the salamis & all the cheeses. We were going somewhere else afterwards, so couldn't bring the cheeses with us. They carry Sweet Grass Dairy cheeses - I really liked the gouda and aged goat cheese they had there. Apparently their bacon is very popular and we were also tempted to pick up some bratwurst. We ended up picking 3 kinds of salami: fennel, paprika and picnic. Some of the salamis are infused with different types of red wine (e.g, pinot noir) and each has a unique taste. We will definitely be going back! read more

Dear God, is there bacon in heaven? Well for the sake of all the saints up there, let's hope so. In fact, I pray that this heavenly bacon comes from Pine Street Market. And let's throw in some Valencia and Saucisson Sec salami while we're at it for the full "hallelu" effect. This little place delivers big time. If there are any unbelievers out there, prick their hearts so that they may stop by and taste a few samples. Everything there is just divine from the salamis, to the sausage and of course, the bacon. I honestly don't think I've ever had better bacon. The flavor is just pure, fresh bacon. It's just good old fashion cured pig. I can't believe its taken me so long to get here. We wandered in on a Sunday post-brunch at Palookaville (yes, I eat corn dogs for brunch!). Although some sirloin steaks in the case looked stunning, since we had eaten steak the night before, we selected heritage bone-in pork chops brined in apple cider and some italian sausage. We also picked up some of their salami. The salami made for excellent charcuterie. We sliced it thin and put it out with some cheese for a casual get-together. It was gone in less than 10 minutes! Yum! But those pork chops... I'm admittedly not the biggest fan of pork chops from eating them frequently as a child. However, these were something special. Hubby grilled them on the Big Green Egg and we paired them with a baked sweet potato and sauteed spinach. The pork was tender and exceptionally flavorful; in all honesty, its one of the best meals that we've ever made at home. I will definitely get these again! I haven't used the italian sausage yet, but I'm sure when I do, it will be terrific. I really loved that the folks at Pine Street Market can tell you EXACTLY where their meat came from. I'm ecstatic to support this small business and am now considering signing up for their meat CSA! Yay! read more

When I heard about this place, I expected a place with pig legs hanging from the ceiling and a guy with a bloody apron and indeterminate European accent greeting me with a grunt and a wave of a cleaver. What I found was an upscale jernt selling high-end salumi. The lady behind the counter was devoid of accent but rife with grace and generosity; she cut me sizeable samples of some of the salumi in stock. Amazing stuff. I also got a pound of cut bacon, which tasted excellent: smoky in the best way, with the taste of the wood not crowding out the excellent flavor of the pig. So why only four stars? Nitrites. They're in the bacon. Yes, some studies say that the levels approved by the government are harmless, but I question the need for an establishment that works at this high level of quality to think it necessary to use this additive. Simply put, they got their bacon and salumi game on lock here. It's a small shop that pretty much only does cured meats/salumi/charcuterie (well, they sell some cheeses too). Anyway, me and a lover hit this spot up to stock up on some meaty goodness. Kyle was really cool and let us sample a number of different meats. The salami were great, in particular the fennel one (even though I'm not a huge fennel/anise fan). I'll definitely be back to get some of that. I ended up with a pound of applewood-smoked bacon and a pack of spicy Italian sausages. The sausages were good, but the bacon...DIZZAMN. Thick, meaty, very smokey - it was fantastic. I think this is possibly the best bacon I've ever had and definitely one of the best food purchases I've made recently. The only drawback would have to be that it is a little pricey, but I feel like you get what you pay for. Pretty sure this'll get knocked up after a few more visits. Bacon = YUM Bacon BURGER = how is it not a household staple? The pancetta, salami, chorizo... egads, so good. All your pig-meat needs in one stop, plus other edibles to accompany the meat. The cheese is great and from a local farm. And they've got pickled veggies, also from a local provider. If you have a chance, chat with Rusty. I have lived in this area for 3 years now, and only discovered this place about a month ago. I've been missing a lot. As a Triple B man (Beer, Babes, and Bacon), one of the foundations of my world view is good bacon. I'm constantly on the look out for the best bacon. I may have come pretty close to discovering it here. Cooked slow and pulled off the skillet before it became crispy, the first bite provided an overwhelming impression of a meaty porkchop. Then a well-balanced sensation of smoke and sweetness overtook my taste buds. The maple and molasses really comes through. As someone noted in another review, I'm also not a big fan of the use of nitrates. This bacon doesn't really need it. But this flaw is worth overlooking. They also make salami's (or is it salamii?) and always have several varieties for sale. This changes constantly and they will gladly cut off samples until you decided which one (or three) to take home with you. They also stuff sausages on Thursdays for you to pick and choose from. They sell the links fresh until Saturday, and then freeze them in packs of five the rest of the week. Tailgators should keep this in mind. The location is out of the way. The best directions are to find the James Joyce Irish Pub and it is behind the pub on a side street. If you love cured meats, I suggest you make a trip. read more

This place is a bit off the beaten path. I drove past little Pine Street Market twice before I saw the place. But I'm glad I kept circling - these folks make some excellent cured meats - I picked up about 5 different kinds of salamis (all made in house, and all fantastic - though my favorite was the "Avondale"), a slab of some excellent applewood smoked bacon, and a wedge of Thomasville Tomme cheese from Sweetgrass Dairy. In addition to the great salamis, bacon, and cheeses - at Pine Street, you'll also find super-friendly owners, who offer tastes of just about everything before buying. OK, so I'm fairly low on the carnivore meter. But when some friends served up some appetizers at their party, it was transformational. I admit, I don't know a lot about artisan charcuterie beyond the ubiquitous prosciutto (not even sure I know how to spell those right). But they served up some coppa, and some salamis, and I knew I wanted to be educated. They offered up their source: the Pine Street Market. Going there is an experience. It is a very, very, small shop in an old office park in Avondale. But it is like walking into a butcher shop from another century-- in the best way. Cured meats in cases, jars; samples on a side table. I asked about the coppa, and the butcher came out with a very aged slab of it and freshly shaved some right in front of me. Among many items they prepare, they offer quite a variety of small salamis in jars that are surprisingly inexpensive, so I bought several. It was all delicious. I've since learned that their products are served in some of the better restaurants around town. That shows me which chefs are on the leading edge. PSM is a great little secret that shouldn't be. read more

Eh, not as impressed as it seems most people are. Went the other day and picked up some applewood bacon and some Asher Blue cheese as well as grabbed a summer sausage stick for the ride. Did not like the sausage at all and the bacon was mediocre at best. The blue was very mild which is fine for some but I want blue cheese that punches you in the mouth. Pine Street Market is my definite go to charcuterie now. As an anniversary present, I got the husband and I a meat-of-the-month club membership. Best anniversary present EVER!!! Nothing says I Love You more than cured meat. And each shipment comes with a pound of bacon. Pine Street Market's bacon is heavenly by the way. The bacon jam was so good, I even got a vegetarian to try some. Needless to say, I'm a huge fan. Everything we got for the meat of the month was excellent. I had gotten to try some cured meats from Pine Street Market this Spring, and had signed up for their email newsletter. Every few weeks when the email newsletter arrived, I would try to remember to head over and get some more to try out. I would forget. This weekend, my wife and I managed to remember, and we bought several different types of cured meats, and some applewood smoked bacon. All of the cured meats we had were delicious, with the coppa being a particular standout. We had them with some fresh baked baguette we made yesterday and cheeses we picked up elsewhere. Today we had the bacon in some sandwiches, and it lived up to our expectations, was delicious, and will become a staple of our pantry. Beyond the obvious quality of the food, Rusty seems like a really nice guy, and let us sample everything we asked about before we bought. Love, love, LOVE Pine Street Market. We had been going all the way to the Peachtree Farmers Markets on Saturdays to get their products and then one day we realized they have an actuality store!! We went for the first time the Saturday of 4th of July and I think we bought at least half the items they sell. Everything rocked!! As other have stated their bacon is awesome but they also have a lot of other great items. The store is small but very clean and the staff is so nice. They have the nicest people working here. It is always a pleasure to call up or walk in for my orders. Their home-made hot dogs are my absolute favorite! Because they're made on the spot or somewhere nearby, they don't have the crazy chemicals that go into store-bought stuff. Actually, I shouldn't even be drawing a comparison between their hot dogs and the store-bought stuff since we're not even talking about the same thing here... The bacon is incredible and flavorful.
