On Devin's first visit, we walked with Shadow and a robotic dog. He showed us how to handle Shadow better when walking by other dogs. Devin has subsequently come back out as a follow-up with Shadow, incorporating some new goals. Since the two sessions, Shadow has been much better behaved around other dogs on our walks. Our puppy Junie was extremely reactive to other dogs and we felt like she would never get better. We enrolled her in the puppy elementary classes at about 5 months old. Kim and Jamaal were extremely accommodating and helpful throughout all of her behaviors, week after week. After she finished the group classes we did 2 private lessons with Kim and Jamaal and I can't say enough great things about the two of them. Junie is such a different dog from the day we started with Sol Dog and we couldn't be more grateful for Kim and Jamaal. I can't recommend Sol Dog Lodge enough!

That statement is 1/2 right. Looks like the Sol Dog on Prince now has a new name and that owner used to be part of Sol Dog but is not anymore. My dogs were boarded in May 2026 for 4 days. All did not go well. I have spoken to Justin and Shelley from Sol Dog and BOTH of them have now said "that's not how we normally do things". When I spoke to Shelley today and told her that they had to say, "that's not normally how we do things", for 3 separate issues her reply made me want to do reviews so other people could see that the service I got was exactly how they normally do things. Issue 1- on our tour of the facility (beautiful facility) we were led to believe that we would be allowed to settle our dogs in their kennel. We were not. Shelley said, "that people are not allowed in the kennel area". When I told her that we were taken into the kennel area on our tour, she said "that's not normally how we do things". Issue 2- We gave written on paper instruction on how to feed our dogs. and put the instructions in their system. Not complicated. One dog gets dry and wet food. The other gets wet food only. The dog that got wet food only was fed dry food. Sol Dog sent me a text on day 2 that they were almost out of dry food. When I called and questioned how they were feeding my dogs, I was told they were feeding them correctly. It wasn't until I sent them an email that they admitted to feeding my dog incorrectly. Guess what I was told??? You guessed it "that's not how we normally do things". Issue 3- Communication. I was told that someone from Sol Dog would communicate with me and let me know how the dogs were doing a couple times a day. The evening I dropped them off I did hear from someone. The next day Nothing. The 3rd day I sent a text at 730am and did not hear back till 330pm. GUESS WHAT? "THATS NOT HOW WE NORMALLY DO THINGS". Some issues I brought up with Justin that I didn't bring up with Shelley. My dog blankets and toys were not dirty, had no dog hair and smelled like I just took them out of my dryer. I had a lot of treats left over and if they were given to the dogs like I was told they would be, there should not have been that much left. Sol Dog left such a bad taste that I told them I would never board with them again. Justin and Shelley both agree that since they were told I would never board with them again that there was not much they could do to fix the issue. I was not told they were sorry. I was not offered any refund, not that I would have taken it. They did have to pay the staff to feed my dogs wrong and not give them their toys, blankets or treats. All in all, I feel like the experience that I had with Sol Dog is EXACTLY HOW THEY NORMALLY DO THINGS.

We thought we knew dogs, having raised them for years. But when our daughter's job took her to a…read morebig city with a small apartment, we found ourselves struggling after adopting her dog. He's always been a great with us, but he was getting more and more aggressive with our neighbors and other dogs we would meet on walks or when people would come over. He's a rescue and DNA testing revealed pit, boxer and rottweiler in him. After a few close run-ins, we were at a loss on how to handle him and always anxious when we'd take him out. We decided we needed professional help. Met one trainer who came to our house, charged us $200 to basically give us a sales pitch and didn't even bother to meet our dog - we knew he hasn't the guy. Fortunately, we found Karen's number and had a good feeling when we talked over the phone. We had a follow-up in-person intro session and knew soon into that lesson she was the one for us so we signed up for a 10 session plan. And we are so glad we did. It's truly remarkable what she taught our dog and perhaps just as much, us. She always had well-thought out lesson plans that she would adapt to focus on our areas of concern. She took a holistic approach and spent a lot of time discussing tools & strategies with us that were perhaps just as helpful as the specific obedience training she did with the dog. She was always caring and humane, but also pragmatic and focused on results. By the end of the sessions, we were able to take him to the pet store where he was well-behaved around other dogs there. That was something I didn't think would ever be possible with him. Of course, he's still a big, intimidating dog. He's not a golden retriever, we still need to pay attention with him. But now we feel like we have what we need to avoid or de-escalate situations that before would have blown up on us. For "graduation", we did an outdoor hike with some big male dogs he just met. It was wonderful to see him able to enjoy the walk and be around other dogs without his hair constantly standing up or barking ferociously. Karen really knows what she's doing. When I called to makey appointment for this again they referred to my review and said they wanted to know if I would be open to this feedback. I didn't know what they meant at the moment I'm and after some back and forth figured out that because of my comment they don't think I'm open to their feedback. Never said I wasn't open to feedback. What I said was that I didn't feel like a valued customer because my dog doesn't go frequently. And this last conversation confirmed it even more.

Customer service is taken seriously here but that's not what I came here to say. I took my puppy to training with Hallie Vieths and she completely changed my life. The first day of class I almost cried because my dogs behavior was so bad! He was reactive, anxious and could not be around dogs, strangers or new things. When we started Hallie reassured me that he will be able to at least tolerate the things he struggled with. She made it clear she cannot magically fix his issues but she is confident that he will be able to tolerate strangers, noises and other dogs. I took all three classes with Hallie beginning, intermediate and advanced. My doggie has COMPLETELY changed he is able to tolerate a lot of things he couldn't before. I am forever grateful to Hallie and will ALWAYS refer people to her. She gave me and my pup the confidence to grow together and be happy and I can say that I wish I went to her sooner !
