This is THE BEST petsmart in town ALLLL the employees at this location are wonderful. Cashiers, managers, grooming, they're all knowledgeable on the products and services they offer and overall they are all just SO kind ! Customer service is taken seriously here but that's not what I came here to say. I took my puppy to training with Hallie Vieths and she completely changed my life. The first day of class I almost cried because my dogs behavior was so bad! He was reactive, anxious and could not be around dogs, strangers or new things. When we started Hallie reassured me that he will be able to at least tolerate the things he struggled with. She made it clear she cannot magically fix his issues but she is confident that he will be able to tolerate strangers, noises and other dogs. I took all three classes with Hallie beginning, intermediate and advanced. My doggie has COMPLETELY changed he is able to tolerate a lot of things he couldn't before. I am forever grateful to Hallie and will ALWAYS refer people to her. She gave me and my pup the confidence to grow together and be happy and I can say that I wish I went to her sooner ! After visiting Tucson and my old Aussie (14 years old) to get a haircut and bath while here. My old lady is used to going to multiple groomers while we travel with no issues. Everyone has been so patient as she has gotten older. I also cut her hair a couple times a year myself at home. After dropping her off an hour later I get a call that she is not doing well and pooped while getting a bath. I need to come pick her up even though they did not finish the haircut or not even dry her. I don't know what they did to her but she was so stressed out and panting like crazy. I am afraid to think about what happened to her there. I will never take her to another Petsmart. I will take her to local groomers who know how to work with dogs. Horrible experience and they wanted me to pay for stressing my old lady out. read more

NEVER taking my husky back to this place. Brought him into Petsmart in El Con Plaza out of convenience, groomers were not friendly to begin with. I picked up my husky after 3 hours and he seemed very anxious. When we got home I noticed he could not open his left eye at all and his other eye was SO red. He was whining and pawing at his eyes. When I called to ask if this was normal, they said it was probably because the amount of hair there was and possibly got into his eye. I have NEVER experienced this after numerous visits to other grooming facilities. I paid $80 for this and no nail trim was done either, all they offered was eye drops for my poor boy and to pay for a vet visit if it got worse, they are fortunate it didnt get worse. Take your pets to a local groomer instead, even if the wait is longer. read more

Petsmart has been grooming our two Poms or years. After a recent grooming we were told they would no longer groom them because they were unable to stand for long periods. We were told this by a new mail groomer who we never met! Both are blind and around 12 years old. They are both able to stand and walk. This seems like a cop out ! read more

This is the Oracle and Ina location. Long story short, a dog owner was allowed to have his dog on a long leash and roaming around. I asked the owner to please call their dog to him and he refused. I told an employee and nothing was done. Then, 5 minutes later, the guy with the dog is checking out and the dog is growling and jumping up on him and at the counter. After he left, I asked again why the owner couldn't be told to keep his dog next to him when he is in the store. No answer. So my answer is, there are other pet stores than Pet Smart. I won't be going back. Update: AND they left something out of the bag so now I have to go back and get it. And no apology for forgetting to put it in. read more

Five stars for the grooming department and 3.5 for the store. I was pleasantly surprised by the groomers at the El Con location. They did a great job with my Golden mix and the price ($60) was reasonable. Most importantly, my dog wasn't stressed out and enjoyed her visit. The store is well-stocked, but overpriced. The food is more expensive than at other places and the toys cost way more than they do at Petco or online. The discounts offered through membership don't make any real difference. All that said, it's close and convenient and the staff is helpful and friendly. read more

PetsHotel at Petsmart E. Broadway: We have boarded our two dogs at this PetsHotel twice before and felt comfortable leaving them for a few days. However, when we picked them up this morning they smelled like a sewer - and one of them had been recently groomed. It was difficult to ride in the car with them, and they were uncomfortable with their odors. It makes me wonder what the boarding conditions really are like. I recently adopted my dog Jack from the animal shelter and he is a bit anxious and nervous. I took him into the Petsmart grooming at El Con about a month or so ago to get his nails trimmed and the woman did a great job. She was very loving and although he cried while she trimmed his nails, he came out of the appointment wagging his tail. Today I took him back into the same Petsmart to get his nails trimmed again and had a very different experience than the last. The woman working the front desk in the grooming center was rude and seemed very uninterested. She put the leash on my dog and proceeded to drag him through the door. She did not even greet him or try to make him comfortable. I picked him up and handed him to her so she would stop dragging him. I then went outside for a few minutes and when I came back she came out and told me my dog is "too strong and stressed" for her to trim his nails. Mind you he weighs 8 pounds and is a terrier/dachshund mix. I went to get him and she handed me my dog and did not say another word. Very disappointed in her rude behavior and lack of compassion towards my dog. Will NOT be returning. read more

Do not go. The staff smiled in front but made my puppy cry loudly at back. When I saw my puppy, he has tears around his face, not only on his eyes!!! What is your feeling when your own children get hurt by someone intended? I do not think you will pay him and say thank you and give a five star. I really hope the manager can rethink of his own staff for grooming and bath. There are so many bad reviewers. If possible, Change someone really love dog and patience to dogs instead. I so seldomly go to PetSmart. I buy my leashes and collars on Amazon, and I get my dog food and grooming done at Pet Club. This is more of an emergency pit-stop for me, when I can't make it to Pet Club or wait for Amazon. The store is always clean, if I need a groomer I always seek out Damien. It's a smaller store but new and has everything you need but tends to be expensive (thus why I avoid it). read more

We adopted our puppy from an organization that had a set-up at the another PetSmart location. They gave us some coupons for adopting so I decided that returning for supplies and services would be economical. I called and was quoted a price for a bath and groom of around $45 (I have no idea if this is unreasonable or not but I had a coupon so I made an appointment). Some of the staff were excellent at handling our poor rescue pup - she hasn't been away from us since we adopted her (except for work during the day, etc) and she was VERY nervous to be in the store. There was one woman who was EXTREMELY patient at getting our puppy in the door and around other dogs. Others just stood around and watched. Not a big deal. We left her for about three hours and she was happy to see us. But I was shocked by the bill. It turned out to be over $60. I'm not exactly sure why but I've heard that there are groomers that will come to your home for half that price. When I questioned the price with the attendant, I was met with indifference over my concern (especially considering I had been told a different price initially). Also, my biggest sticking point with the whole experience is that we had gone to PetSmart because of that coupon book. It would have saved me $10. I gave it to the cashier when we were checking out and it had expired by TWO DAYS. I didn't realize and there is apparently no compromising with coupon expiration dates - ever. WRITTEN IN STONE. Love that attitude!! We probably won't be returning. I'm sure there are better prices out there with better service. read more

Even though the Grooming Service on Thursdays indicates that they open from "7-9". Don't believe them. It was only 7:30pm and they persistently told me that Grooming Services closes at 7pm. Common, I can read your sign and you just lied to a customer. If you are understaff or simply just don't want to provide me service then say it. Then the woman who works in the Grooming center told me I have to make an appointment for the "PAWdicure." That's a "walk-in service". She needs some education about what is on their service menu and about the dogs they groom. She asked if I wanted to shave or trim my Husky.... Seriously?! It really can take one person to change the whole perspective on the store. I'm going to go back to the PetsMart on Irvington where workers actually know what they are talking about. This petsmart is a relatively new location, right next to the target! It's a bit smaller than most but when we came in to buy a fish there was an abundant selection! I also had multiple employees approach me asking if I needed help (you just don't find good service like that anymore!) the lady who helped me spent a good ten minutes educating me on the care the fish needed. She was so knowledgeable and I appreciated her help a lot. The store was very neat and didn't have as strong of an odor as I normally am overpowered with at most petsmarts. Based on my experience with this Doggie Day Care and its staff I would think twice before letting your dogs be handled by certain employees of this PetSmart Hotel. Below is an incident I had with this PetSmart Day Care if you're interested in reading it. Sadly, I probably will not do business at that location. I do not know if this is how things are done at PetSmart, because I only had one bad experience with one employee. I just hope this does not reflect how they handle our pets when we are not looking Here is my experience: I have a 5-month-old puppy that was handled incorrectly. My dog started out scared of an employee and she didn't pick up on that. Then continues to force this puppy to cooperate. Then proceeded to tell me I would need to correct it, or my puppy could not be allowed to stay there. Respectfully I choose to withdraw my dog from the daycare. She is a puppy who is teething and scared of new interactions with people who frighten her. If my 5-month-old puppy could harm someone with her biting I would never bring her there. My dog is no angel, but she's kind if you are. Respect goes both ways with animals. I do believe there are places and business in Tucson that would be more understanding of puppy like behaviors and not evoke bad ones. That same employee handled her in the past and did not run into this issue. I believe it was just based on how she decided to handle my dog that day. Nothing was written on her report card addressing my puppy misbehaving in her last visit. Which only means that my puppy didn't care for her second interaction that day. Which I tried to convey to this employee, but she was not having it. I doubt all the employee act as unprofessional, but I did not appreciate the additional cold shoulder from an employee simply, because I choose to take my dog home. This employee did not have to agree or like us, but at least should have kept up some professionalism. If your employees are having a bad day, please do not allow them to work with dogs. It requires a lot of patience and understanding to handle dogs. I have 6 animals that require much patience. I hope PetSmart keeps an eye out for these type of incidents from employees. Trivial or not it's bad for business and unfortunate for pets. read more

Horrible experience , my dog has prescription dog food and I was totally out , and this lady manager I pleaded with her she could check my old rewards and just showed I bought this dog food last month because I forgot to bring my prescription . I have been taking my wire haired fox terrier to be groomed here for a couple of years. Preston was our first groomer and we worked together to get Topper's cut exactly right. Since then I have had Damian and Narisa as well. Topper is well taken care of, looks good and the staff is so accommodating (like squeezing me in when I don't have an appointment). This review is regarding grooming services. I brought in my elderly and ragged looking Pomeranian who was long overdue for a groom. I told them to shave her completely with a round face and long tail. They agreed but ended up shaving most of her tail hair off on accident. The girl called me sounding very upset and sorry and I actually felt bad for her. Other than that little thing my dog came out looking AMAZING and she looked very happy and comfortable! I used to steer away from chain groomers but have been very pleased with the results. Also enjoy booking online and they ALWAYS seem to have appointments same or next day. The groomer ended up giving us a bunch of extra treatments for free to make up for the short tail.. I thought that was very nice of her. Would recommend! read more

Brought my two dogs in for grooming at the El Con location. I usually use the Petsmart on Oracle and Wetmore for my grooming and boarding needs. Since the El Con location is closer to my house, I decided to call and set up grooming appointments for both of my dogs. Upon arriving I did let the bather checking me in know that both my dogs get a bit nervous but that they've been able to get groomed at other Petsmart's. (As a courtesy, I like to let them know so they don't move quickly and take their time). I left them to be pampered, signing them up for the works. One had a top dog plus package and the other a hempz. Not even ten minutes later, they call to tell me they couldn't bathe my Heeler/Lab mix because he was "aggressive and nervous" and that my pug was finished with his service since he was an express. Upon arriving the bather told me my pug wouldn't let them brush his teeth or grind his nails, but they were able to bathe him and were unable to dry him. They explained my Heeler/Lab mix was aggressive and too nervous. I've had both dogs groomed at petsmart since puppyhood, the Heeler/Lab mix now being 6 years old and the pug almost 4 years old. I was confused that the girl was still trying to charge me for the add on package and bath for my pug. When I reached down to check out my pug, he was dry and still felt dirty. He didn't even smell like he was bathed. I told the girl I wasn't going to pay for the service and that there was no way she bathed my dog in ten minutes. When I spoke to a manager, I wasn't looking for anything in return. I just wanted it brought to her attention how the situation was handled and how the bather acted towards me. The bather gave off a very rude demeanor and could care less about why I was annoyed. I explained to the manager that I work at a petsmart and I understand the importance of calling pet parents to notify them of situations. But I was never notified. Only until after my pug was "bathed." All I wanted was for the bather to be properly coached on how to speak to pet parents and explain why the service couldn't be completed. Not just, "your dog was aggressive." I felt as if they didn't bother to try. It came off as if she wasn't interested in grooming my dogs. I then called the petsmart or Oracle and Wetmore (my preferred store) and asked if they could get my dogs in. After a 30 minute drive across town, I got to petsmart and they groomed both of my dogs with the exact same packages I had asked for. When they called me (an hour for the pug, three hours for the Heeler/lab mix) to pick them up, my dogs felt great, smelled and looked awesome. When I asked their usual bathers how everything went, they told me they did great. A little nervous for their nails, but they took their time and went slow. This salon could take notes from the salon on Oracle and Wetmore. Maybe have bathers who care about their job and the pets a bit more? read more

Karen at PetSmart (elcon) just got done with my poodle mix again. We are very happy with the service provided there! My dog comes home happy and fluffy. He is a poodle mix so needs more tLC for dealing with knots, tangles and long fur. He is also a little bit anxious being a younger rescue dog. They take good care of him there. This is a basic Petsmart. The service is hit or miss as in any large store and them having the product that you are looking for is also hit or miss. The reason why I am rating this place so highly is because of their trainer. Hannah is an amazing trainer. This is the first time I have ever had a puppy from almost birth and Hannah has made training my beautiful, exhuberant, and stubborn puppy so much easier. I did private training because at first, my puppy was afraid of other dogs. Hannah helped work with her to where she learned so much including how to behave with other dogs when out in public. Her behavior has improved ten fold. It was also so much fun to watch how excited Hannah got training dogs. She remembered all of them, was so excited to see them, and showed genuine care for each one of them. The pricing Petsmart has for training is actually really good, and Hannah is a diamond in the rough. I will continue to work with her whenever I need to train a dog. read more

This location just open recently, about 3 weeks ago. My finance and I usually have to drive to the one on Pantano and Broadway. Now it is next door, well almost walking distance. Nothing but great things to say about this Petsmart so far. The staff is caring and fun! Sam is a wonderful trainer! He is so patient with us and Toby, we couldn't ask for more. The grooming salon does wonderful work! And Banfield has been very helpful with making sure our puppy is taken care of properly! Great job Petsmart! read more

I usually go to the Petsmart on Grant because of their training facility, but Ariel is the reason I visit this store. Simply put, she knows her stuff and goes out of her way to help. I've been looking for a backpack for my husky, and didn't like the ones on the floor. Ariel went in the back and got down a pallet with an older model that was exactly what we needed. My dog is a serious hiker, and needed serious gear which she found for us. He is now happily carrying his own water. Ariel is our go-to Petsmartisan. read more

I'm really happy that there is a pet store so close to home, finally! Although it didn't matter to me much before because I didn't have a dog. Now that I do I am super excited. I haven't experienced the shopping there with her but it will be coming up soon. I did go last weekend to find some bowls and such for our new addition and the cashier was completely horrible. The girl asked if wanted a "Petperks" card and I said yes and all she did was say "enter your number" and then nothing... Uhh was I supposed to get a card or some explanation as to what it does,how it benefits me?? I guess not. I did go back for some additional items yesterday and I have got to say both ladies that helped me were amazing! I was inquiring about their new puppy play time and had some questions regarding age limits and since my dog is too old for it asking if they had similar options to socialize my dog. The cashier wasn't too sure so she called a trainer up for me. (Sadly, I can't remember her name) She was so amazing! Since I recently got my puppy I LOVE talking about her and I am excited for socialization and training her and the trainer was very helpful as to what we needed(class wise) and was excited with me about my dogs development. I'm seriously considering going there for classes just to have her work with us. I definitely recommend this Petsmart over some of the others in town, you won't be disappointed (unless you get the first cashier I mentioned). read more

WARNING!!! I asked Karen, the groomer, to cut my Shih Tzu's tail short, when I picked him up she hadn't done that which was no big deal because I knew I could ask her to cut it shorter and I did. His tailbone is curved, when she yanked it straight to trim it he screeched in pain but she tried it again. Since then he won't leave my side because he's traumatized and in a lot of pain because SHE BROKE HIS TAILBONE, which is part of his spine. I'm giving him nerve pain medicine per the doctor's advice. Can you imagine taking a child to the doctor and he broke his tailbone, there'd be hell to pay not just another free visit. To top it all off I can only describe his hair cut as bizarrely bad. PetSmart didn't get it's bad reputation by accident. read more

I had to return some dog food that was unopened and unfortunately I didn't have my original receipt but had a copy of it. They told me I was unable to get a full refund even though I had a copy of a receipt which was understandable. What I didn't understand is why I was not able to receive store credit? The customer service was horrible. The manager and cashier looked at me as if I was on another planet since I asked for store credit instead of a refund. read more
