I brought my Jeep Patriot to Tuffy yesterday, April 25th, because I had a really bad rattling sound coming from under my hood. Before I took it to Tuffy I had a mechanic friend take it for a ride and listen and he informed me that it sounded like the alternator was going bad. So yesterday morning I dropped off my vehicle before they opened. When the owner contacted me I explain to him about what my friend told me. He called me back a little bit later doing for me that he said it was the tensioner and the two idler pulleys. Considering that I've known the owners of this Tuffy for a very long time, I trusted his diagnosis and okay the repair. I got to the garage around 9 a.m. and waited for my car to be fixed. The owner informed me that the work was done and I went ahead and paid $370.80 for the repair. I walked out to my car and the minute I started it up I noticed the same exact sound was coming from the engine. Needless to say I was quite upset because I don't know how the mechanic didn't hear this noise when I heard it the minute I turn the key. That also told me that the repair that they had done was not the repair that needed to be done to fix the problem. I called over another mechanic and ask him to listen and he agreed with me that it was the alternator causing the vibration and then knocking. He called over the mechanic who did the repair and with a little insistence finally got the mechanic to agree that the alternator was the culprit. So back in the bay my car went while I proceeded to wait in the lobby for an additional three and a half hours. They went ahead and replace the alternator, which by the way is covered under my warranty, and when I started my car the noise was gone. I tried to talk to the owner and asked if he could reimburse me for the labor from the first repair since that was not the problem and that they misdiagnosed the problem. He commented that he did the new repair and that he wouldn't even worry about it. I don't know if he thinks I'm kind of female idiot, because I know that he can file that claim with my warranty company and still get paid for it. I was so upset that he wouldn't meet me even halfway on the labor, that I just left. And then realized that I didn't get my old Parts back so I called back to Tuffy and ask for my original parts that were taken out of my car and he said that they were down in the the garbage can but he should be able to get them. He made it seem like it was a big ordeal to get the parts out of the garbage. My father used to be the shop manager at this Tuffy for 9 years and I am actually appalled that the owner allowed to Young mechanic to do repairs without double-checking his diagnosis. I'm even more appalled that I feel that the owner covered up the mechanics error and still got the money for the labor when the repair didn't need to be done. I have since obtained my own personal mechanic, put my own personal review of Tuffy on my Facebook page for all to see, and I will be sure to tell my story to anybody who will listen that is how upset I am. When people pay so much money for labor I truly believe that the repair that is being done better be the right repair. I will not be going back there ever again. read more

First, it started with Fred. I called on Saturday because I was frantic about my Betty (BMW) 328i that stalled out while I had my daughters (2) in the car with me some 60 miles away from home. I am a single mom. I didn't know where to turn or what to do and AAA was giving me trouble. Fred was calm and informative. He knew what to do. He said, "Get the car here as soon as you can and we will start working on it so that you can get answers." I felt relieved. I couldn't follow the car but I contacted them 20 minutes before close and got some answers but had to wait until Monday to find out more... Enters Chris. Chris finished the transaction by telling me it was something to do with some sensors and he was so happy that it wasn't anything worse. He offered solutions and seemed to be on my side. I was so worried about cost. I could only afford so much right now. I had to pay my rent. He offered a house payment plan and that helped me so much. Chris was kind and friendly and wasn't rushing me off of the phone. I even added an oil change to the service because poor Betty was 11,000 overdue for that. Chris took care of everything. When I picked up my Betty on Monday, she looked good and so far she is running smoothly. I was told about the guarantees and if there is something to happen, I will have coverage no matter where I am stuck. I felt safe had comfort thanks to Chris. I WILL BE GOING BACK. I will be telling my friends. I am so thankful. read more

I went to this location on March 15 because my brakes were grinding and I had a warranty from 2011. They replaced the rotors and brakes costing me nearly $350.00. My brakes continued to grind after l left the shop after 4 hours, and I had an appointment. Problem supposedly fixed. Grinding did not cease so on April 11 I went to Tuffy in Summerfield. They told me they could not figure out what brakes were put on my car but they were not the ones for my car. Jokingly said they were probably ones they had just laying around. They replaced everything under the warranty and fixed my grinding. They told me the Tuffy on 200 is a franchise and don't have to answer to anyone so they can do what they want. So think twice before you go here for service. They don't appear to know what they are doing. I am going to contact the corporate office and also dispute my credit card charge. They did not fix my problem. Brakes are a safety issue and they had no concern for my safety. read more

If you do go there, be sure you check the box requiring a written estimate for everything - even if you think it's something that should only cost a couple bucks. While there for an oil change, I pointed out a screw needed replacing on a light fixture. I offered to pay a couple bucks to replace it saying: "If you need to charge a couple bucks for it, that's ok". Nothing was said to counter that so I thought maybe they were going to do it as a courtesy to keep a new customer happy (as many shops would have done). When it came time to pay, I found out I was charged $10 to put in that 1 single little screw/nut. Seemed like gouging to me. I think they were making sure they made their money back on the $5 oil change coupon which brought me in there. I think they accomplished that and more. I also discovered they didn't bother to grease the door latches as requested which kind of made me wonder if they really even changed the oil/filter either. read more
