I'm so glad I discovered this cute boba shop in the neighborhood! There was a snow storm when we visited but that didn't stop us from celebrating Tulip's Tea Turning Two! The shop owner was so sweet, helpful and overall seemed very grateful for us stopping in. At the time of our visit, the business was offering a buy one, get one half price deal so it was the perfect time for us to try their drinks. I ordered the black sesame and ube boba and my bf had the caramel banana. Both drinks were so yummy and satisfied our sweet tooth carvings on a snowy day. I know this spot will hit once the weather warms up. Can't wait to come back and try their other flavors! read more

This was such an unexpectedly refreshing experience! As someone who has spent ten-plus years combined in customer-facing roles, I know firsthand how hard it is to remain positive and cheerful. The woman working behind the counter at Tulips Tea was a brilliant ray of sunshine. She was incredibly friendly, kind, welcoming, positive, and enthusiastic--the kind of customer service I don't recall having received in an obscenely long time. The tea was very good as well! I ordered a Caramel Thai Milk Tea, iced. It had present, delectable, Thai tea notes, as well as sweetness and richness from the caramel. It was also well balanced, without being an overload of milk or sugar. I got this one with boba, of course; which was high-quality too. Finally, the vibe inside is cute! It is a smaller space, so there isn't a tremendous amount of seating. Now, while the tea wasn't completely mind blowing, it was still excellent! Combined with the customer service, Tulip's Tea on Tuesday delivers not only on alliteration, but also a phenomenal experience. read more

Such a CUTE spot and the barista was so so sweet. I got a regular iced matcha latte but they had so many options, like ube matcha or strawberry. It's a smaller space but it does have some seating with a very charming and colorful vibe. 100% coming back to try their other matcha flavors. read more

Tulip's Tea on Tuesday is by far my favorite place to get bubble tea in the city!!! They have an extensive menu of teas and a lot of personalization options. The teas and ingredients within them are so high quality! You can tell they are made with care. They also have fun, seasonal options on the menu, so keep an eye out for those! Definitely check out some of the pastries and crafts available. I've been able to get a few knick-knack gifts for friends here. You can't go wrong with any sweet treat here! The owner and employees are so sweet! The decor is so cute within the shop. The shop sometimes hosts a variety of cute craft classes. A fantastic place for coffee, bubble tea, and more! The owner provides the best service I've ever had. She is incredibly outgoing, will literally run over to help hold the door open, and make sure you have what you need. More people need to know about this place. I've had a few different drinks but my favorites are the Iced Strawberry Hojicha Latte and the Iced Cinnamon Banana Caramel Latte. The inside is very cute, well kept, and am pretty sure they host little events. Not too many chairs, but enough for a small group if you want to stay for a bit. read more

This place officially has my heart. I came here off of a friend's recommendation and it is amazing. The owner is so nice and amazing and really embodies customer service to the max. I always get the strawberry matcha and the drink is very customizable. I appreciate that the drink is consistent and I know what to expect. This is a cute spot to chill and hang out for a bit with friends but note that the space is a bit small so it can get pretty crowded easily. This tea shop is SO cute! The owner was the sweetest & so friendly. They package the drink in the cutest little carriers and the decor is lovely. I got the rose matcha and it's probably the best matcha I've had in the city. It was so fresh and perfectly sweetened without being too sweet. This is my neighborhood go-to bubble tea spot. The workers here are always so kind and go out of the way to hold the door for me and my daughter with her stroller. As far as the bubble tea, I like the blended drinks especially with the crystal boba. The regular milk tea is just ok. My daughter also likes the chocolate milk. read more

This is a fun place! They will energetically take your order and make your delicious tea. They are too friendly! There are a few seats, if you want to drink in. It's a comfortable place. Cashier was very nice! She thought I was another person since I came with a friend who's a regular. It was my first time tho hahahaha the Strawberry Matcha latte was good! Though I wish there was more ice! I love how it comes with the holder! I hope they ask first if you want to have one tho, I really didn't need it bec I was gonna drink it right away. This is the CUTEST tea shop in Chicago. Everything from the décor, packaging, and menu is absolutely adorable. I ordered the Taro Milk Tea, taro empanada, and bun. The tea is definitely the best I've had in Chicago- the jasmine balanced extremely will with the milky sweetness. The pastries were delicious as well. The service is extremely friendly and you can tell the owners take pride in their shop and products. I highly recommend this shop and I am sure it will become popular quickly read more

This place is so lovely. My friend lives not too far so she took me for a quick lunch sip and it was such a great experience. We were warmly welcomed by Tulip who was so friendly and bubbly (even on these super cold winter days), and she was so patient with me while I figured out what I wanted. I live about a block from this place and finally decided to try it out with my sister in law. The drinks were INCREDIBLE, fresh and made with love. It's really gross because when I brought my friends for the first time, there were no tables available except for the one he always uses to put his dirty bare feet on. So we had to sit with his smelly feet as our "neighbor" just a couple feet away. If he's homeless, I have a lot of sympathy for him. But he obviously had sandals which he doesn't use when he puts his feet on chairs, and nobody should be putting bare feet on chairs that people sit on in a cafe anyways. If he's a regular, he should know to respect the cafe, the owners, staff, and patrons better. He also takes up that whole half of the long table by the front so that no customers can sit there. And nobody would want to use that chair he has used for his dirty feet anyways. Please inform him politely it's causing a distraction and is a health hazard. There needs to be some standards at cafes for sanitary reasons even if it's not crowded. It's just pretty gross.

I love the amazing cakes that are so delicious and unique but on top of that, it is Asian owned, LGBTQ supporting, etc. A lot has changed since their little storefront with no seating. The bakery is now a full on cafe and I'm so happy to see how much they've grown and how successful they are. And while it is glorious, I will say I miss the sweet neighborhood charm and great customer service it used to have. Getting in touch with the bakery through phone or text can be tough and to be honest, sometimes one of the people working there is kind of...very mean. It had me questioning if I should keep coming back. I just love this bakery so much though and being raised by parents that had a small food business, I can't help but want to support. I had a particularly difficult last minute request for the bakery a few weeks ago and I was reminded why this place is so great. It had been YEARS since I made this specific request, which was an order for a slice of cake for every flavor and a cupcake for every flavor. This is a BIG and time consuming request, especially if it's last minute. Unfortunately I come to the city whenever the traffic isn't atrocious, so it's always last minute. Dom absolutely pulled through though. Even though there were other employees there (I saw two others but one disappeared and then another male was kind of walking around the cafe and such), Dom took this giant request and fulfilled it himself. The other gentleman (not the mean person previously mentioned) was actually who I made the request to, but he told Dom to do it. I was kind of confused why they didn't do it together but idk, maybe the other guy isn't allowed to handle food? Who knows. Regardless, this request obviously took a long time and the line was getting longer; people were getting a little restless but Dom stayed calm but was swift. I swear he was moving faster than most people in the industry could with a cake knife like that. He was not impatient or rude to me at all. He was just there to do his job as fast and well as possible. It's so rare to see that type of work ethic. He is also so obviously proud of the bakery and the food they serve which makes you feel good about being a patron there. So although I continue to have an unpleasant experience with one particular employee there, Dom keeps my love for this bakery alive. He reminds me of what this bakery was like when they first opened their doors. I hope Dom is cherished there and I bet he is considering his work ethic. I will continue to support this bakery and I recommend everyone else to support as well. It may not be that small little shop anymore but Dom is a reminder of the heart of the place.

What a joy it is to visit Tulips Tea on Tuesday. Such a wonderful local boba and smoothie shop! The owner is incredibly kind, generous, and genuinely one of the friendliest people you'll meet. She is always so polite and respectful, even greeting customers with a bow, which really shows how much she cares about people and their experience. As a local painter myself, I also have to say the color scheme and design she created for the shop are extraordinary. You can tell a lot of thought and creativity went into the space. it feels warm, welcoming, and beautifully put together. You can feel the positive energy the moment you walk in. Amazing service both in drinks and pastries. Terrible weather, but even after we forgot our cookies inside she chased us down on the snowy sidewalk to make sure we got everything we paid for.
