I was in the area and decided to pop in and check out the tea collection. Cute little shop with all the amazing smells! Owner Sam was friendly and helpful. Not that many decaf teas to choose from but I ended up with the San Francisco blend which I brewed up yesterday and it was delightful! While there, I decided to also try their coffee and couldn't resist adding another bag of tea. A little pricey but you're partly paying for the experience - you can't smell tea leaves online. Great place for loose leaf tea! The owner first greets you with the sweetest smile. He is amazing and very insightful. He has tons of different loose leaf teas from different regions. I was looking for an afternoon caffeine kick and came across this place. Not only are there loose leaf tea to purchase, but he can also make it on the spot for you. There were tons of other items you could purchase as well (like tea pots, coffee items, etc). I told him I was looking for some loose leaf green tea and he asked me if I wanted it from Japan, China, or Taiwan. I mentioned wanting Japanese so he let me smell a few of the different leaves. I went with the Sencha Loose Leaf Tea and I was not disappointed. The teas are very aromatic and I was excited to also purchase additional bags to bring back home. This shop will be my go to place to purchase coffee from now! I love the variety in teas and coffee they have on hand. During our visit I purchased a half of pound of Jamaica me crazy and half of pound of chocolate raspberry coffeee. I even couldn't help myself and purchased some chocolate covered espresso beans. A half of pound of coffee cost about $7.99 and varies dependingon the blend of coffee. My husband was on the hunt for some new decaf teas. He grabbed a bag of peppermint and another raspberry blend. The bags of tea was $5 a piece. I can say these teas and coffees are by far way better than Folger's or Maxwell house. The smells are amazing and very potent which smells up our whole kitchen. Let's just say I will be back to try some more flavors next month and no more Folger's for me! BTW, this business accepts cash and credit cards! read more

We discovered this gem years ago. It immediately became the only place we would go for coffees and teas. Sam, the owner, is as helpful and kind as can be; always greets us with a big smile and a warm hello. He offers a wide and interesting selection and his aptly named "Sam's Blend" is our go-to choice for starting our mornings right. He also has a selection of top-quality oils, condiments, cookies and sweets that you won't find at the grocery store. Well, we've since moved to Brooklyn but we still get all our coffees and teas from Sam. Our order arrived today and when I opened it, I made my husband come over a take a big sniff. Coffee Tree & Tea Leaves is a must visit place in Lakeview if you are a coffee/tea lover! This is my go to place for specialty coffee/tea whenever I want to gift high quality coffee to a friend. They also sell various coffee brewing machines, cups, tea pots, etc for your coffee/tea needs. The staff here is always so welcoming and helpful. That hasn't changed with the new COVID measurements. I recently went into the shop looking for a specific coffee and they didn't have it but the staff took the time to help me find something that was just as great! Right now the shop only allows one person at a time in the shop, even if you come with someone expect that only one of you can enter the shop. They still offer all of their same services but you just can't roam around the store looking at all the coffee bean barrels like before. Prior to the strict entry guidelines Coffee Tree & Tea Leaves was always busy and that hasn't changed. The only difference now is there is always a line to enter the shop. No matter the time of day it always seems to be a few people in line but the line moves quickly. read more

Excellent selection of decaf teas and coffee. The gentleman working there was very helpful, answering all my questions and guiding me to different varieties that I hadn't tried before. I appreciate that you can get both teas and coffees in small amounts, so you can experiment and try new things without spending a lot of money on products you may not like. I also tried a box of the cookies, the coconut flavor, and they were delicious. I'm still working my way through the teas and coffees, but I may go back just to get more of those cookies, and try a different variety.
