This firm could have informed me based on the screening information they collected that I would not have a case regarding my issue with federal employment health insurance. Instead, they chose to charge me $150 consultation fee and in the five minute phone call, I was treated with a good deal of disrespect by the attorney, who acted as if being on the call with me and explaining things was just simply exhausting for her. I would recommend going elsewhere and getting a free consultation, preferably somewhere where you can be treated with respect. This is a law firm that is geared for federal clients with work problems in federal judicial or military sectors. If you are federal civilian employee and have employment issue with any federal government agency outside of the above, you will be truly let down as your case goes further. They are good at easing your anxiety, frailty, frustrations, stress, panic, scaredness, and insecurities when the work employment issue is at its peak and they initially take you in as a client. You are assigned a counsel who is working their way up the firm but still experienced and capable to get you through indirect resolution or mediation and put a halt to the actions. During my case they could not get a resolution at the indirect resolution stage of the EEOO process with the federal agency, and we proceeded to the direct resolution. Here is where it goes down hill. You have these abrupt changes in lawyers, increases in retainer agreements, more retainer agreements, but they put lame excuse it is the legal team. All of a sudden the expensive ones want to take over. There are many stages during the direct resolution and each stage requires a retainer agreement that gets more expensive and they want payment in lump sum. They became inflexible, belligerent, and all out unprofessional. I spent $16k on attorney fees for meetings, depositions, submittals. Each stage it was amore money and retainer agreements but no closure. They never tried to settle during any of the stages, which is an option. Eventually I got angry. I sent an email to them asking for a list of success cases or settlements they have achieved with any federal agency that is not judicial or military. It went silent. That is when I realized it is not about the professional resolution of a case for a client but squeezing out money, post indirect resolution. They did not produce any documentation or track record with organizations within USDA, EPA, DOI, BLM, etc. There and then I knew I was pissing away money that should go to my children. I told them they were no longer needed. If you hire them to represent you for initial federal complaint representation, it is a wise investment because you will feel protected and the feds will back off. The negative feelings and despair you are experiencing at that moment subsides. The problem is still there but intensity will be diffused. When you get to the indirect resolution phase and no resolution is achieved at the meeting, cut your losses with them and seek another firm flexible to work with your financial means and will go aggressively for the resolution, closure or win.Tully will disappoint, fail, you and use you. They will not seek proactively what is best for you. I have served on federal EEOO committees, and I learned the process is designed for the employee to lose through a process of confusion, submittal of forms, meeting deadline dates, repetitive completion of forms and the complaint, regardless of the target group. I returned from deployment and hired Stephanie Tulley and when I paid her; she unbeknownst to me placed a "reoccurring" payment on my account at my bank. I did not know a person could do that upon one's account. I ceased it. further more; I had VIDEO evident of sexual harassment and a slew of direct evidence. I linked Tully and EEO, and I'm out of the equation. I received a DISMISSAL from the organization due to LATE SUBMISSION from Tully. the dismissal needed to be removed, so an appeal needed to be submitted, but Tully requested $8000 more to submit an appeal on their mistake. This is my life, not a fictional story, and now I've been struggling with how to recover from this dismissal and find representative. I was working with Mr. Ryan Green and he was very quick and aggressive with asking for more money. We talked over the phone and sent emails that were very expensive. After he asked for more money to work on my case, I asked him "what was the status of my case?" and come to find out, the long calls and emails were absolutely irrelevant because my case closed almost a year before he asked for even more money. I asked him for a refund for the time and the so called work he charged me for on my closed case and he firmly told me "NO." It's a shame that he knowingly would do a total and permanently disabled veteran that way. I would NOT recommend this law firm to an enemy if I had one. Stay away! Save yourself time, money & heartache. I have filed a complaint with the Bar & Grievance Committee due to their failure to communicate. If you hire this firm, expect to receive constant email and US mail as a reminder that you owe them money or have a payment due. However when it comes to communication about your case, they will fail to respond to your emails and you won't get any important paperwork about your case until either after the fact or last minute, leaving you stressed and uninformed. This firm is unethical in their failure to communicate and keep their clients updated. I hope every lawyer in the firm isn't this way but a majority of the ones I have dealt with are the same and they do not care about your case, only how much money you owe them. They will do a horrible job in their representation but expect thousands of dollars while all the while your money is spent in tears and agony as you sit and wonder what to expect in court. I am currently in Law school for my Bachelor's Degree in Law and my main goal is to be a lawyer who is intentional about seeing their client win and making sure they have nothing to worry about while I work on their case. I pray I don't ever turn into a money hungry lawyer who can't see past my own nose but who actually cares about my clients and their families. Even their supervisors fail to respond to emails or phone calls. Nobody will contact you in regards to your concerns. They even billed me once against my consent and charged my card while I had an open complaint with their firm & when I made them aware that I did not SIGN the consent form, I was issued a refund. I would absolutely NOT recommend this firm unless you want to write your own responses, constantly remind the attorney the facts of the case and remind them when a response is due to the court. I hired the firm for multiple EEO filings and potential disciplinary matters and didn't think my rough draft written responses would be forwarded with what I thought would be notes/thoughts between me and my attorney. Nor that I would end up writing the bulk of the responses that needed to be submitted myself. I did advise the firm of my dissatisfaction with the attorney representing me and was initially contacted by their client assurance team which indicated they received my complaint and were reviewing it and would have someone reachable out to me to discuss it, and that never happened. When the judge indicated she was going to rule against me in a summary judgement and gave a deadline to respond, I never heard from my attorney. That was until I reached out to the founding partners and CEO the day the response was due to indicate I never heard from my attorney and was going to respond myself and as a courtesy was advising them in the event the judge sanctioned them for failure to respond. And since it was so rushed by the attorney I had to stay up until just before midnight when it was finally "finished" only to have to edit out the cut and paste from another case that had nothing whatsoever to do with my case. I can continue to cite other examples of inadequate representation but I think you are able to make your own decision on whether or not this is the type of representation you want. read more

After going back and forth with this firm over a two week period I decided not to retain them. The more time you spend talking with these people, the more you will learn about their work ethic and culture. These people are not interested in your best interest as a client whatsoever. They are only interested in how your case benefits them even if it means taking a bad case or overcharging for an exceedingly straight forward case. My advice to you is if you are on a tight schedule to file, start your search for representation elsewhere. My experience is that they will certainly take advantage of your unfortunate situation. If your calling about VA disability, your far better off going to your local VSO (Veteran Service officer) in your state, its free and they are better qualified in my experience they charge $150 for initial consult for an hour. the lawyer, just went on and on about themselves, about different scenarios that effected Korean War Vets ( I was in Iraq) and some base that water source was contaminated in the 1950's! She gave no insight or guidance. She claims she's a vet who worked at JAG which may be true but goes to show how sorry some separated military personal become in civilian life. I feel sorry for anyone she represents. Don't waste your money your better off googling your condition and going with a free VSO officer. They really reinforced the stereotype of bad lawyer out for money. Again run don't walk away if your Vet fighting for disability. I expressed my concerns to a managing partner at Tully Rinckey who continued to come up with excuses for that attorney. I spoke with 2 other law firms regarding my case and both independently of each other, said the same thing, "Tully Rinckey made numerous errors in the handling of your case". One of the worse experiences dealing with a Law firm I have ever experienced. Constant retainers, paid $150. 00 just to talk to a lawyer, then $2,500.00 to get everything started, and it was just an appeal. All that was done was a letter stating my offer to the agency, and the rest were extension letters. This law firm charged me for everything including paper and faxing fee. To me they were more interested in money than the case. Mr. Tomes: {I'll add the truth to this, as I correct your way of thinking} Thank you for providing the document I requested. {I forwarded all the emails to you & you refused to even read the subject lines to find the one you were looking for. Talk about too lazy to skim for a subject line OSC} I have now reviewed the history of your matter. You filed a whistleblower reprisal complaint with the U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC), {as I was directed to by Mr. Green} without the assistance of this firm, on or about March 21, 2017. You subsequently retained the firm {my receipt is dated for 11 Oct 2016 from Mrs. Rucker, Esq.} to represent you during OSC's investigation of your complaint. The firm, primarily through attorney Ryan Green, reviewed your complaint and its underlying documentation and communicated with both OSC and you, including advice to you on amending the complaint. Efforts to amend your complaint were undertaken by paralegal Katherine (Katie) Bundy under Mr. Green's supervision. These efforts were stalled by the inability to obtain necessary information {because your firm refused to NOT read the material that was given to you, by me} from you. In December 2017, we were contacted by {the FOURTH lawyer that this case was passed to} an attorney from OSC who requested additional information regarding your complaint, essentially the same information {that you refused to read that was in your possession} we had been attempting to obtain from you in order to amend your complaint. This request from OSC was promptly relayed to you my Ms. Bundy via email on December 12, 2017 but you did not provide the requested information. The OSC attorney then went on military leave and made contact again in February of this year, setting a deadline of February 21 by which to provide the requested information. Mr. Green again relayed this information to you on February 13. At that point, you spoke to the firm's D.C. Office Receptionist {to relay that, I had filed a THREE page complaint with Twenty-Eight pages of supporting documents to the local US Congressman's office to, request a congressional investigation into the matter} and threatened to file a Bar complaint. This broke the attorney-client relationship and, in response, on February 16, Mr. Green informed you via email that the firm would be unable to continue its representation of you and would immediately withdraw as your representative at OSC. This led to a sarcastic and accusatory response from you 12 days later. {like one is not allowed to be upset after spending thousands of dollars for nothing} Thereafter, you apparently contacted the firm again {wrong again because another lawyer from the office of client satisfaction called me} and said you did not want to disengage but rather wanted a new attorney. However, by that point the attorney-client bond had already been broken. {oh because you said so & not at my request} On March 7, 2018, OSC sent you a letter {it was an email, NOT a written letter} advising of its preliminary determination to close your case due to a lack of supporting evidence. A review of that letter reveals the very same flaws in your complaint that we identified and attempted to rectify but were unable to do so because of your lack of cooperation. {my lack of cooperation equals, your firm being told that all the information that was being asked for, was in the original hardcopy of paperwork that your office had but yet refused to read.} The OSC letter provided a 13 day window within which to provide additional information. As the firm no longer represented you, we did not respond to that letter. OSC's determination to dismiss your case became final March 22, 2018. You have 65 days from that date, May 26, 2018, to file an appeal from OSC's determination with the Merit Systems Protection Board. I have reviewed the invoices in your case and arranged for a credit of $529 {another lie because the check that was sent to me, was for $197.80} to be issued to you due to billings which I do not believe added sufficient value to our representation in your matter. The firm regrets the manner in which our relationship ended, but it is the firm's position that, given the difficulties {of the fact that the firm refused to read the case file that was handed to you} in that relationship, it was left with no other reasonable course of action. These people are nothing but crooks. I went to them because I saw they wrote an article on loss of jurisdiction (my situation) and saw they handled security clearance issues. As a previous reviewer noted, I paid the $150 consultation fee where they said "oh yeah we can help you we'll put one of our best on it". Well they gave me an individual by the name of Greg Greiner who literally has done nothing for me. After getting charged 350 an hour to repeat the same story I told during the consultation, I never heard back from the guy after he said he was going to send me some forms to fill out. I gave him a week and when I got no response I sent him an email asking status. His email response sounded like he didn't even remember what we had talked about the previous week so I had to send him all the information I provided in the first place back for review again (and you know he charged me to go back through it). In the mean time waiting for him to respond I had been in contact with my old agency and my old employer asking for their opinion on my clearance status and when I got their response I sent it to Greg expecting an opinion or response but heard nothing. Finally after another week he got back saying he had a medical issue but was back on it now. Well I got one email back saying he'd check on what we can do and that's the last I heard from him (been about two weeks now) and I can't get anyone there to respond to my requests to just give me my retainer back. These people are horrible at their jobs; either that or they openly refuse to give even basic care into their work if you don't immediately fork out many many thousands of dollars. They aggressively demand new payments and new down payments before even finishing pre-agreed work you'd pay for and are perpetually looking for new ways and excuses to cheat you or fail to provide you with the basic services you'd need unless you pay an additional exorbitant fee that you are under no obligation to pay in spite of their sleezy car salesman trickery trying to make you think you HAVE to pay it for them to continue their work, even before they have clocked out on the time you've paid for. As soon as they get a sniff of you being mindful of time, payments, and not wanting to pay more than what you need to pay, your lawyer will likely suddenly get "sick," "go on medical leave," or openly be switched to someone else because they have left the firm without you being informed much ahead of time; while acceptable once in a blue moon, it happens with such frequency, they either have terrifying turnover (indicating no decent attorney will stay there and thus no decent attorney will represent you) OR they are immorally and blatantly lying to you about these lawyers being sick or on leave or leaving the firm because they simply don't give a crap about your case and throwing it to the back burner. If the turnover problem is true, it can explain the talent flight out of the firm and thus explain the HORRIBLE product I have been receiving. This firm is comprised of people whose writing ability was far inferior to my own, whose know-how of my particular industry problem was also inferior to my own, and whose legal knowledge was simplistic and utterly unapplicable to my case. As I complained to them about this, they dialed back the absurdity of their abuses and instead turned into a giant gaping hole of silence that I do not want to talk to out of fear of trickery, deceit, being bamboozled into thousands of dollars of debts for an inferior representation, or anything else. My life has been utterly ruined, I have had no emotional, intellectual, monetary, or legal support and it is now being turned into even greater desperation as the people I am allegedely paying to support me do nothing but bleed me dry and act with the utmost indifference to my existence. I would never recommend this "Military Law" firm to anyone...especially those of us in the military who really need help. I dealt with this firm for 2 years...they asked for a $2000.00 retainer to try to help get info for us to get the remaining benefits due us from my husbands death in 2010...it took 3 months to get the retainer...long story short...after getting it to them, I received no more info from them after 18 months than I had trying to do things on my own for over 6 yrs...I received a check for a 147.00 back from my retainer and a letter telling me what I should do...even though that it what I hired them to do...they basically stole from me and my children, do not use them unless you want complete frustration and more crying...my kids were really hoping this was the answer to their inheritance. This place is terrible. I was out of work a couple of months already due to health issues and needed legal advice for my short term disability. They were very quick to charge me $150.00 for a one hour consult over the phone. I was careful to explain the entire situation and ask all necessary questions as well as provide my disability forms. Thanks to the lawyers ill advice who was supposed to be a disability lawyer, I was denied disability. I am still not receiving benefits. The next day in the mail I received a letter stating they would not cover my case. I would have been better off not calling and paying at all. Had I not followed the advice of the supposed specialist in disability, I would actually be getting benefits right now. Instead I had to appeal and am still hoping. To add insult to double injury, they sent me an email asking how I would rate their services. When I told them, it was mentioned that someone would call me back. No one ever called me back. I have since called two more times to request to speak with someone about the extremely unprofessional services and the nerve for them to take my money when they know I am already down and out thanks to them. I have no problem paying for professional advice but this attorney was clueless. A disability attorney should be very familiar with the forms to fill out and how they should be filled, but that was not the case. If you are looking for help with disability, run for your life or your already desperate situation will become worse while they take your $150 and do nothing for you.
