This law firm represented me in a racial discrimination/retaliation case before the EEOC(Federal Sector) in Chicago. This law firm doesn't do anything for "FREE!" They are concerned more about, the self- promotion of their law firm through their website, You Tube, various media outlets, i.e., the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, The Chamber, Politico, Fed-Times, CNN, Military Times and participating in an Army 10-miler expo, and making money off of their clients than they are about defending the rights of their clients. This firm has lost focus and gotten off the task of providing competent legal services for their clients. According to their website, the last time they won an appeals case was three years ago( 2007). The attorneys assigned to my case lacked courage/court room presence and were afraid to speak up before my Agency/the EEOC Administrative Judge (AJ) and aggressively defend my case. The attorneys were unprofessional, incompetent, lacked integrity, did not possess the necessary skills to persuasively argue my case and charged excessive legal fees. I was billed for information I provided and research I conducted that they should have completed. Twice they used a tactic of assigning a junior attorney to my case. These junior attorneys increases their billable hours by calling me basically to rehash facts that had already been discussed with the senior attorney assigned to my case. I confronted one of the junior attorneys about this and he became angry and hung up the phone. The lawyers seem to forget that they are employed by the client and should acknowledge the client's recommendations as to what direction the case should go. The firm represents themselves as knowledgeable about federal government EEOC matters yet the attorney for my case was "clueless" and did not know who to contact at the EEOC to find out what AJ would be assigned to my case when the original AJ left the EEOC to become a U.S. Magistrate. Please check your invoices/ court filings for errors. Twice, I was billed for services that were rendered to another client! The firms lawyers also misrepresented the cost of my legal fees to the EEOC AJ reporting that my fees were approximately $55K more than what I actually owed , chose to ignore and not address/report the misconduct conduct/extreme bias/unprofessional behavior of the EEOC AJ assigned to my case (as the lawyers code of ethics requires them to do) because they may have to appear before this AJ again on another case. The lawyer stated that he did not want to be involved in an investigation regarding the AJ in this matter. In July 2010, I informed the junior attorney that as a result of the pre-hearing telephone conference with the hostile/biased EEOC AJ , I decided that it would be unproductive to proceed to hearing. It was then that the junior attorney said that there was "Money on the table for my legal fees!" Meaning, that the Agency was willing to settle and pay my legal expenses. This did not make sense. I waited another four weeks to hear about settlement results with negative results . In August 2010, I became so frustrated with the lawyers at Tully Rinckey's incompetence/lack of interest in my EEOC case, lack of candor and the fact that I had limited financial resources that I requested that the firm voluntarily withdraw my case before the EEOC AJ. In the end, after 2 years I paid Tully Rinckey PLLC approximately $80K of my hard earned savings. At some point, it appeared that this firm was working against me,instead of for me. Just imagine what they would have charged if my case was in federal court! They couldn't even negotiate a basic settlement, which should have been their first order of business. If you are looking for competent counsel to represent you before the federal sector of the EEOC you will do better going with another firm. They have time frames to follow, so it is important. Does the attorney and the staff (at times) take a while to respond to you? Yes....they are busy with other cases or in court...hello? I retained T&R in D.C. for a wrongful termination in California. I had reached out to over 32 attorney firms and the only firm who would take my case was T&R. I received a personal call from one of the partners who actually read the (over 20) pages of incidents that I sent out. The call from the partner made me cry happy tears. He even called on a weekend. T&R is AWESOME! Are attorneys annoying, bossy and overpriced? At times...of course! Any attorney worth their education and experience is! But this law firm worked hard and they expect their clients to work hard with them. You want your case tried? Then put the work in with them! I spent from 02/2018 until 03/2020 with this firm and I don't regret one step! Jennifer, Ryan and their staff were amazing! Did I get impatient at the end? Who wouldn't have after 2 years of fighting for something that cost me my reputation and employment. I balked at the Syracuse City School Districts offer of $50,000 before the Information Process Meeting featuring my Attorney (GianCarlo) and me vs. The SCSD's Team. On Tuesday, April 23, I contacted your firm and spoke with Donna Williams Rucker in an attempt to explain my situation. However, to my surprise, Donna informed me that she was too busy to discuss my case and requested that I call back the following day, April 24. Upon calling back on April 24, my experience took a turn for the worse. Donna's demeanor was extremely rude from the onset of the conversation. She promptly mentioned a consultation fee of $450 and a retainer fee of $10,000, followed by an abrupt statement that she wouldn't consider my case without hearing the details. When I tried to seek clarification, she abruptly hung up on me. In light of this disrespectful behavior, I attempted to contact another partner at your firm, Stephen M. Godek, in the hopes of understanding the situation better. However, my call was intercepted by Donna, who reiterated that my case would not be taken by the firm. The dismissive and unprofessional conduct displayed by your representatives, particularly Donna, is deeply concerning. I believe that such behavior falls well below the standards expected of legal professionals and undermines the trust and credibility of your firm. I had been terminated from my employer as part of a group Reduction In Force, and was offered a severance package that I felt was a bit on the low side. I had heard severance packages were negotiable. I reached out to 5 separate firms in my area inquiring about a consultation for a severance package negotiation. Extremely Disappointed with Tully Rinckey PLLC I hired Tully Rinckey PLLC (Michael Yadanza and the firm) for a high-stakes family court matter involving custody and visitation of my child. What I received was poor representation, excessive billing, and a complete lack of meaningful advocacy. Despite paying a substantial amount in fees, the firm billed heavily for vague communications, repetitive document revisions, and work that was largely based on materials I prepared myself. When I raised detailed concerns about the invoices and demanded a refund, the firm refused and instead claimed I still owed them additional money. The representation did not protect my relationship with my child. After their involvement, I was left with severely restricted communication and supervised parenting time -- a significant step backward from the prior arrangement. Communication from the firm was often dismissive, and when I pushed for accountability, the responses were unhelpful and confrontational. I would not recommend this firm to anyone dealing with family court matters. I was able to show all of the documents that I had to show to one of the lawyers. The consultation that I experienced had put me in the right direction. The only downside was the length that the process could potentially take. One potential way was that this could go away within the 90 day mediation period that I agreed to when I filed my initial EEO. Another way was that this could go to federal court where it could take anywhere from 180 days to 1 1/2 years. I would like to take the shorter way. The attorneys also told me about the cost of a federal trial. Would love to see this all go away within the initial mediation period and not drag it out.
