Brianna does the training down in San Diego and she is seriously the best! We had recently adopted our Watson from the shelter and he was literally destroying our house. He ate two metal kennels, my couch, a door, some chairs, and countless shoes. He also wouldn't respond to his name or follow/acknowledge commands. Bri was a saint for wanting to take our case on, and I swear, Watson is a completely new pup! She taught us the importance of consistency, positive reinforcement, and the right tools we needed to keep Watson engaged and stimulated and now we have the best kind of relationship that owners can have with their pets. With her guidance, we've been able to develop the mutual trust and respect needed for Watson to become comfortable with us and to look to us for direction. Tully's Training is truly wonderful. We signed up for a group class for my very shy dog, Clementine. One of the trainers came to my home to discuss Clementine's needs before the class series began, and to discuss training goals for her and for my other pup. The classes were great, and also included discussions (and emailed PDF's) about nutrition and positive training methods. The cost of private lessons is well worth it to establish a solid training foundation, especially for dogs who are working through challenging issues. All of the trainers are as kind and compassionate as they are knowledgable about dog behavior. I had the best experience with Tully's . Sam was so great! She helped me learn how to live with Linus , my very high energy German shorthaired pointer rescue . There was improvement in the first week of training with him. He is a completely different dog 2 months later. I learned how practice and repetition , puzzle toys and nose work could calm him down and make him more focused. We had an amazing experience with Meghan for our new rescue dog, Lilah. We just finished up 6 private lessons, and I'm happy to say Lilah has pretty much mastered loose leash walking, not pulling towards other dogs, sit, down, stay, come and "watch me." She's also pretty far along with "leave it." Meghan also gave us great tips on how to keep her mentally stimulated to alleviate some of her new rescue dog anxiety, and always made herself available to give advice when needed. We really enjoyed being trained to train Wolfie, our 18-month-old Shepherd mix from a shelter. Mary is an amazing animal trainer. I love that her philosophy is positive reinforcement training. Mary communicates with dogs in a way that I have never seen someone do before. My dog's were calm in her presence always and they listened and learned from her from the get go. It was pretty amazing. She is a true expert in her field. After recently adopting our 1 yr old bulldog, Lola, we decided to look into some basic training for her and found Tully's Training. We had private sessions and were SO impressed with their program. We worked with Sara and we cannot speak more highly of her. She is among the best of the best! She is very professional, highly knowledgeable, resourceful, thorough, patient, flexible, caring, and personable. We live in Orange County and had our sessions through Skype, which I think is a highly effective way to do training! Having a trainer "in-person" may put a dog in a different mind-set than if it's just the owner(s) interacting with the dog. And, the owners are the ones who have to put the training into effect every day to be successful, so we were in the driver's seat from the get go, with a highly experienced dog trainer right at our side the whole time telling us exactly how to get the behavior we were looking for. And, she was available at any point between sessions if we were having difficulty. One of the many things I valued was the written recaps of our sessions that Sara would email to us after each session. It covered every important point we discussed which became so helpful to refer back to during the week. The recaps also included links to very helpful articles, YouTube videos to demonstrate specific techniques, recommendations for toys that would provide intellectual stimulation for Lola, etc. I was provided a wealth of information, beyond the training sessions, that was invaluable and continues to be helpful even after we completed our training. Lastly, I will say that we have had a few dogs over the years and have experienced several different methods of training. Tully's approach is very effective, customized specifically to your dog, where all interaction with the dog is positive, and is geared at getting results. Definitely waste of 800.00. She came in and promised us the moon and the sun and as soon as she had half of the money down she was out the door. EVERY session she had, she was here less than 15 minutes and she was in such hurry to leave that it didn't even give us a chance to practice. After 650.00 all my dog learned was sit. He poops and pees all over the house and I cut my losses by emailing her and telling her we were not happy and we want to stop to which she did not even bother to reply and she stopped coming. DON"T do it...Go some where else where they actually care about pet training rather than just taking your money and running away.... read more

We put our 8-month old golden retriever through the positive dog group class simultaneously with private class. Both were run by Sam and she was the absolute best: patient, sweet, and instructive. We saw a major improvement in Granger's behavior, and he learned commands instantly (after months of us trying to do it ourselves). The absolute best!! We were referred to Tully's Training by a neighbor who raved about them and our neighbor was so right about them. We had Claire as our main trainer but Mary also came along to our sessions as we are hoping to do service dog training in the future to help our son with special needs. They are so wonderful with our dog Roxie and with us (and our rowdy children as well!). Very professional and extremely friendly and nice. Roxie now knows all her basic commands and we will build on this. They were so helpful with tips on how to work with some of her less desirable behaviors and were so positive throughout it all. My husband and I told our twins once they turned 8 we would get a dog and we did. Gatsby is my first dog ever! He is a labradoodle. I never knew I could love him so much. This review is for customer service and business practices. We met on a Sunday afternoon with their sales person and behavior specialist in our home to have our interview and analysis. When we were done at the end they were happy to work with us and our dog. We agreed on the cost and asked them to come back in less than a week to so that we can sign the contract and to get things started. The Sales women came back as scheduled on time/early very happy and cheerful. We sat for a few moments and talked. she pulled out the contract and I reviewed it. Upon reviewing it we agreed to give even more than the requested down payment to start. I looked over the contract and didn't notice any language in the contract that stated refund or compensation or additional training if they failed to accomplish their goals with us and our dog. I asked one simple question. Just One. " What is my recourse, if at the of training , with all parties following instructions and rules, if training does not work with my pet?" I was told by Kyle "I would just be mad and out of money!" Because "there is nothing in our contract the gives a refund or any additional training" so "Tully's is not a good fit for you guys Mr. Ellis" Those are the exact words of their employee Kyle. He also added " We should find other trainers because he didn't think I would be happy at the end" this is what I received from asking for some responsibility of any kind on their part.. it was truly a hypothetical question. read more

Working with Claire Anderson to train my anxiety ridden small dog was such a great experience. She gave me so many tools to work on personalized and specific problems we were encountering. My dog was adult/older and had always just been untrained, in his older age his nervousness and seperation anxiety became more pronounced, far reaching and interruptive. I never knew these issues could be successfully worked though, but over time not only has his behavior improved but he seems happier and our relationship is much more rewarding. Learning how to read a dogs behavior and using positive reinforcement has definitely proved to be the most effective way to train a rescue. The only words appropriate for our dog trainer Meghan are miracle-worker. We have 2 rescue dogs, our younger dog is 65 lbs Pit/Australian Shepard mix. We adopted him at 10 weeks, took him to puppy play classes, work, doggy daycare the whole nine yards, in terms of socialization. Unfortunately at about 6 months he started exhibiting serious fear based aggression towards strangers and other dogs. We saw a veterinary behaviorist who put him on medication and then sought to find a trainer to help us manage his condition. Given his issues we knew private training was our only option, we tried a few different training services without success until we found Meghan and Tully's training. The minute we met Meghan we knew we'd found the ONE. She is patient, positive, and knowledgable. She immediately earned our dog's trust and put him to work learning new tricks and skills to change his brain chemistry. Before we started with her we couldn't have any friends or family into our condo without our dog being crated and in another room. During our time with Meghan, she taught us how to properly introduce our dog to new people as well as how to introduce people into our home. We've had 8 sessions and in that time we've successfully had multiple family members come to stay and they finally get to experience the sweet, silly puppy we love without fear. She's also taught us how to manage his anxiety when we pass other dogs on the street, reinforced all his basics, as well as some fun agility moves. I cannot recommend Tully's (specifically Claire) enough! Claire was our at-home trainer for our newly-rescued 10 year old chihuahua Diane and completely changed our dog! Diane had no knowledge of basic commands, went to the bathroom in the house and had separation anxiety. We met with Claire biweekly from Nov-Jan and she worked with Diane from the bottom up; first helping her gain self-confidence, then moving on to tackling her separation anxiety. Claire didn't just give quick fixes for behavior, she worked to go to the root of the issues. Diane is now an independent, confident and MUCH happier dog who is well on her way to being left home alone! Training definitely requires daily work from you outside the training sessions, but I was completely blown away by Claire's deep knowledge and insight, not to mention the patience and care that she gave to our dog.
