This review is long overdue but we're so grateful to our trainer Sam! We rescued a dog right before everything shut down due to the pandemic so we only had one in-person training session before having to switch to zoom. But Sam made the transition so easy! We saw such great results and I honestly can't believe how confident our dog is now. I feel like Sam really gave us all the tools to continue working on behaviors with our dog and she even did a zoom session with us at the dog park to help us socialize him. We loved how she made a list of things we wanted for our 7month old rottweiler and constantly referred to that list throughout the course but also adjusted certain things to cater our needs. My husband and I rescued a puppy from Mexico that ended up being a very difficult pup to train. We were beyond frustrated. After trying in vain to train Corazon on our own, we finally realized we needed help. So we reached out to Tully's Training based on a recommendation from our local pet supply store. Meghan scheduled a consultation with us in our home. We were so impressed with Meghan during our consultation that we signed up for private training sessions on the spot. We had six private sessions with Meghan in our own home spread out over a couple months. Meghan always arrived on time and prepared. Corazon was thrilled to see her each and every time, and she was excited to learn. Our sessions were jam packed with activities...to the point we were all wiped out when she left. We saw immediate improvement with Corazon, and she continued to behave better and better throughout our training sessions. Corazon walks so much better on leash now, and she is finally going potty where she's supposed to go. Hallelujah! She is also much more confident, has better recall, and "checks in with us" more frequently now. We are still working on her not jumping on our guests when they walk through the door, but we realize that is going to take some time. We are confident that her behavior will continue to improve over time. At least we have the skills now to get our dog to think for herself...because ultimately she wants to be a good girl. I had a great experience with Claire. My pug mix had was a great dog but had poor socialization skills and some aggression toward other dogs. They helped to give me positive reinforcement skills that really helped improve my dog's behavior. Now after finishing up training and continuing to work with my dog she has totally improved. I was just able to take her to the dog park and take her off leash with no issues and she was playing with the other dogs there. It was awesome to see! read more

Claire has given our rescue dog, Lucy, a new lease on life. A few weeks after my boyfriend and I adopted our 8(ish)-year-old chihuahua, we knew we needed help. It was obvious she'd had a rough life. Lucy didn't know any basic commands. She would cower when we stood near her or spoke loudly, go potty inside, and was aggressive toward other people and dogs. After completing a program with Claire, it's hard to believe Lucy is the same dog. She's potty trained, enjoys puzzles and play, asks for things she wants, and knows the right way to say 'no' to things she doesn't want. We learned that we don't have a 'bad dog'-we just didn't have the right tools to communicate and work with our smart and sensitive little lady. If I could give more than 5 stars I would in a heart beat!!!! Mary has got to be the best trainer to work with. A friend decided to get a standard poodle puppy but then had to go out of town for work so my mom & I ended up taking care of this big puppy for several months. I decided we needed to have dog training for this guy; more for our own sanity than anything. We learned so much in the 1st session it was amazing! I wish we had known Mary for every animal companion we have ever had in our home. It was more like WE needed the training than the puppy did. Mary is so patient & so kind; I honestly cannot express how appreciative I am for training with her. She will explain the importance of positive reinforcement & why it works. I have been around so many people that train their dogs the wrong way thinking it's the right way & Mary is just the person to put things in terms that even the most stubborn of people will finally understand. We did the private training at a local park & it was awesome!!! Why I suggest to get training from Mary? Mary has gone to school has the knowledge of behavioral psychology, she has worked with shelters, she has worked with veterinarians, she has trained dolphins, penguins, she has way more information than I ever will or anyone else I know. So why not learn from her? Let her give you the tools that you will need to help your animal companion better assimilate at home & with your family. We adopted a beautiful Chocolate Lab from Lab Rescue in May of 2012. With 25 years of having Labs in the family, we were still struggling to help him feel at home. She worked with me and Bernard's needs, never making me feel silly as a new dog parent questioning everything I did with my little man. Over the course of our training I learned to read my dogs needs better, How to comfort him and also how to be the Alpha. Bernard can now sit, stay, lay down, respond to his name and come when called. He walks calmly and nicely on a leash and is comfortable with me and strangers. From a dog who was scared of his shadow, he has come a long way and I attribute 90% of that to working with Sara. Mary was so incredible to work with. My wife and I had taken our rescue mutts, Sadie and George, to group classes in the past with only moderate success. We finally decided to spring for a one-on-one trainer when we couldn't handle pee on the couch and leash aggression any more. After working with Mary for two months, we've seen improvement we didn't think was possible. We used Tully's Training to train our puppy, Ferdinand. We couldn't have been happier with the results. We used them for both individual and group training. For our individual training we had Claire, and for our group training we had Sara. Our individual training was so specified to us and moved at a pace that best suited us and Ferdinand and worked tremendously well! Claire was so generous with her knowledge and time, she was patient with us, not to mention our pup absolutely adored her. She taught us so many tools that we have been able to utilize and share with our family and friends to help further and maintain Ferdinand's training and behavior. She really helped us evolve as pet owners. Tully's focuses on positive reinforcement and that was the best approach for our dog. In between sessions Claire would provide us with videos and articles for reference and that was beneficial as well. She also gave us a lot of useful tips that we could work on, on our own that have proved to be great; such as socializing our dog and how to read a dog park. The group sessions really helped us to reinforce what we learned in our individual sessions and try them out in an environment that was outside of our home and was more distracting, which was a great learning process for us and our pup. Overall, I am happy with Tully's Training. It is a bit expensive though. They worked with me and the needs of my puppy. I had two trainers: the first trainer didn't quite fit right; there were extenuating circumstances. But the second trainer was perfect; Meghan is amazing and so committed. Brianna does the training down in San Diego and she is seriously the best! We had recently adopted our Watson from the shelter and he was literally destroying our house. He ate two metal kennels, my couch, a door, some chairs, and countless shoes. He also wouldn't respond to his name or follow/acknowledge commands. Bri was a saint for wanting to take our case on, and I swear, Watson is a completely new pup! She taught us the importance of consistency, positive reinforcement, and the right tools we needed to keep Watson engaged and stimulated and now we have the best kind of relationship that owners can have with their pets. With her guidance, we've been able to develop the mutual trust and respect needed for Watson to become comfortable with us and to look to us for direction.
