Just up the hill from Tulsa Hills makes it very convenient for all the Jenks Folks!! I've been a member at and played a lot of country clubs in Tulsa over the years! The Canyons & Blackjack Ridge - Sand Springs, OK…read more We recently played a round at The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Overall, it was a memorable experience with some highs and a few drawbacks worth noting. This is a challenging course with lots of doglegs, blind tee shots, and narrow greens. Elevation changes throughout the course added to the difficulty and made for a scenic round. It's definitely a course where local knowledge helps -- some holes required careful club selection and positioning due to hidden greens or tee boxes. The greens were in good condition and rolled true, which was a highlight. For a municipal course, the maintenance was impressive, especially given the complexity of the layout. This is a unique layout, but one thing to be aware of: several holes overlap or run close to each other. We had multiple instances of errant balls coming from nearby fairways, so stay alert throughout the round. We played on a hot day (around 90°F) and were disappointed that there was no drink cart available. However, the staff in the clubhouse were friendly and attentive, which helped make up for it. We visited on a busy Saturday, and the pace of play was about 4 hours -- very reasonable given the traffic and course difficulty. This course is worth checking out, especially if you're up for a challenge and enjoy elevation changes.

If you've never been there, be sure to use your GPS so you won't miss the driveway. It is marked but I would guess you could easily drive past it as you enjoy the country scenery along the way. There is a nice, long driveway and a guard house to check in, to make sure you belong there. Very nice and elegant club house with probably 30' ceilings in the lounge area. Which, by the way, overlooks the 18th green. So if you're betting with the group behind you, you can stare them down as they try to make that last putt. I didn't give them 5-stars as the food we had was okay and not quite as fancy or tasteful as you would expect in a country club setting. The service was excellent and prompt and the other staff was willing to help or answer questions if you wonder around the clubhouse. Definitely worth checking out if you get the chance, would probably be a great place to play a round if you get invited. Good luck and enjoy!

Most recently we played the championship course in the cold and made record time for gameplay. Before that time, I played the par3 under the lights with my buddies and we had a blast. I love how the driving range is not expensive at all. I can chip a few balls and get in the groove without breaking the bank and I can hit food counter for some pregame bites and be satisfied enough to make it through 4-5 hours. If you need a good spot to play, lafortune is the place to play. Especially if you don't want to play an expensive round.

The only down side about the course is that the tee boxes weren't very good. They were torn apart and there was dirt everywhere. Overall, it was a good course. Great course to golf at!
