Customer service here is fantastic! And they are way more than lumber; they are a hardware store that carries a great selection of inventory. I'm so happy a neighbor told me about Tum-A-Lum! Typically I drive from Mosier to Home Depot but not anymore! Tum-A-Lum has everything I need and I don't have to walk across a massive store to pick up 2 or 3 items. Seeking an Allen wrench, wallboard joint compound and a fine grain sandpaper wedge to repair old nail holes in my wall, a worker noticed me searching the aisles and immediately offered help. Within minutes I had what I came in for and then spent another 10 minutes walking around to check out the inventory. Need a new kitchen faucet? Paint supplies? Hardware for doors, picture hanging, dressers? Cabinets and tiles to remodel a bathroom or kitchen? Garden and yard tools and BBQs? Lighting, plumbing and electrical supplies? Even plants, vegetables, soil, seeds and ceramic pots of your garden in their small garden area out front.. They have have a little of everything and a lot of some things! And of course lumber. I've passed by so many times while visiting Hood River, but always assumed it was a lumber supply store for construction, not open to retail. And never realized they were also a hardware store. Located right off exit 65 on I-84 it's super convenient and they have a large parking lot. Yum-A-Lum is now my go-to place for all of my fix-it needs! read more

Can't believe that no one has reviewed this place. have been here twice for various items and it is a great reminder that smaller lumber yards are just not the Home Depot. I had to build a wooden holder for two boats while I was there and these folks were just the people to cut the lumber for me and get the right bolts. Another time I needed the right parts (flat head machine screws :-) and they had all those little parts and made it easy to find. So highly recommend it. And when you are there wander around the corner to the food trucks that are the side. A good snack there! read more

I've been checking prices everywhere. 1/2" plywood is $5.50 cheaper than Home Depot and they use local lumber. Why go anywhere else if you are in Hood River! read more

After going back and forth from Home depot to the Tum-A-Lum in the dalles I have to say, I have never had better service than I got here. Everyone is friendly and somewhat eager to help you. I got so much help from Bri. She immediately greeted me when I walked in with a smile. She has this adorable air about her and was very helpful even with things outside of her department. It's nice to see that Tum-A-Lum is taking their time to hire people who really want to help and be there. And that their other employees are starting to step up their customer service. The Covid 19 pandemic is underway and social distancing is in practice. Not so much at Home Depot, The Dalles. Tum-A-Lum in Hood River has a receptionist at door counting customers and a table with hand sanitizer to clean hands coming and going. The customer counter has been enlarged and tape on the floor to mark distance. Management and employees are doing a great job in caring for your employees and customers. read more

I waited two days for a call back on a special order for ship lap and never heard back. I went to the Tum a lum in The Dalles and they had it ordered in 30 minutes and ready for pickup two business days later. Get the impression if you're not a bigger contractor your business is a nuisance read more
