Once again, didn't show. I called again and was treated with disrespect and ignorance. I asked why he didn't just call and let me know he couldn't come, and was told by Tim "I'm a busy guy, I don't have time to spend all day on the phone". Seriously? That's how you treat your customers? Not only did I get no apology for either day, he started yelling at me because I had to go back to work and couldn't wait an extra 1.5 hours for him to show up. So unprofessional and ignorant.

Where do you go if you need lots of rocks for a landscaping project? Well, you could go to Home…read moreDepot, a nursery, or a landscape materials business, and pay full retail price. Or, you could gradually collect them from the woods, the side of the road, or wherever, for free, but accumulating rocks this way takes a long time. Or, you could just come here. After I decided I wanted to use rocks as borders for my flower beds and shrubs, I tried gathering rocks on my own, but got tired of looking at unfinished projects, due to lack of rocks. I actually found this place through a Google search, not Yelp. I called first, and the owner, Tim, was very helpful and informative. Although he sells mainly to landscape construction companies, stone masons and other professionals, he welcomes homeowners and do-it-yourselfers as well. The business is located on Dry Bridge Road, which is off Route 2, near Schartner Farms. It's not far from the highway (Route 4). Since I work during the week, I had to wait until a Saturday to come here (they're open until 2 p.m. Saturdays) with my trusty Chevy pickup with 1-ton payload capacity. I parked outside the office, and met Tim, the owner, who drove me on a tour of the yard. It turns out that the piles of rocks along the front entry road are only the beginning of the types of rocks they sell. With every bend in the dirt road, he'd show me another huge pile of rocks, and just when I thought he'd shown me all of his inventory, there was more: large rocks, small rocks, rounded rocks, flat rocks, angular rocks and more materials, including sand, gravel, loam, mulch and recycled asphalt product. They even sell some large, specially-shaped rocks - such as ones that would be used to build a yard waterfall - by the piece. Among his customers are stone wall builders. I chose the pile of rocks that I wanted to pick from (rounded fieldstone, about bowling ball sized, or slightly smaller). Tim had his yardman use a heavy front loader to clear a path to the pile, and bring a 1 cubic yard bucket over to the pile. They let me hand-select the rocks, although if you're not as particular as I am, they can just scoop 'em up and load them in your truck. After I had hand-loaded the bucket, the loader gently placed them in the bed of my truck, which handled the load like a champ. Price for one cubic yard of the stone I bought (which covered the 8-foot bed of my truck a bit more than one layer deep) was $75; to give you some perspective on how good of a value that price is, earlier that day, I stopped at a nursery near my house and saw a pallet of stone, which was probably less than I bought, and the nursery wanted around $225. With a truck full of rocks, I was able to complete borders on two beds I had already started, and finish four additional beds, with plenty left over! In a couple of hours, I was able to accomplish what would have taken me months by trying to gather free rocks. Plus, the rocks have a nice variety of textures, colors and shapes. As I was placing the rocks around my landscape beds, several people walking or driving by my house complemented me on how nice it looked. Although I was exhausted at the end of the day, I enjoyed my first trip to Diversified Services. The owner and I had a good conversation, as we both have a background in construction; he told me he used to run an excavation business, digging foundations for many new houses, but gave that up as running his rock and gravel supply yard became more enjoyable and profitable. I found him to be very down-to-earth and helpful. The yardman was cool, too. Besides the landscape beds, I have other projects in the future that will need rocks, including a wishing well and a small waterfall, and look forward to being a repeat customer!

My experience with Sodco was fantastic From start to finish. Chuck Forsythe was the project manager…read moreI dealt with that was extremely professional and honest. Had various quotes done for a large over 5,000 sq ft of grass to install after a pool project. He was spot on with how much grass I needed and there was no waste. His crew came when they said they would and even fit me in on a time crunch to get the project done before a graduation party. He was on site for the project install and even came back himself to fix one little area he didn't like. I am extremely pleased with the way the project came out . My grass project looks amazing so much so that I need to now install the rest of the yard to match this beautiful black beauty grass . I highly recommend using Sodco for you grass needs and ask for Chuck Forsythe ,he is a great project manager , extremely professional and really cares about his customers .

I shouldn't even give them 1 star. Unprofessional, and unorganized. I placed an order one week…read moreprior to delivery and install. Received a worst case scenario cost of 13-15 cents. They "from what I thought" scheduled it on the board for a wed. Monday I received a call from from the landscaper who works in the office by accident so I said "since I have you on the phone whats going on, I have not heard from anyone?" She "Alicia" said oh I don't know I don't work with installs." Okay, so I called the office and the two woman who work there had no clue what I was talking about. Then proceeded to tell me there was miscommunication on my end and maybe I called a different company. Seriously! There are two companies for sod in RI. So they blame this on me?? Then they quoted me a much high price for install probably because the contractor I spoke to charged them more for "my miscommunication." I asked to speak with the owner who then called me and canceled the order because apparently it was my fault. I am glad they have enough business to cancel orders. Give me the price you quoted and lay the sod. That's all I wanted and they couldn't do that. Unprofessional and horrible customer service. I would have been happy if they remedied the situation and worked with me on the price they originally quoted. Find another company.

Great experience at the Warwick Ave Garden Center! Joe D. was extremely helpful and knowledgeable…read more(you can tell his horticulture background really makes a difference). As first-time homeowners, we had no idea what to plant, especially with the colder April/May weather. Joe walked us through everything and made the process feel easy and not so overwhelming. We feel so much more confident now. We're grateful for his help and will definitely be back. Bonus: they have an adorable kids' playhouse with garden tools and chalkboard walls that kept our twin 4-year-olds entertained the entire time (over an hour!). That made such a difference. Thank you Joe!

Stay away!! horrible company. I hired them for landscaping project and sprinkler installation…read more First, they planted over 50 trees and plants in the middle of a heatwave BEFORE the sprinkler system was installed! (also they planted evergreen trees in wrong place and had to dig them up and place in appropriate areas) I spent an entire weekend at walmart buying all the hoses they had trying to keep the newly planted trees and shrubs watered!!!! I lost two evergreen trees and several shrubs. The sprinkler system wasn't installed until 5 days following planting. THEN, the sprinkler system banged constantly with water spewing everwhere at the connection. To this day it continues to bang and I had to hire a sprinkler install professional to fix the total MESS these morons created. Oh, also I was told to go to Yardworks and pick out new trees to replace the ones loss due to their stupidity... which I did. Guess what? they never replaced the dead trees or even contacted me back after several calls. STAY AWAY!! They are completely incompetent!! I just don't want anyone to go the same nightmare.
