    Fried Pickles*

We arrived for brunch and everything was really good. We were asked if we had reservations, luckily we didn't need them for the lunch, rush, but I would recommend reservations. We loved our server Matyas he was patient and kind and very helpful. I ordered the farmhouse breakfast and grits, which was the cream cheesiest grits I've had in a very long time. I requested sage plant based sausage, eggs scrambled hard, The grits didn't include goat cheese. I also had a biscuit. My one issue with the biscuit was I wasn't given anything to put on the biscuit. I wish I had been given some jam or jelly or butter, it was still really good though. I ordered an ice dirty chai, which had a little bit of a spicy kick to it and I loved it. I also enjoyed a margarita and water. My friend ordered fried pickles. They were pretty good. They are best eaten hot.

Our server, Savannah, was very nice and knowledgeable. She did a good job. The my were not very busy when we visited it's a cool spot. Decent size. Cool vibes. I got the half bird bone in chicken with fried okra and green beans. My daughter got chicken and waffles. We had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. The grits and sauce with the tomatoes was good. Best part of the meal. My chicken... no wait I'll go from bottom to top. Green beans had bacon in them with no hint of bacon flavor. I wouldn't recommend. The fried okra was ok. Not real flavorful but crunchy which I liked. My chicken was mid. Very mid. I wasn't pleased. I got a sweet spiced sauce with the meal and that good on the chicken but without it, it's a no for me. My daughter said her chicken and waffles was just ok. Over all we probably wouldn't come back here. It was horrible but the food wasn't very tasty.

Wow! I can't believe I've let this review fall by the wayside. So, I've been here a few times, from the time they first opened to a few times afterwards. I love the aesthetics. It's a pretty open space, and you can pretty much find a seat and make reservations online if need be. The staff seems to be pretty pleasant and kind throughout my visits. I came to share about my most recent experience, which was a lunchtime visit. We were seated right away. I ordered the chicken and gravy with a side of grits with shredded cheese and brussel sprouts. The chicken was delicious, and actually I got the gravy on the side, but it was pretty good as well. It had some flavor. The grits were really good. In addition to the shredded cheese, the grits come with goat cheese. It was a great creamy cheesy addition. The brussel sprouts are literally amazing. They are perfectly cooked and flavorful as well. The entire meal was on point.

Really enjoyed my food Tupelo honey. The dusted fried chicken had great flavor, the goat cheese grits were delicious, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved their take on cheese grits. The goat cheese added a creaminess and flavor that was unique. The chicken was nice and crispy too. Definitely look forward to coming back here. Staff was friendly and it's in a trendy upcoming area that I'm sure will be buzzing more once the weather warms up. I would love to try another dish!

The place is gorgeous and the servers are nice. We sat out on the patio with our dogs. They offered to bring out water bowls for both, which was really nice. Shrimp and grits, tasty, not bland, perfect basically. Okra, fresh, crunchy, delicious Biscuits for a cause, yummy, soft, blueberry jam a bit watery, butter wasn't soft Sweet potato pancakes, delicious, candied walnuts, bacon high quality, very tasty

Super cute place. The staff told me everyone in the entire area staff and customers have to pay for parking so that was a hassle but I did find a spot. The menu is great. I had the cheese and soup and a healthy shot. It was all wonderful. My server was super kind and attentive. Reasonably priced for the surrounding location for diner. I would eat here again. They need to figure out a better parking solution but the restaurant itself is really cute and the menu is interesting.

Such a cute, lively place for brunch. The interior is beautiful, with lots of seating for guests. They also offer outdoor seating. The staff were amazing and friendly. Our server was so kind and informative about their menu. You have to try the biscuits!! They're so good and the jelly they come with is phenomenal. The sweet and spicy chicken and waffles looked and tasted amazing. Overall this place was a hit! I would only recommend they add an espresso machine

When we first arrived, we were greeted by two very friendly hosts. Once our party of 13 arrived Natalie got right to work with taking our orders. She was an amazing server. She was very attentive and efficient. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. We had fried green tomatoes, biscuits, and fried okra for our appetizers. Everything was really tasty and fresh. The peach and blueberry preserves with the biscuits were absolutely amazing. For my entrée, I had the breakfast platter, with waffles, bacon, eggs, and potatoes. It was delicious! My waffles were prepared perfectly. They were nice and fluffy. I especially loved the Peach Don't Kill My Vibe cocktail! It's so refreshing! All in all a great visit!

The Wild Game Tasting Board was the star of the table perfect for sharing and trying something a little different. We also ordered the gator bites (a must-try!) and finished things off with cheesecake for dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending. Good service, Amazing Food. The chef really goes above and beyond! This is the perfect spot if you're looking to switch things up from your usual dinner routine and try something a little wild.

Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.

It delivered on smokiness to the point of entertaining me too! My glass of rose was great, a normal choice for me. The gumbo had excellent flavor and the small whole bird on top was such an interesting presentation. The crispy skin had great flavor as did the chicken itself, complemented the creole flavor of the gumbo perfectly. I hate to admit that the tomato broth, dare I say gravy, kind of stole the flavor show. We both loved it. I nearly forgot I had grilled bread to accompany it as I was spooning up mussels and the delightfully flavorful tomato broth. Service was totally on point until the very end, when getting our check was a bit slow. We had a new server respond to our rescue though, and they did discount our check a bit, which was more than we were expecting. The seating arrangement for us ended up being at a communal long dining table, not a private booth. It wasn't our first date, and we loved being in the middle of the room and watching all of the dishes and drinks flow by. The view of the booth tables by the window would also make for a great view when the street is busy with ample people watching. Great experience, would definitely recommend. Take note, they do not take reservations so either come early or allow time to wait.
