I recently visited Tupelo Honey and unfortunately did not have a good experience. Our food was initially taken to the wrong table, which caused a significant delay in us receiving our meals. While they attempted to make it right, the situation was already frustrating due to the wait. On top of that, the receipt showed we were charged for two farmhouse breakfast platters and two Asheville hot chicken & ranch melts, even though we only ordered one of each. The extra items should have never been on the bill in the first place, and instead of correcting it properly, the receipt reflects confusing adjustments that make it hard to clearly see what was actually charged. Between the delay, order mix-up, and lack of clarity with the billing, the overall experience fell short. Definitely recommend double-checking your receipt before leaving. read more

Took advantage of the free 2 hour parking in the parking garage nearby. Tupelo has such a cute vibe, very cozy and warm inside. The host was welcoming and polite. I requested sage plant based sausage, eggs scrambled hard, The grits didn't include goat cheese. I also had a biscuit. My one issue with the biscuit was I wasn't given anything to put on the biscuit. I wish I had been given some jam or jelly or butter, it was still really good though. I ordered an ice dirty chai, which had a little bit of a spicy kick to it and I loved it. It's a pretty open space, and you can pretty much find a seat and make reservations online if need be. The staff seems to be pretty pleasant and kind throughout my visits. I came to share about my most recent experience, which was a lunchtime visit. We were seated right away. I ordered the chicken and gravy with a side of grits with shredded cheese and brussel sprouts. The chicken was delicious, and actually I got the gravy on the side, but it was pretty good as well. It had some flavor. The grits were really good. In addition to the shredded cheese, the grits come with goat cheese. It was a great creamy cheesy addition. The brussel sprouts are literally amazing. They are perfectly cooked and flavorful as well. Best part of the meal. My chicken... no wait I'll go from bottom to top. Green beans had bacon in them with no hint of bacon flavor. I wouldn't recommend. The fried okra was ok. Not real flavorful but crunchy which I liked. My chicken was mid. Very mid. I wasn't pleased. I got a sweet spiced sauce with the meal and that good on the chicken but without it, it's a no for me. Really enjoyed my food Tupelo honey. The dusted fried chicken had great flavor, the goat cheese grits were delicious, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I loved their take on cheese grits. The goat cheese added a creaminess and flavor that was unique. The chicken was nice and crispy too. Definitely look forward to coming back here. Met a friend there for lunch yesterday and had a very good experience. I had one of the featured spring salads with salmon (as well as a side of fried okra), and my friend had a chicken sandwich. Both were great: well prepared, tasty, fresh ingredients, etc.. JJ was our server, and she was excellent -- friendly, attentive, anticipated our needs and took care of refills before we needed to ask for them, etc. It's a beautiful space with lots of natural light and attractive decor. The sriracha chicken and waffles was a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. The chicken breast was most and the waffle was fluffy and fresh. I also had the fried green tomatoes. Panko-crusted fried green tomatoes over creamy stone-ground goat cheese grits and red pepper coulis, topped with fresh basil. One slice was firmer than I'd like but they are green tomatoes so they aren't normally soft. My son and sister have the chicken BLT and fries. My son raved about his sandwich. He took it to go and even later he said it was an awesome sandwich. Super cute place. The staff told me everyone in the entire area staff and customers have to pay for parking so that was a hassle but I did find a spot. The menu is great. She was friendly and kind, but not apologetic for the delay. Sadly they were out of meatloaf which is what two people in our party were hoping to order. No biggie, plenty of options. Our orders included:side salad (hold the onions!), smothered chicken, steak, kid's burger, fries, mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, biscuits. Our food was good and everyone seemed pleased. The entire staff for that matter was extremely kind and welcoming from the second we walked in the door. The food was amazing! Things are cooked to order and you can tell! I had the blackened mahi mahi with the creole butter and it was cooked perfectly. Mahi Mahi is tricky as it has a tendency to dry out and this one was cooked expertly. The brussels were cooked perfectly and were dusted with some amazing seasoning. The collards were good and smokey! I'm a sucker for pecan pie and whenever I see it on a menu I absolutely must get it. This definitely hit the mark! This place is definitely versatile. Had an enjoyable lunch at this new TH location. We were seated in time with our reservation and the hostesses were friendly. The waiting area is only one small bench, so that isn't the best for such a busy brunch spot. Our waitress was also great. She was attentive and quick with whatever we needed. I ordered the chicken tenders and they were very good. They were very tender and still juicy. They came with a flight of 3 sauces. I highly recommend the firecracker sauce. Portions were very good. As a side I got the crispy potatoes. Those, I disliked. Too much skin and too much crunch. There wasn't a lot of potato worth eating. I also ordered a blueberry lemon mimosa. That was delicious. The place was busy and packed but overall food came out quickly. Lots of families with kids and the hustle and bustle of noise. The biscuits fell apart when cut but who cares. We made a reservation for 12:15, walked in, and were told we'd need to wait until the 12pm reservations were seated. There is no waiting room and the staff have no plan to get folks seated on time. This is the second time we've had issues getting seated at this location. Either seat folks on time or don't offer reservations. When we finally were told our table was ready, it was 25 minutes after our reservation. Decided to come back for lunch here since I truly enjoyed the Yelp event that I came to and then they also sent me an $20 off coupon a 40 for my birthday. Upon entry service was great we were greeted properly and taken into a table, fried tomatoes, sweet potato biscuits, I attempted to order chicken salad off the lunch menu but they were out so I said hope for a cup of lime chicken soup and we also got a salad. Our friends ordered a chicken sandwich and also a half avocado melt and Chicken Poblano soup along with a side of Brussel sprouts. My chicken sandwich was excellent. The ambiance was crisp and open. The use of light blue paint against dark green walls gave the decor applause. A+ on ambiance. We had a cute young waiter who impressed us long before he told us it was his first night. It was impressive that he removed used side plates and paper straw covers. I love a clean table in a restaurant. He did great. A+ on service except: please do not ask if we want a "To-Go" box until we are finished eating or declined dessert. I was not impressed with the wine list. The only Sauvignon Blanc was from New Zealand, and it tends to be grapefruity. He got a sample, and it wasn't too bad. But then a shocker: in the middle of that wonderful restoration in downtown Columbia are small signs high up on attractive black light poles; they are hardly readable. We never saw them while admiring the great new upscale neighborhood that redeems downtown Columbia. Then we got to our car and saw an orange paper on the windshield. Hmmm! What's that? A $20 parking ticket. Are you serious? My husband went sky gazing and found the sign with a QR code to enter and pay to park. So, Columbia builds an attractive neighborhood and surprises you after dinner with a $20 gift to them for the privilege of eating in a great restaurant! Tupelo Honey: invite us back to see a nice eye-level sign on your door reminding patrons to figure out how to QR CODE park. I would hope we could return, but my husband will never figure out how to navigate the process.
