Traveling from California, came to Kentucky to see the Ark and went to a convention. Stopped at Turfway Park racing and Casino. The casino was very generous with my husband. It's a smaller Casino with up-to-date and new slot machines. They have horse racing, which is super fun, you can watch it in person or on the big screen tv's in the Casino. Love the space, and the cashier was very helpful when issuing my player card and explaining the terms. Unfortunately, the games and slots felt extremely difficult to win on. I went through $50 faster than at any other casino I've visited. Not sure if that's by design, but it was disappointing. Came in from out of town for the Derby party. It was advertised as a family friendly event with a $10 cover charge. We did not have any kids, but there were plenty of kids there and there was nothing for them to do. There was a pitiful concession stand that ran out of food and no one seemed to know what to do. It was held inside and there wasn't anywhere for people to sit. I have no idea what the cover charge was for as there was wasn't anything offered. Located in Northern Kentucky across the river from Cincinnatti. Horse racing was closed for the season but the casino was open. Very clean, not as big as Vegas casinos or the California tribal casinos the main casino floor is non- smoking but they have a smoking "patio" which has the same machines as the main casino. Great drink service, just push a button on your machine and a server is there very quickly. One large bar in the center of the main casino, and I saw a pizzeria. Jefferson Starship/Night Ranger concert. There was no organization regarding the meet n greet. They would move us to one line then move us again. Not one staff member knew what they were doing. It was so unorganized and we stood in line forever. Was not a pleasant experience. The concert was good. The prices of drinks are way overpriced. A High Noon is $10 and a bottle of water $5. Let me start by saying the original Turfway needed to be restored but what in the world did they do to it. We went to first night of horse racing and it was utter chaos. Took about an hour to get a drink. You couldn't see the horse races in the event center we were all stuffed into to. If you left the event center you couldn't get back in unless someone left. We had friends that bought a seat and they couldn't even get a glass of water. I saw two elderly gentlemen using walkers. They had no place to sit. Horrible We use to go to Turfway twice a month. You know I just like this place. It's relaxing, entertaining and fun all at once. I always enjoy my time here. The service is great, the newly renovated spaces are clean and attractive and the bar menu offers just enough variety. From their appetizers to their impossible burger I'm satisfied. I had not been to Turfway since they scraped the building and rebuilt, what an improvement! The old building was absolutely gross, and this is a huge upgrade. We ate in the event center, which is table service dining. We had the pulled pork entree and the pork chop. Some entrees come with sides, others don't, which is a little odd. My pork chop was decent, a little dry. I added the mac and cheese, it was quite tasty. We also had the boomin' shrimp appetizer, it was spicy and pretty good. Service was efficient, one mix up as to what someone ordered. The casino is really nice, with a sports bar and pizza place inside. Sadly, it seems that horse racing is second fiddle to the casino. While you can go outside and watch the ponies run, I didn't see the outdoor grandstands of old (but totally possible I missed them). All in all, great upgrade and fun place to spend an afternoon or evening. read more

I was so excited for the brand new Turfway since the old version was so smoky. But what a bummer. We went on opening race weekend. The setup is a (not big enough) ballroom of reserved table seating through opentable.com, the other half is a few dozen tables of open seating that filled up right away. No good track viewing. It was way too warm inside with so many people, so our group went outside to the track and stood the whole time. Good thing it was a sunny December day. Lines for the bar took forever. Limited staff were doing the best they could. The slots area is huge. They made it the main focus and made the horse racing an afterthought. The old Turfway was gross but a fun experience if you could get past the smoke. RIP. I miss the annual Adidas tent sale in the parking lot too :( read more

Sarah Evan's Christmas was awesome. The first event in the new event center I hear. We enjoyed the show and also easy beverage service right near the seats. Entering the venue was a bit confusing I have to say, but once we figured out it was it a different part of the facility, all was well. I will also add that I never did see a horse race track. I think this place is breaking a law by advertising as if they take care of their customers, especially loyal every day type customers don't even get a kind greeting when entering, ever! I tried an experiment, I went to this facility i. Florence ky 30 out of 45 days, most days I went with 50 bucks. Sometimes 20, mostly I go with out 100 dollars, I know I have lost a minimum of 1000 bucks in the 30 days, im upset again so haven't researched my notes at home yet to give an exact amount lost but I kid you not, out of thirty days physically showing up and actively playing their trash slots I have never had any machine pay me more than 78 dollars at any one play or any one visit. I dare sat and continued playing the 78 dollars and quickly payed it directly back to the casino / gaming black bla bla. It's almost impossible for a person to be thay unlucky 30 days out of 30 days gambling without a single payout of more than.78 bucks with that only coming to me one time, I feel ripped off but satisfied for figuring this joke of a place out and only losing a grand , ill keep crossing the bridge and playing tables and if I want to play a slot I bet that if I put in 1000 bucks in any slot at hard rock I will earn back much more than just one lowsey 78 dollar tease of a so called jackpot or win , way more than one easily payout like that. This place is horrible! 2022 I acquired over 240,000 points at Newport gaming. To put that in perspective I put over a million dollars in and out of the machines. They took care of me like a king. Unfortunately I needed to take a break so I did a self ban for 1 year. Well needed! April 4th 2023 I unbanned myself and by June was a black card (40,000) points by September I earned over 100,000 points. Let me tell you something turfway racing and gaming was horrible customer service! Not by the slot attendants nor the security or the bartenders but by the host and the upper management! They claimed that I couldn't earn free play like I did before 1,000$ to every 10,000 points because I banned myself in the past and it's unsafe to intice me! They also claimed I wasn't aloud to have a host because of the same reason! It's real funny that every time I would hit jackpots Shannon the host would come talk with me and be best friends! She would even offer us concert tickets and bring us to bourbon tastings. But noooo free play cause it was too soon? I hit a jackpot and lost my id so they wouldn't pay me. So I went to the dmv and got a paper I'd and they still would take it to pay me the 5800$ jackpot. But that weekend they had a 100,000 drawing and guess what they text me saying if I came for the drawing they would pay me out. What kind of bogus crap is that? I bought tickets to see Joan Jett for my husbands BDay. There were 4 of us! We spent 1000.00 for drink, food and the concert! JOAN JETT ONLY PLAYED 1 HOUR! Total BS All folding chairs, so if you wasn't in the first couple rows you couldn't see! We had to stand our tickets alone were 250.00 for 2 seats! Shame on Turfway Park And Joan Jett! This establishment was not prepared whatsoever for the crowd that they would bring in on their opening weekend and for a dollar beer night. The staff that I did see working was fantastic and kind, but there's no reason that a place at maximum capacity (and more) shouldn't have more beer stands or more people working in their food concession areas. I feel bad for the staff as they were working their tails off in a situation that was out of their control. Not fair for them or the customers. Not worth a visit for horse racing. Just a big room with folding tables. Has all the ambiance of a bingo hall. No visibility of track unless you have one of 30 seats along the window. You can go outside in the cold where about a dozen metal benches are there to greet you. They're just waiting to close it so casino can take over. read more

If I could rate zero stars, it wouldn't be low enough. We came here to celebrate a 21st birthday, and after calling to ask if the paper ID would be good enough to get her in, and being told YES, not to mention also having a passport AND birth certificate with us, the birthday girl was denied entry. Not only was she denied but also the "manager" (bald headed, heavy set guy) was quite rude to our entire party (all older adults) and advised us he was protecting his liquor license since it was "private property". Not sure how that makes sense but whatever. None the less we drove a few miles down the road to Hollywood and had absolutely no issue getting into to the casino, or being served alcohol. New Turfway Park is very disappointing if you like horse racing. It's 95% casino and 5% track. One large ballroom to overlook track! No easy way to walk in and out to watch a live race. They say there will be outside stands when live racing starts in December. Sitting outside in December and January is usually not very pleasant. The simulcast room is small, with average tv screens. You get a better look and experience at home on your big screen watching TVG and you would be more comfortable. I will give it a try in December but Im not expecting much. They made it a CASINO, and has the horse racing as a side. SAD!!! read more
