10 out of 10! My family loves this park. We have been canoeing here for years. It's always a great time.

I love this park. Of course over the last two years it has become much busier. Camping has always been a great choice here. Large sites, electric, water and a fire pit. For only $45 a night it's worth it. My husband lives the lake for fishing and kayaking. I prefer staying at the campsite reading a good book. We both get to enjoy what we love. Campsites are also pet friendly

I love Turkey Swamp Park. Great destination for a weekend camping trip with family. Park itself is beautiful - lots of hiking trails, stunning lake. Activities are plentiful - great playgrounds for kids, boating with row-boats, kayaks, and pedal boats. Fishing is easy and they sell worms on premises. But I love the convenience and camping experience. Sites are great - broad with excellent setup -water and electric hookup, drivein for car to site, great fireplaces (they sell wood @ ranger office), tables, and excellent bathroom\shower facilities. And most importantly - camping experience is family friendly - it gets very quiet after 8 and by 9-9:30 there is no noise. No loud music. No crazy drinking. Can sleep quietly in the tent. Safe for kids and adults. Outstanding way for NYC dwellers to camp - cheap and convenient.

Turkey swamp park is a beautiful recreation area that you and your entire family will enjoy. The park supports fishing, kayaking, paddle boating, and picnic areas. If you are interested in any of these activities, check in at the main office and they will guide you completely. All fishing is allowed on the premises as long as you have a valid fishing license. The weight and size of the fish that you are able to keep is determined by the State of NJ, so be sure to check with local regulations. If you are interested in boating and paddling, they have options for rent, or you may bring your own. There are several recreational picnic areas to set up and enjoy something to eat. There are also park benches throughout the entire area if you'd like to sit and rest. There are some trails for walking and rest stops as well. This park is very beautiful and clean. The scenery is wonderful on a hot summer day, with plenty of trees for shade and rest. This is a perfect day trip to enjoy some peace and solace alone, or to bring the family for a special outdoor occasion. I have seen many families have gatherings here, and it is a beautiful way to spend time with loved ones. You will also see many different types of animals here. The fish and frogs are visible in the more shallow parts of the water on a clear day. I have also seen many different colored birds in the trees which is great for photography and sightseeing. I have also seen a family of deer and other tiny animals such as rabbit and chipmunks in the deeper areas of the park. If you would like an overall safe, clean, and fully immersive experience in nature, this is the right place to come!

Really nice starting out. This was really cool to me.

Turkey Swamp Park. Wow. I couldnt give 5 stars. Thats a big deal for me. Similar to Allaire State Park there are multiple entrances. We ended up parking on Nomoco Rd which is a trailhead for one of the handful of trails here. We started out crossing a bridge over a creek/swampy area that I enjoyed. Very cool vegetation in the waterways. After a bit, the trail became pretty much a swamp itself. Hard to not sink to your ankles in places and the brush was so thick you couldn't go around it. It was tight. I didn't mind that too much. I mean the word swamp was in the name of the trail....so it didn't upset me, it was just part of the adventure. What annoyed me, was the map seemed to be upside down and all trails except orange were blue blaze. Some trails had multiple intersections not even showing on the map. I was actually happy to find a dirt road to take me back to the car. As the evening grew, I definatley didnt want to back track through the swampy trail we came in on. It gets dark in the woods quickly and that trail was mentally exhausting. There were some other good things about the trail though. The lake was big and pretty. They had boats and paddle boats. Shelters and picnic tables with trash cans and with recycle bins! I was just very disappointed with the map, color blaze and unmarked intersections. I guess along with swamp bugs I just wasn't feeling it. Absolutely no one was around either. I'm so ready for the beach now.

Open 365 days a year from 7:00 am until dusk, Turkey Swamp Park is part of the Monmouth County Park System, and is located on approximately 2200 acres encompassing both rolling fields and woodlands. It includes a 17 acre lake where boats are seasonably available for rent, and fishing is allowed, as is ice skating, weather and conditions permitting. The park also includes 9 miles of trails, facilities for camping and archery, as well as two soccer fields that are available to rent. It is extraordinarily clean and well kept. Horseback riding is also permitted. I prefer to go on a cold winter weekday when no one else is there, which affords me the opportunity to break the rules and let my dogs wander off-leash. Though there is no hunting allowed in the park proper, if walking on the periphery, it would be easy to stray onto private property where it is. I would recommend both you and your animals wear something brightly colored should you go into the woods during one of the hunting seasons; one of the few things you can take to the bank in this life is that people are idiots, so do be careful.

Took my kids on their first camping trip here last weekend. 5 stars...would give it 10 if I could. Rangers were very polite and helpful. The camp site was clean as can be. There was so much to do as in one night and one am - I took my kids (7 and 5 year old) on a small hike, boat trip, tractor tour and fishing and that doesn't include the time well spent on the camp site. My son even caught his 1st fish ((blue gill sunny)) I will definitely be coming back.

Got a chance to explore the Alder Trail, really nice, easy to follow trail with a few side parts where you can sneak down to the water and catch a beautiful view of the lake. Has a fitness trail area with outdoor stations set up for you to participate. Very pretty scenery with ducks, turtles, frogs, and more!

Found this in yelp on our way from point Pleasant to MD. Beautiful fall lakeside walk. Dogs loved it. The park had great facilities including shady picnic areas.

It allows for all sorts of activities in a compact 71 acre space. This is also a great spot to view the fall foliage. There are 2 entrances. The main entrance is off Pond Rd. There is a side entrance off Robertsville Rd but that parking lot can accommodate only about half a dozen cars. A typical walk is a round trip from between the 2 entrances and you'll rack up about 2 miles. There is an excursion trail around the outside boundaries of the park beginning at the Robertsville entrance. With that you can make up 3 miles which was what I used to do when I was training for the varsity cross-country team. The pond is good for boating and fishing and is stocked with trout every year. The playground is right by the pond and is a great photo spot for your kids. There is a stage and a nice-sized pavilion in front of it. Perfect for a summer concert or play. There are benches and picnic tables throughout. In my most recent visit (Oct'21) I was pleasantly surprised to find that they've added a large number of brand new benches and picnic tables made with recycled material. Also, the parking lot at the main entrance has been redone and doubled the capacity. For these surprises I'm bumping the rating up to 5 stars. PS. If you're into mountain biking, I'll let you in on a local secret. There is a technical course adjacent to the southeast side of the park and you can access it at the end of Brookwood Dr.

There is a little playground too but this is probably the worst maintained area of the park. There are no bathrooms here but there are porta potties. Every time I've been here when it's warm the ice cream truck has come in here. Other than that there are no concession stands. Just pack a lunch and enjoy at one of the picnic tables.

They seem to have themed playgrounds so that if you are meeting other parents, just say, "we'll convene at the blue or pirate ship playground" and everyone will find it. They have a fenced in skateboard ramps for tweens and up which I personally think is a fabulous idea. The ramps are spaced and curved only for skateboards. Longboards should definitely stay only on the paved paths where they belong. Speaking of trails, their trails are mixed between paved and dirt. You can safely go on a light walking trail here either solo or as you are walking your dogs. They also provide a few stations with plastic bags for the owners to clean up after their dogs. They also have basketball courts, dog runs, picnic areas, a spray ground on hot summer's days and my favorite, a sports field with obstacle courses. Perfect for the bigger kids with lots of energy and to build coordination. I went in March where things are just somewhat starting to bloom. I can only imagine the splendor in late June where everything will be fully bloomed and the grass will be lush. I look forward to revisiting this park, especially when it's Freehold Township Day where there will be plenty of fireworks, rides and the Vets car show!

Instead, I saw a spray ground (water-enhanced playground) which was to open in mid-May but given our current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak, this is doubtful for mid-May 2020 due to the pandemic restrictions. Normally, it would open mid-May through early September. I would imagine the busiest time to be there with kids is during the height of summer because summer camps are held there by the Monmouth County Park System and Challenged Youth Sports from Middletown.

As you walk along the few paths you see people out for their daily jog, power walking, biking or just leisurely strolling with their dogs. (on a leash of course). Mom groups with baby strollers, kids on nature walks with their school, its seriously just a wonderful place you can visit for free.
