Love the feel of being "surrounded" by the jungle but not too far from the city :) We love going on camping but still need our daily showers and bathrooms; and Mountainview Campground provided both for us. I will not add much to what another yelper (A. Jordan R.) already wrote so eloquently. The only difference is that there were no chickens when we went---only goats and sheep. Maybe, we went in late October and chickens were moved elsewhere. Lot of things to do nearby, including going to Frenchtown (charming downtown by the river), hiking, farms, and Ringing Rock park. Tohickon valley park and Ralph Stover park are 30 min away. Had a great time with the family. We liked all the tall trees, creating a nice rustic feeling (in contrast to another camp we went this time last year---that camp was good, but did not have as many trees). read more

Absolutely loved our stay here! The owner was so nice and accommodating--he upgraded us to a larger site in a more secluded location when he had a last-minute cancellation. We loved feeding crackers to his sheep and it was nice seeing all the families with their dogs enjoying the sunny weather. The location of the campground was great as well--it felt secluded, but it was close enough to other towns that we could easily drive over to a Target or Walmart to pick up some supplies that we forgot. The only negative was that there was no water pump near our site, so we ended up having to use our drinking water to wash dishes. read more

This place is wonderful. Tim and his wife Magda are the best. It was exactly what my husband and I wanted. Quiet, rustic, family friendly and gorgeous. We went tent camping in 2019 and saw a For Sale sign for a trailer. Went to go look at it just for fun and we were hooked . Bought it the next day and became seasonal campers. Last year was our first full year and we couldn't have been happier. We have had family gatherings and friends to visit and they have loved it! There are farm animals , trails , a community garden and wonderful people from all walks of life here. It is our personal patch of paradise every weekend! We are always sad to leave on Sundays but remember Friday is only 5 sleeps away ! Highly recommend to anyone who loves the outdoors. read more

Came up here sort of on a whim one day after work. Only planned on staying one night, ended up staying three. Here is what there is to like about Mountainview... - Facilities are clean and well stocked (bathrooms, showers, etc.) Showers are also free, meaning you don't need to remember to stock up on quarters. - Campgrounds and campsites are very well maintained - Campsites are both gigantic and private. And I mean GIGANTIC. Ours had two giant fire pits and easily accommodated two cars. - Fire pits are stone rings, which really added a rustic touch to the site. Not a metal ring, but a actual stones. Really nice touch. - Prices are extremely reasonable. It costs less to camp here than in a state park - Camp store is perfect. They sell fresh eggs from the chickens right on the grounds, ice, and firewood. No candy, cookies, soda, or fidget spinners. Eggs, ice, and wood. - Owners and staff are awesome! Very accommodating. Gave us recommendations on stuff to do in the area. Tim and his wife are great. - Very quiet after 10pm. No riffraff. No frat parties or drunks on golf carts. Just families, small groups, and couples (We had two couples) - Tent sites have electric and water. I managed to get a whole bunch of work done without skipping a beat. I probably could have stayed here another week without an issue. - Close to local farms, Frenchtown and Flemington. We found ourselves at a county fair on a farm, a beery brewery, in rustic towns, and then cooking up all kinds of stuff at night (including eggs we bought on site). The surrounding area is beautiful. There are all kinds of cool things to do along the Delaware River - Fun people. We started howling at the moon, and then everyone did. - There is a giant open field that was perfect for stargazing. We watched the meteor shower and it was unbelievable. - Lots of birds if you're into birdwatching This is exactly the campground I was looking for. I'm not interested in an arcade, a camp store with candy and cookies, or a waterslide. I'm just looking for a slice of nature where I can still do work if need be. All in all, the best private campground I've stayed at. read more

Mountainview Campground - The campsites are gigantic - Campgrounds Near Me - Milford, New Jersey

I've camped all over upstate NY and this place is dirt cheap and so close to frenchtown and other surrounding areas. They have many area's to chose from with water and electricity and such a reasonable price. Bathrooms are bright, SUPER clean, and no cost for showers. Then the owners are AMAZING. They also have a watering whole for swimming, not gonna lie I haven't been here when it was clean and swim-able but but to each there own. I mean where I was a kid and my pool was turning green and my mom yelled at me for going swimming in the pool I never understood it....until now. Frenchtown is 15 minutes away GREAT TOWN and you can Tube or Canoe the Delaware River too. I will be back sooner rather than later! I lover Camping and I love what they have to offer and their price. read more

He made my friends and I feel so welcome, didn't hesitate to give us any advice or help since we were first time campers and both the campsite and bathhouses are so clean. The area is so beautiful to hike through and the town around the camp is also very friendly. SO excited to come back. read more

This is not a "diamond in the rough" or "jewel" campground, as other reviewers have stated. First, DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT follow GPS directions to the campground, especially if you are pulling a camper! You will travel on gravel roads with hairpin turns up/down very rough roads! Directions are not provided on their website, so call for directions. This is a very, very basic campground for camper/trailer campers. While a nice playground is located in a large field, there are no other amenities. The bathhouses are extremely outdated and we refused to use them. Although we reserved a site for 5 nights, we checked out after only one night and no refund was available. read more

We went on our first "tent"camping trip in July as a family of 3 and enjoyed ourselves. Because of our great experience we decided to host my son's 16th birthday in September with family. I should have seen the red flags, but kept on focusing on the positive instead of the negative. Doug was great to work with although every-time I spoke to him the requirements changed. Long story short, I had to change the original date (After invites were sent to our guests), and pay for six sites to accommodate my guests (we only used two sites). I rented the entire field! Doug contacted me throughout the week to inform me they had a stressful Labor Day weekend and the owner was on a rampage. I assured him my crowd was not rowdy and they would not have to worry. Majority did not even staying overnight. Tim, the owner, greeted us the day of the event, and kicked us out the same evening! He was pleasant when we arrived, but his attitude changed later on. At 9:45 pm he approached the minors to ask them not to laugh. (Seriously!) My husband got disturbed as he directly approached the minors instead of us. Why are you speaking to our children (4) when you should be advising the host? He walked right past us! We asked him to please speak to us directly instead of speaking to minors. There were 4 boys, and 4 adults including us. The kids were around a bonfire. I rented 6 sites which was to accommodate 12 adults and 12 kids. I had 1/3 of my total allowance. 4 adults and 4 teens (2-13 yr olds, 1-16 yr old and 1 -17 yr old). He came around again at midnight to advise us we were being too loud. I found that odd since we were about 500 yards from the closest occupied campsite. When questioned if he received a complaint he answered no. (What!) so why are you asking us to keep it down? We haven't disturbed anyone, we didn't even have the music on since our first encounter at 9:45pm to avoid any issues as Doug had informed us that you, Tim, were in a rampage (Literally his words). Once he responded that we were indeed not being loud we all lost it. We asked why he was picking on us and he had no answer. We informed him we were going to continue our stories around the bonfire and he said no, I will be calling the cops to escort you out. (What?) why are you getting the cops involved? You want us to leave, we'll leave, but you are refunding my money for all 6 sites. He agreed and at 1am we were on the road about 1 hour away from home. We were beyond exhausted and disappointed. Such a memorable milestone turned sour due to Tim. read more

Beautiful, quiet, clean, and friendly campground. We found this gem last summer and fell in love with it. The owners are so nice, the campsites are large, and there's plenty of land to explore. Since finding this campground, we found a few more spots in Milford and just adore this area as a whole. Site 60 is our favorite but 83 and 39 are also extremely nice. They have a little playground area as well and the bathrooms are always cleaned and stocked. read more

If you want quiet, relaxing, and peaceful this is it. Totally an enjoyable time. No troublemakers. Owners are friendly and accommodating. It's what was and still is what a great campground used to be before corporate America decided to get their hands involved in some of the larger and more popular places. Fabulous place to camp!! My husband and I love this place. We camped in our tent. The grounds are clean and well taken care of. The bathrooms and showers are clean. Very quiet and peaceful grounds. Lots of shade and space. I got full service on my phone and hotspot. You don't feel on top of the next person which is nice. We felt very safe and welcomed. The owners are very nice and friendly. They answered all my questions, let us know what's in the area and had great stories. You can really tell they love what they do and really care about the land and wildlife. I was very impressed. We got to feed the ducks at the duck pond and even saw baby turkeys they saved -so sweet. It's nice for anyone who wants to relax and enjoy nature. I plan on coming back soon :) read more

Looked up reviews and most everyone have positive reviews. I based my decision on that and speaking with Tim the owner. Upon arriving at 6:45 PM (near dark) I spotted a small building which was the office. They were busy on a Friday night. My site was not to far away and was pull thru. My site was barley big enough for me to open my slides on my th wheel. It was not level, and trees were hitting my camper. After about 45 minutes of trying to level and unhook from my truck, I was frustrated. (Not a Happy camper) As I was unwinding with a beer, i heard this loud bang on my roof followed by several more. it was from the low hanging Hickory tree dropping its nuts all night long. same thing in the morning this time it was the Squirrels knocking them down. Had no phone or internet service or cable, however I was able to pull in over the air TV through my antenna. upon leaving I had to go up on my roof to sweep the nut off to close my slid outs, that when i found my antenna lodged in the electric wires. I got them out ( safety hazard) closed it up, dumped and left for home 2 .5 hrs. Upon arriving I did a roof inspection on my camper. There I found vent cap missing cracked dome, and rubber roof scraped from trees. It were not for Tim and how nice he was this place would have got a .5 star. Mountianview has great potential. Electric has been upgraded, is in a great location. read more

4.5 stars! This place was very nice. Bathrooms were very clean and the owner was very accommodating when we asked to switch sites. The only reason I take the .5 star was because of the terrain to the bathroom. It is a bit too rugged, would be better if the larger rocks were raked out, or a few pavers put down. (I know, it's camping but we had small children). Bring a long extension cord for electricity! We will be back! read more

I do not recommend this camp to anyone. Tim, the owner of this camp is prejudiced and very offensive. As soon as we arrived to the camp, he began to make comments about my nationality and the issues he had with people of my nationality in the past. He didn't say it directly, but by his facial expressions and tone of voice said it all - we were not welcome there. And it only got worse after that. One night, the owner came up to us and said that it was after 10pm and we were being too loud. He didn't say it nicely, he sounded very hostile, so we got into a bit of an argument with him. He said that he was going to check back on us again and we better only "whisper". Being that we observed that he was constantly spying on us from day one, my friend finally asked him: "so are you going to stand behind a tree and watch us now?", to which the owner replied: "yes, I am going to stand behind a tree and play with myself!". We were stunned to hear this! He said it in the presence of women and two teenage girls from our group. It was disgusting! It was only after I told him how unprofessional he was that he apologized. Even though we didn't see any other campers in the near proximity to us, we tried to be as respectful as possible to avoid any problems, but considering that we had 14 people in our group, it was unreasonable to demand that we only "whisper" around the fire pit. There were other issues too. One day, when my friend drove a few yards up the road on his motorcycle, the owner chased him down on his quad bike and began to yell at him that he did not have a helmet on. When my friend tried to explain that he was not driving off and just wanted to check if there were bathrooms there, the owner said that he didn't believe him. Yet, the owner had zero problems with his 10 year old son driving a quad bike around the camp unsupervised (and without a helmet on) or hanging on the outside of a garbage truck in motion. We camp frequently and we never ever had any issues anywhere else. This was by far the worst camping experience for me and my friends. read more

Because I work long hours and workweeks, I cannot get away for more than 1-2 days at a time. This campground is close to home and I love it. The owners are fantastic, The grounds are kept clean and restrooms are clean, with hot water. You can choose to be in the open next to other campers, or in a more secluded spot with a bit more privacy. This place is about simplicity, you won't find cable tv......pools.....or game rooms. This campground is about relaxing and admiring the sites around you. If you have kids that need to be entertained by modern amenities, this is not the place to go. Although, I had no problem picking up strong signals on my phone and about 5 channels on my air TV in my little camper. And......you can't find better rates in the state! read more

I really like this place. The first time I scheduled here I asked for a spot with water and electric but still wanted to be as far away from other people as possible. When we arrived the old couple that run the place are the nicest people ever. Outside the house/office there is a bunch of animal skulls and remains so you're almost afraid to knock on the wrong door but DO IT YOUR IN THE RIGHT PLACE. When you expect a giant hunting man with a beard like Rip Van Winkle to answer the door a kind little old lady come out with a smile and he husband comes out and fires up his four wheeler. They laid out a map of the area and showed us what sites had water and electric. Then they showed us what sites had people on them and let us pick where we wanted to be. I can not tell you the name of our spot because I don't want anyone else requesting it. They have footballs, frisbees and other stuff you can rent for like $5 bucks and that's fair. If you don't return it $5 isn't enough to go buy a new one so don't be a d!ck and make sure it gets back to them. They also have wood bundles if your in need. The old man hops on this 4 wheeler and you follow him in your car to your spot. $12 per person per night is legit. The surrounding towns are nice and you don't have to venture far for some fresh baked goods in the morning. I will definitely be returning any chance I get. read more

Their campground offers various types of sites (field, tree line, shaded), so there is something for everyone! The campsites and bathrooms are well maintained. We will be back in 2016! read more
