The service here was disappointing. I got the "we don't serve your kind" sort of treatment here. Perhaps I should have known better before walking in? Latino queer male here - the bartender was rude, dismissive, and didn't seem to know I existed for a long time, despite sitting front and center in the bar. There were a few other patrons who came in and the greeting, treatment and reception was different, markedly. When I came and went from the bathroom things would quiet and the stares and silence would permeate the room. I regret giving them any of my money - it's surprising to have a place like this thrive smack in the middle of bustling Williamsburg. I'll tell everyone I know to avoid this place. It's one of these parts' most unassuming bars. I was looking for a turkey theme but could not find it. The bar looks like it's been around awhile, not one of the ones that have recently cropped up. It has relatively cheap beer. That comes in styrofoam cups. I ordered a Brooklyn Brewery Lager. It's $6 for a 32 ounce, which is not terrible for a craft beer. This is one of that brewery's best beers, and it's good to get it here if you don't feel like messing with the brewery and the tourists. I was confused the first time I ordered beer. I was handed a styrofoam cup. Maybe they had my order wrong and thought I wanted pop? It was right though, it was beer. They put beer in styrofoam cups. In a way, that's awesome. This is perhaps the best dive in Billville. It's cheap. It's got character. It's got characters. It's even quite festive thanks to some tasteful Christmas lights thrown up for the season. And I think I mentioned this, but it's worth saying again: it's cheap. They will hand you entirely too much alcohol for entirely too little money. And they don't care what you do after that transaction takes place (go drink in the park for all they care), because The Nest is also tolerant. So if your drunken idiot friends have already been thrown out of a restaurant for violently expressing their love for one another,* the Turkey's Nest is the only logical choice. Because they've seen worse. The decrepit pool table may sport three 12 balls, but that just means the bartender barely blinks when some asshole spills an entire beer on the felt. If an argument ensues about whose fault the spill was and a playful humping/eye-gouging occurs as a result, the rest of the crowd won't even notice. I for one am just glad that long ago they decided to serve drinks in plastic or styrofoam, which lessens the chances of broken glass/bleeding. Love the name. Nice location that's a little ways away from the craziness of Bedford Ave. It's open early and late. So of course I had a few hours to kill on a Monday afternoon so why night day drink at the Turkey's Nest? Deal. Pints of Brooklyn Lager were $6 apiece--an OK deal. I was offered a 32oz. pour in a paper cup for $12, but didn't see the point. Later on, it dawned on me that the paper cups are for when you might just step outside and walk off into the night, or hop in an Uber, sippin' on a beer in a Coke cup. I guess that's cool that they don't really give an eff, but that seems to be the general vibe of NYC--you can do whatever you want whenever you want so long as you aren't messing with anyone else's vibes. It's lit A bit grimy, but great place to socialize and watch ball. NBA all-star weekend was a blast! The drink selection is sparse, but affordable. Don't bother with the beer or liquor, just go straight for the frozen margaritas because they're surprisingly good and hella boozy. Like everything else, it comes in styrofoam cups. Great Local Dive Bar We found this local gem while bar hopping through Brooklyn. The bar is known for giant drinks and beers (32 ounces). Sadly we missed the place before the styrofoam cup ban. We talked to several locals and everyone just started buying everyone else drinks. By the time we looked up, we were drunk and it had been 3 hours. Offering drinks to go in styrofoam cups is either the best or worst idea ever. My friends and I came to Turkey's Nest as a first stop for a night out in Williamsburg. We picked up some redbull vodkas, and it all went downhill from there. We had pregamed before coming to this bar, so we were far from sober. And these large 32oz styrofoam cups contained far more vodka than redbull. And at less than $20 for 3 of them, we should have known we were in trouble. We had a few more drinks while enjoying the music and company. It was surprisingly not packed, considering it was a Saturday night and how cheap the place is. We each picked up a strong 32oz margarita before leaving. And the bartender went ahead and gave them to us with lids and straws already included. During covid I know parties should be patient, however that is not the case. From providing our IDs (the checker didn't know if he should let anyone else in and looked at the owner who eventually decided it was okay after ten whole minutes and a ridiculous amount of speculation) to ordering drinks. Their atm wasn't working and after multiple people's attempts they continued to serve parties even though many atms were out of service and patrons had to leave and go to other atms, blocks away. Upon receiving our drinks the bartender came over to us and said "alright now you need to move" (mind you we JUST got our drinks 30 seconds prior). I have been to countless places over the years and this is without a doubt the most offensive and horrible service I have ever received - from beginning to end. Period. Yes it could look fun from the outside but the service is absolute garbage and offensive by the way the staff talks to you. The Nest also wins the award for stickiest bar in Brooklyn. I've never heard of a dive that specializes in margaritas. The margarita slushy is filled to the brim, dripping off the sides, sticking to your hands like maple tree sap. It's a great deal, but it could easily contribute to hangover hell, especially if you get the Gargoyle, but don't do that. The only people that will actually enjoy the Gargoyle are your Italian friends that brag about drinking Sambuca with their family or people that think that Absinthe is "cool." Don't bring a girl here, unless you hate them or you are under the age of 24. That should be the cut off age for entering this place, until you reach the age of 50. At that time, if you are low on cash from your gambling debt and want to nurse your third divorce with a ice cold Budweiser, you may enter again. The owners of the Nest are smart. They are capitalizing on the to-go beverage market and making bank. Walking the street with a brown bag isn't obvious enough, so instead you should come to the Nest and fill up a herculean styrofoam cup with booze and hit the road. read more

If you're like me and you love both beer and the environment, you'll have to get as drunk as I do to feel good about yourself again. With a 32 oz. beer costing you 4 bucks, this won't be hard to do. Turkey's is probably one of the most bizarre places that I've been to in Brooklyn. On one side of the bar you have hipsters drinking $2.00 cans of PBR. On the other side, you have groups of old men with gray hair and walkers not even trying to hit on said hipsters. If this doesn't sound like your cup of tea, you can take your drink to-go and hang out in the Park. It's a win-win for everyone. Turkey's doesn't serve food, but they're totally cool with you bringing outside food in or getting food delivered. Plus, there's a jukebox, a pool table, dive-bar quality bathrooms, and BUCK HUNTER. Fucking legit. Once I had 1.5 cocktails and puked in the bathroom. Sometimes I have 2 cocktails and blackout. I'm pretty sure they must put roofies in the drinks.
