I flew Turkish Airlines to/from LAX to Rome for my recent TREAT YO'SELF trip to Italy, and I have to say, I was impressed. Maybe it's because we Americans are used to being charged up the wazoo for everything on US airlines, but I was so happy with the service on this airline. When I first got to LAX, though, I wasn't too sure. The desk wasn't open, even though I got there at the suggested 2-hour before flight time, and it didn't open for another 45 minutes. Very strange to be sitting on the floor of the airport in a check-in line with tons of other people. When you get on the plane, you are immediately greeted with a nice Turkish delight treat, a hot washcloth to clean up, and several beverage and meal services. And guys? The food is really good, and I do NOT like airplane food. Lots of chicken/beef options for main courses, vegetables, rice, always warm and fresh bread, and great desserts. Plus, there is free alcohol (not that I drink)! On my way out from LAX to Istanbul, I opted to upgrade to Comfort Class, a service in between Business and Economy, for $350. That got me 46 inches of legroom (SO WORTH IT), better food, and incredible pampering. I also wanted to take advantage of this service since it is being retired in March 2016. I slept like a baby for most of the way, and when I wasn't sleeping, I was enjoying their incredible in-flight TV service. I must have watched at least 3 movies that are either still in theaters or just released (Jurassic World, Inside Out, Ant Man, etc.). I flew Economy on the way home, and I will never make that mistake again. While the service was at the same level, the comfort was NOT. I am 5'11", and I am not a small girl. And the woman in front of me reclined her seat the ENTIRE 13 hours and 20 minutes it took us to fly from Istanbul to LAX. I did not sleep a wink on that flight and was physically uncomfortable to the point of nausea. NEVER AGAIN. Now for some negative press. The airline, and its crew, are fantastic. But the Turkish Airlines employees at Ataturk airport are utterly rude. Do they forget that they work in SERVICE? On both my way in and out, the employees had attitude and acted like they couldn't be bothered to answer questions. I heard comments from other passengers on my flight complaining the same. Someone needs to talk to them to get their act together, because they are doing a great disservice to the many people who work for this airline and are AMAZING. Overall, I would definitely fly this airline again, even though it stops 3 hours out of the way of where my final destination was (Rome). The ticket price I paid back in March was amazing ($890 R/T). I figured that I would get crappy service for such a cheap fare, but I was really surprised by how pleased I was! read more

Without fail, they always feed you a full meal with a Turkish delight as an amuse bouche and offer Turkish alcohol! Service is good and we flew them 4x and they left on time. And their pillow covers seem like high quality unlike their American counterparts. read more

Flew business class, it was clean and spacious. Slept well but these people need to work on their attitudes. They speak rudely and mumble under their mouths. I asked the lady for milk and she gave me 1/4 of the cup? About 2 to 3 tablespoons...Did I pay business class for this ... read more

We purchased Business Class seats for an extended itinerary from Los Angeles to destinations in the Middle East and Europe. Every one of the five flight times were significantly changed and two flights cancelled. Rebooking cancelled flights had us flying after midnight and going in opposite directions from our destination. One flight was re-booked at economy, even though we paid for Business, and had to pay a $400 change fee! Neither the on-line, telephone or Turkish Airlines airport ground personnel in any airport would help us, including the Business Class Customer Service counter in Istanbul. We were simply advised to apply for a refund, but there is no way to apply for a refund! Flight crew were very stingy on the wine service and served breakfast at the equivalent time of 3:30 AM; 3 1/2 hours before landing. The " lay-flat" seats don't go down all the way, so you end up scrunched up at the bottom of the bed, and things keep getting caught in the seat mechanism and destroyed. Our carry-on luggage was repeatedly weighed, and we were forced to re-arrange and re-pack bags and personal items so that they didn't exceed 8 kg each. Ridiculous. Never booking on Turkish Air again. :-( read more

Started out as a wonderful trans-Atlantic flight. Touch screen monitors on the back of every seat, meals, blanket and pillow, and new release movies... all provided! Then we landed and everything changed!!! We almost missed our connection, our luggage was lost in the midst of it all, and finally got to us by 4pm the next day. Oh, and let's not forget, our brand new hardcover luggage set... ruined!!!! They even lost one of our luggage straps. It literally looked as if they dangled our luggage from the plane and then continued to drag it behind the plane down the runway upon landing. Talk about a honeymoon downer!!! I plan to avoid turkish airlines at all cost in the future. read more

I want to provide a few comments regarding my recent Turkish Airlines experience. I took 4 flights within the last 30 days; two long haul flights to-and-from the US, and two flights to-and-from Istanbul to Europe. All the flights were in Business Class. I will specifically comment on our flight from Istanbul to Houston Texas (TK#33), however, you can generalize the comments for all of the Turkish flights. I give the on-board service 4 stars. The ground services 2 stars. Flight TK#33 October 1st 2018 Performance - On-time service is lacking (we were late in departing for all 4 flights). - Flight TK#33 had a 50 minute delay for departure from Istanbul. - Most of our delay was sitting in a holding area away from the gate. - There were no announcements for why the delay or any apologies for the delay, which would have been customary on any of the 5-star airlines. Ground Services - The boarding area at Istanbul was a mess. There were no attempts to sort out Business Class before boarding. Just a lot of pushing and shoving with people cutting in the undefined lines. (LAX is surprisingly not much better). - Perhaps the new Istanbul airport help some of this issue. Club Lounge - The business class lounge is excellent. One of the best in the world. On Board Service - The on-board food is excellent in business class. - The on-board chef and food trolley presentations are nicely done. - The seating configuration in business class is very out-dated - 7 across seating is no longer a standard in business class read more

(a scandal I need to give 1 star, when instead it should be ZERO) To the attention of the CEO Dear Mr Bilal Ekşi, you should be personally ashamed, of the company you represent: you have created the most Arrogant, aggressive, useless and incompetent customer service I have ever experienced, after flying over 15 years of my life on a weekly basis. Thanks GOD never with you. I had the misfortune to end up with a pure asshole named BARISH on the 3rd of September 2020, at 19:16 om Berlin time. Upon requesting to give me some options, for a flight, that Turkish airlines had changed ( giving me no option to respond to that and no change to get home), this BARISH has been aggressive, unpolite, unhelpful and rude) "we are not Wallmart !" he shouted at me, at some point I was forced to close the phone and put a formal complaint through the company. Hopefully he gets fired instantly. I do not even know, where Turkish airlines recruits their workforce, most likely from some Farmland in the middle of a fourth world country. There is a reason, why some airlines like Turkish airlines should never be even considered. You will get the shittiest customer service on the planet - at a minimum I am leaving this Feedback on BBB, Yelp, Googlemaps, Trustpilot, and all the possible customer reviews portal out there. Hopefully smarter customers will re-consider, flying with you. read more

Do yourself a favor and never book Turkish. This airline is quite literally the worst ever. Price: 3 Layover time: 1 Service: 0 Every single employee that I encountered, except for two, had the nastiest attitudes. It was actually quite baffling. None of their information matched and they weren't too bothered that NO accommodation was available to some of their passengers. Turkey and the U.S. currently are having diplomatic issues and Americans, therefore, cannot exit the airport. Okay fair enough. Turkish failed to make note of that on their site and also failed to note their asinine rule about accommodation. My layover was 22 hours long but because another flight came in from JFK after me, my layover time was only considered about 8 hours. Theu have a very stupid rule explaining this in their fine print somewhere apparently. That is ridiculous. As a paying customer, I should have been accommodated. The only thing that they did right was provide vouchers for food. I didn't actually care for food. I just wanted somewhere to lay my head for almost a day, since I was not allowed into their country. NEVER AGAIN! read more

I was leery of flying Turkish Airlines based on online reviews both on Yelp and elsewhere. We had a great flight from SFO to IST, and IST to SFO. No drama either direction. The flight attendants make it a point of checking the restrooms every so often as it's a Boeing 777 that flys nonstop from SFO to Turkey. We were able to do an online checkin from SFO to IST. On our return flight, there are many kiosks at IST where you can check in and get your boarding pass. Then do a bag drop. We arrived at IST early so we needed to wait for the counter to open an hour later. Organized chaos. Turkish Airlines then decided to open another service counter at Counter D. We lucked out as we saw the long line at counter C. Being at the tail end of the queue at Counter C, we were now at the front of the line at counter D. Onboard, you're given a Turkish delight sweet treat. Later a toiletries bag. You get a printed menu. You can select from two dinner entrees. Later everyone gets the same breakfast entree. Free local Turkish beer, wines, non alcoholic drinks. The food was nondescript. In economy class where we were, the seats are narrow and cramped. I was lucky to have aisle seats to and from. Plenty of movies to watch. Everyone has an individual monitor with a remote control. There's live TV and WiFi available. I'd fly Turkish Airlines again. read more

We are on a flight to Miami soon after the increased security precautions were instituted, allowing tablets and laptops in the cabin on flights to the US from Istanbul. The additional measures were extensive, but very efficient, and took significantly less time than expected. read more

Flight Date: 30/June/2018 Flight No: TK 0567 From: Istanbul To: Zanzibar Turkish Airlines managed to not only lose one piece of my checked luggage, but also physically swap my second bag's destination tag with another passenger's bag, so that a stranger's suitcase was sent to Zanzibar with my name and my suitcase is now un-trackable. This is inexcusable, and this level of human error demonstrates a deeper issue with management and carelessness amongst the staff. Critically, we have lost over a week's worth of our anti-malaria medication, which is a huge concern for us spending over a week in Africa. The local area of Zanzibar where we are staying also has no nearby pharmacy to replace our medication. Before our flight, we did our due diligence confirming our bags were scheduled to go to Zanzibar, after spending an unplanned night in Istanbul due to a Turkish Airlines flight delay, which caused us to miss our connecting flight to our destination. To top off the entire process, the Staff at Turkish Airlines managed to fill out our lost baggage claim ticket with an incorrect flight date, showing both an incorrect month and YEAR! So, we are sitting outside with the mosquitos, on our 2nd day of holiday, filling out AND attempting to correct claim forms to find our missing anti-malaria medication, a mis-tagged bag with little likelihood of being found, and a second bag without any available information on location. This level of negligence and consideration will ensure that I will never travel this airline again. And the excessively long line of people waiting to receive their assignment for a overnight stay in Istanbul, shows that I am not the first, and I won't be the last, to experience such blatant disregard. read more

If this airline is ever chosen to represent all others for its business class experience, I will never fly business again. Never have I ever been to an airport that is so disorganized and suspicious of its customers. It was a connecting flight, but we went through another security checkpoint once we got off the plane. We were then met with another one later on, and was then chosen to be swabbed down (skin, body, and carry-on baggage) right before the doors to the plane. To make matters worse, the airline could care less about travel classes. Non-business class customers are allowed in the same line and not a single worker stops them from it. It also does not matter if others cut in line so unless you defend yourself, it is more or less a free for all battle for all. For those who like the heat, I recommend taking business class and if possible, choose a flight with a layover. The air conditioner is set to a low setting and despite requesting it to be turned up, it remained the same on the plane. It did not help that there were no air vents and because of this, I became a victim of a cold for the entire duration of my trip. Aside from all the issues addressed above, the food and the customer service in the lounge and flight was beyond exceptional. However, I do want to point out I was out of luck on the plane since my entire entertainment system did not work, and I only received a mere apology in return. TIP: There is a dondurma stand in the airport (8E) and despite the price, I have no regrets buying it twice. read more

Got to fly TA both from Phoenix to Bucharest and Bucharest to Phoenix. On my way there, ALL my checked luggage was 'lost,' although they didn't have a representative at the airport in Bucharest and I had to wait and look for another two hours before I was 'directed' to the Lost and Found. What a nightmare! Thank God I was able to make myself understood, otherwise, my luggage would still be lost. Didn't receive said found luggage until Thursday following, and I arrived there Friday, so almost one week! On my return flight, we were delayed by almost one hour, then there was an 'emergency' on board, so we had to force land in Rome, but the passengers weren't allowed to exit the plane despite having to wait close to four hours. We were not served any meals during this time, but then were told that the food which was just prepared had spoiled and we wouldn't be receiving the food on the menu. I ate some pasta dish because there was nothing else. The passengers did receive cheese and bread sandwiches upon demand, and we were given water and juice. The crew did their best to accommodate the passengers in this situation, but we were told (wrongly) that we could recoup the nearly four hours and still arrive in time. Then we were told TA would take care of our connections, which is also untrue - some of the passengers I traveled with had to find alternate routes because flights were full up the next day. Upon arriving in Houston, TA's customer service did provide us with hotel vouchers for the night, but the vouchers had specific limitations, so that nothing was covered beside room. Seeing how we skipped dinner, had an extra four hours of travel, and arrived there so late that nothing was open (not even pizza delivery), the voucher fell short on accommodation. I will await a reply from someone who is connected with Turkish Airlines, because I'd rather have something positive to say - but I need some input. Make it up to me, TA! read more

Let see I had long flight from lax to turkey , as you go in people from Turkish airline 2 of them standing by front and welcoming you and it was nice to see some one had cooking uniform , I was feeling I am entering to the cooking show and ........ The seat were not comfortable seems like need more cushion , I have just keep my Sode move around , and the funny thing after I got to turkey I have to go with my other Turkish air and other one last than 3 hours flight but seat was great. Please do some thing for long flight seat . read more

Where can I start - They sent my baggage from London to Manila, even though I was not traveling there. (Which I haven't received yet) - Rudest Flight attendants, everyone on the flight got their fair share of this experience - Some staff at IST had condescending behavior. In summary, I thought I would try TK. This shall have been the first and last time on TK. Thanks for the experience. Thanks for the lost baggage. read more

DO NOT book your flight with this airline! Turkey is beautiful but not worth going there with Turkish airlines. Flight: The airplane is decent and clean but flight attendants have poor manners and don't speak English that well. Language has always been a problem in Turkish airports (Ataturk and the new Istanbul airport). People don't speak English and seem to not like foreigners. The new Istanbul airport: gorgeous airport which looks more like a mall with many luxury stores. But very unorganized and over crowded. It's not practical and signs are not well designed or accurate. Airport hotel: Decent enough. Airport staff and vendors: if you live in the States, you'll be shocked how you're treated here. Maybe it's cultural differences but you certainly don't expect this type of treatment at an international airport like this. People have very poor manners and have never heard of customer service. Details of my experience: My flight arrived at Istanbul on time but couldn't land for 20 minutes due to air traffic. Even after landing, it took the plane another 20 minutes to finally park and let us out. Many passengers were pushing through the crowd to make it to their next flight. I had 4 hour layover but my next flight's gate wasn't announced until an hour before boarding. By the time we found our gate, it was last call and the staff told us that the flight was overbooked and they didn't let us get on the plane. Yes, that did really happen and we weren't the only ones. Apparently, it's very common at this airport as they were at least 30 other people at the Turkish airlines desk, trying to get on the next flight to their final destinations, at 1 am. Turkish airlines customer service at the airport was worse than horrible! Very rude and disrespectful. Not just to us, even to an elderly lady in a wheelchair! Couple of people had to yell at them for the way they were treating that lady. Turks just cut in line and when I politely asked one of them to go back in line, he said he was just "asking a question". I told him I was in a rush and trying to get on the next flight and he started yelling and eventually, after he left, the front desk staff who he was talking to, told me that his system was suddenly down and refused to help me! And asked the person behind me to step up. It was after the manager seeing me cry that he decided to help us. I can't wait to get out of this airport and hope I never have to come back again. read more

With the many airlines we used to travel out of the country, the customer service from Turkish Airlines was the worst. First we booked tickets for our flights more than 3 months prior to our trip; we received a notification approximately one month before our trip saying the flights were cancelled and we would need to change to another flight. Because of this, we needed to be sure our connecting flights would work with the new flight, also, they charged us a fee for their cancellation to change to another flight. How is that right? Also, on another one of our flights during the same trip, they made an error with one of our last names on the ticket and we were given the run-around for 24 hours before our flight. We got to the airport way earlier than required as they said it would be handled, but it was NOT. We ended up having to purchase an entirely new ticket with the correct spelling of our name just to ensure we made it on our flight. I would not recommend this airline. read more

This is another difficult review, as I love a few things about Turkish Airlines, and absolutely hate a couple other things. Let's start with the negatives. One would think that on long-haul flights, an airline would fly its most comfortable planes. With Turkish, this was very far from the case. Flying from Miami to Istanbul (9-10 hours), and worse yet, Istanbul to Miami (12-13 hours), I was treated to the most cramped Boeing 777 I've ever seen, with sickeningly tight seat pitch in economy class for any human near 6 feet tall. In general, 777s are very smooth planes - I always enjoy flying on them, but Turkish had this plane configured like a can of sardines. The seats were of course very tight...as a broad shouldered male in economy class on any airline, I'm destined to get up close and personal with any seat mate, right or left. However, I'd be more willing to accept this, if given SOME LEG ROOM. Just some. Some is all I ask! My knees should not be brushing up against the seat in front of me, yet this is exactly what happened. At the very least, could the airline allow for this basic standard of comfort and decency, especially on a stinking 13 hour flight???? Of course, the seats were wildly uncomfortable, but then again, the same could be said for every single airline seat my butt has ever sat in. Now, strangely enough, on the shorter flights we took, from Istanbul to Barcelona, and Madrid to Istanbul, even though the planes were smaller, the Airbus jets we flew were significantly more comfortable, with a bit more leg room, so cheers to Turkish Airlines on that front. I just don't understand why a 3.5 hour regional flight gets a comparatively luxurious plane, while a 13 hour transoceanic flight gets a leg room-denying torture chamber. There is one other negative that plagued all our flights - the planes were way too warm. I'd read this in other reviews of Turkish Airlines, and they were entirely correct. I don't understand the rationale for this, as even the worst American domestic carriers usually try to keep planes nice and cool. I'm a dyed in the wool, red-blooded heat generator under the best of circumstances, so to skimp on the AC, especially on a 10-13 hour flight, was pretty torturous for me. I get hot sitting in my own car, with the thermostat set to 70. These planes couldn't have been any cooler than 76 degrees....which is way too hot. I often found myself sitting in a disgusting warm pool of my own sweat, and the seats were very warm to the touch after I'd been sitting in them for any length of time. What's good about Turkish Airlines? I would have to say, the food and beverages. At the beginning of every flight, you get a tasty piece of Turkish Delight! Yes, I am easily swayed by such things. Also, "for airline food," the meals were typically decent, and sometimes quite good. Complimentary alcoholic beverages were available, and I was able to tick a couple Turkish beers off the long list of beers I've had. Entertainment options, though a little "dated" by a few years, were plentiful. It wasn't difficult finding music to listen to and movies to watch. Turkish Airlines - they may be uncomfortable for the most part, but hey, at least they'll keep you entertained, fed, and watered. read more

Oh Turkish Airlines I could fill up a swear jar with the string of obscenities that comes to my mind at the mere thought of your joke of a business. I hate you with the white hot intensity of a blazing sun. While that may make me a powerful Sith Lord, it certainly does not make me a satisfied customer or happy traveler. So, for my fellow globetrotters out there beware of this airline. Let me recall the ways that they have ruined our trip to Turkey: Luggage from Heathrow to Istanbul took almost 90 minutes to appear even though this is their hub. Considering what would happen later, I guess we should be happy they arrived at all. Two hours of ground delays on our return trip for no reason from Antalya connecting in Istanbul to return to London. Once we arrived in London basically our entire flight is huddled around the carousel watching green hard case....black suitcase....black duffel....red suitcase, round and round they go. Two hours later the board is cleared, carousel turned off and a massive queue forms at your hand off luggage service to overwhelm the claim desk with details of missing luggage. No one from TA is around to help and we are told by the poor luggage guys that this is typical and flights from Istanbul have been losing luggage for weeks! Four full days later and we still don't have our bag. Any contact number rings off the hook and attempts to reach anyone via social media go nowhere. No response at all from the airline or any representative. Words do little to express the frustration and boiling rage that I feel each passing day when I see that tweets, messages and emails have not been responded to and no progress has been made to get us our luggage. Turkish Airlines has reached new heights of incompetence and their lack of concern or accountability is troubling to say the least. They brag about being the top airline in Europe, but I really have no idea how that is possible. Star Alliance should kick them out. Beware. read more

When my friends and I decided to visit France, Turkish airlines flights came in as the most cost effective through kayak ($845 RT from LAX to Marseille, with a 15hr layover in Istanbul, booked about 5 months in advance). The layover didn't really daunt us, as we thought it might be a good opportunity to get in some extra sightseeing on our trip, as none of us had ever been to Turkey. We had a very good experience with Turkish airlines; we thought we got a lot of value for our money: on the first long leg of the flight we were pleasantly surprised by a little in-flight care package given to even the coach passengers: a little zip bag with slippers, socks, sleep mask, toothbrush and toothpaste, and lip balm. Their meals were pretty good for airplane food, and even certain wines and spirits were complimentary (we got to try some Turkish wine). The in-flight entertainment screens had a good selection of movies and they certainly helped pass the time. The staff were all extremely cordial and patient and as pleasant as they could be on what must be a pretty grueling flight for them as well. Finally, you might have read in other reviews about their deal on a free hotel room if your layover is 10+ hours on an international flight (only if an earlier flight could not be booked, an important distinction). Well, I'm here to tell you that it's a pretty sweet deal. Once we landed at Ataturk we went to the Turkish Airlines Hotel Desk (by the Starbucks) and asked if we could get a hotel room and sure enough, no problem. We got a free shuttle ride to and from our hotel and the hotel will even provide a free breakfast. On our first layover we'd landed around 6pm so we had time to freshen up at the hotel and get a cab to Taksim Square to do some sightseeing, which was awesome. Since the shuttle was coming to get us at 5am for the airport we didn't get a chance to eat the breakfast, but we did that on our return layover. We stayed at two different hotels on our respective layovers and they were both really nice. The first one was super-new but farther away from the airport, and the second one, while a little older, was slightly more upscale and closer to the airport. Anyhoo, this hotel deal made what could've been a nightmarish layover actually kind of pleasant. I'd definitely fly with Turkish Airlines again. I wasn't expecting much from this international flight, but this airline far exceeded my expectations. Economy seating is tight, but recline is more than with some of the other commercial airlines. As this was a layover spot, we did not use check-in services, but the staff on board was friendly and efficient. Food was decent and plentiful. Even for flights of about 2 hours, a full meal is served. A nice touch that many airlines no longer offer is the complimentary amenity pack that they provide for long hauls, complete with dental kit, eyeshade, socks, earplugs, and slippers. In addition, landing of the planes for all legs of the flights both to and from our destination were some of the smoothest I've encountered with any airline. read more

13 hour flight Istanbul to US. At least two seats broken in coach so reclined back into laps of rear passengers. VERY cramped. Flight attendants unhelpful and condescending. Temperature in plane hot for entire flight even after asked to lower it. If you are considering this airline, spend the extra money and take a different one. read more

The pros: the food isn't half bad. Don't order the vegetarian if you can avoid it, because they will not give you dessert or appetizers (even if they're vegetarian!). There is a nice care package of toothbrush, eye mask, and slippers for your flight. Also, the pilots are great, and it is a world renowned airline. There is also partner status with Jet Blue, so your domestic connections are coordinated into international travel - not bad. The cons: -The armrests on the A340 don't go up all the way, so no cuddling on overseas flights. The seats themselves are very cramped and uncomfortable. -The flight attendants provide pretty terrible service, and they speak minimal English, even on international flights to/from the US. -Witnessed a very poorly handled medical incident on the flight. So don't get sick! -No outlets/USB chargers. -Poor selection of movies/TV shows. -You will never get through to anyone if you call the toll-free number. You are far better off calling a local office in NYC or Chicago. Otherwise, you cannot reserve your seats in advance. Next time I fly to Turkey, I'll try my damnedest to fly with Delta, Lufthansa, or British Airways. read more

I do not recommend this airline at all; not deserving of even one star, negative zero star is more like it. Terrible airline! Customer service is very poor, non existent in my honest opinion. They canceled my flight from Istanbul to LAX without me knowing about it. When I got to the airport, I was charged high fees to reinstate my flight! Why on earth would they take the liberty to cancel my flight for no reason and impose fees? Shady business practice! Travelers beware! You have other choices for booking flights, Turkish Airlines should not be on your list; it's terrible, it's one of the worst airlines. read more

Turkish Airline has been the worst experience in their beautiful country. It's a shame that their airline is so unprofessional. Their employees are unknowledgeable. They sent us to the wrong check in desk which caused us to miss our flight (which we still had an hour to board) and had the audacity to charge us a penalty to change over flight which cost over $1500 USD. Turkish cab drivers are more professional than these clowns. I will never fly this airline again. read more

AVOID TURKISH AIRLINES at all costs - and, it will cost you! My husband and I flew with Turkish Airlines on 8/24 for our honeymoon. Sixteen days in Europe. Turkish Airlines lost our bag the entire time and never even delivered it to its final destination! Imagine trying to buy underwear and bras in Kusadasi or find some comfortable walking shoes, makeup, formal dress, bathing suit, etc. at random ports all the while missing out on your pre-paid excursions and dinners because you don't have proper dress attire! We saved for years for this trip of a lifetime and Turkish Airlines ruined it then and are not doing anything to rectify the situation now. My poor mother, my mother-in-law, our travel agent, and our cruise line all tried to get through to Turkish Airline to find out where the bag was and try to get it to our final destination while we we are on the ship (limited cell service and email for us). Each time Turkish agents told us a different answer, which contradicted the next answer we received. At one point Turkish said they were trying to get it to us at the next port but, it never even left the United States! Then we were told that the file was closed because the bag was delivered, but it was not yet. Finally we had to call a carrier service to go to LAX airport to look through the lost bags and they found our bag. Now they are claiming we didn't file within the 21 day policy of missing bag. But we did and have a copy of the Direct Courier Service receipt on the date my mother-in-law had to pick up the bag (we were still in Europe at this time), plus we have dated automated emails from Turkish on the date I submitted the claim, to prove it. They are just using excuses to discourage us from standing up to our rights as a passenger. Turkish is now ignoring our email. We plan to now work with an attorney to escalate the issue if we aren't contacted by Turkish Airlines shortly. From my experience, Turkish Airlines does not care about their customers. Don't fly with Turkish Airlines, fly with another airlines such as Emirates, Etihad Airways or Qatar Airways. Your wallet, sanity, and marriage will thank you ;) read more

I made a good experience with front office employees in Istanbul airport and they are very friendly and very helpful! I could without any additional charges or fees change my flight schedule and fly earlier! I found their hotline service very professional and fast in clarifying any misunderstanding + solving flight ticket issues. They are very friendly too! Modern airline airplanes seat pitch for continental and intercontinental flights is good. Flight attendants are really between the best: Very kind and always helping at any time and any situation. I really enjoyed airplane good quality food above all it's fresh and yum! I'm very surprised how Turkish Airline employees manage to solve flight ticket problems very quick and this while remaining very friendly! For high quality service and comfort it's inexpensive to fly Turkish Airlines! As you will gather if you quickly glance through the other reviews, in the air, Turkish Airlines is pretty great but on the ground? Abysmal. If you're flying somewhere that requires a layover in Turkey, I highly recommend using another airline. At Ataturk airport, I wasn't able to find a single worker who was able to speak English. I'm not even talking proper English, just enough to get by, or at least English regarding flights, airports, passports, and the like. Absolutely nothing. They're incredibly rude, impatient, and not helpful at all. My friend wasn't feeling well and when we asked if we could get some medical help they not only didn't offer to help but became hostile. We were terrified and there was no one to even properly translate. In the air things aren't so bad. There's a decent amount of leg room, the food is actually quite good (for airplane food), and the flight attendants make quite a few rounds. Most (if not all) planes have small screens for entertainment purposes in coach with a variety of movies, shows, and music that will keep you busy for hours. Overall, I'm not a fan. While prices are often very affordable, I prefer other airlines. Traveling is stressful enough as is, I'd ratter pay more and feel secure regardless of where I am. On the off chance I miss a flight or something happens, I'd like to know I'll be properly taken care of and understood. read more

Word of advice never fly Turkish Airlines. Between the abysmal customer service in their airport(only person to help me asked for a tip literally asked me for money) and the unbelievable amount of people sitting down waiting on ridiculous layover times. I mean one good flight experience is not worth 6 and a half hours of torture with these people. Most awful customer service ever. It does not matter. FB, call center, email - no one cares. Do not fly this airlines. My father flies their business class. But not for long. Customer service line, scheduling and just how much they care is awful and ridiculous. I have never ever seen anything like this. If flying from SFO -- try Lufthansa or United. I bought the domestic flight tickets of Turkish Airlines with my American bank account. and now i left The States so i canceled my bank account before i left the country. then I realized I couldn't make it to the trips in Turkey (Istanbul - Bodrum for round trips tickets) anymore. so I went to The Turkish Airlines Head Office in Taksim Square (Istanbul) to do cancellation and refund. Staffs there canceled my flights but I have to call to the Call Center for refund since I dont use that bank account anymore. So i called I had to talk to many call center took me an hour for waiting and I talked to them just few mins. 1 staffs from customer service said I have to go back to the office that I canceled my flights and I could get a refund money in cash. I went back to the office next day in the morning. I talked to staffs there and they said I need a paper from Bank in America to confirm that I used to have that bank account and now I closed but Bank of America can not do anything. This bank doesnt do any paper and send to customers with Email. even can not do anything after the customers closed the bank account because they dont have enough information about customers to verify the bank account! so it mean I CAN NOT get any paper from Bank of America. I called back to Turkish Airlines Customer Service to ask any other solution could they do or I could do to get my money ( 561 Liras, 8,404 Thai Baht, 260 US Dollars or 195 Euros) back. But they dont have any other solution. I can only have the same bank account or get a prove paper from bank account or... I lost my money... which mean I LOST MY MONEY THIS TURKISH AIRLINES has really AWFUL customer services. They dont know how to find other solutions for customers to keep customers feel happy to traveling around the world with so I would recommend to you who are reading this... dont buy ticket from this airlines staffs are not really nice in the airplanes. They dont have service mind which mean they should not be the flight attendance and customer service since they can not find any other way to solve the problem while other airlines could do the refund with money... I agree with another user. The flight itself is nice, with the food being good and the flight attendants being super nice, as well as having screens in front of you to watch films, but the staff at the Istanbul Airport was rude. I'm not sure if that's how they are, or if they just dislike Americans, since the lady at the café was also rude. I had an 8-hour delay due to snow, and had a few questions about this delay, so I went to several representatives. Out of the, maybe 10 of them that I spoke to, only 2 of them were nice and helpful. I also had a bad experience when I got lost one hour before departing to go to the restroom, and the guy wouldn't let me go to the gate. It was a nightmare! I could see the people lining up and hoping on the bus to go to the plane, but I couldn't go through! He said I had to go around through the exit, and back in on the second floor, despite showing him my boarding pass and the departing time. He made me have an anxiety attack. The other guy I went to for help didn't even speak English, but understood me better than the guy who did speak English, and let me through. read more

This airline suck at the info board it says the counter is open for baggage checkin and when we go to the counter to check in bags they say it's not open Until plan arrives. Dude you got baggage holding area for transit passengers. Common sense at the counter would be appreciated. P.s they judge you by how you are dressed if you are in a t shirt they won't treat you nice but if your in a suit they will go out of their way to treat you better. So superficial Turks. read more

Although I've only had one experience with Turkish Airlines, I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again. On a trip this spring I contemplated whether to fly with Alitalia or Turkish Airlines, as both airlines served the route I was taking (Bologna-Istanbul), cost similar amounts and had similar schedules. Am I ever glad I picked Turkish Airlines! Maybe I'm used to air travel within Canada and the US, where you don't get anything except perhaps a (non alcoholic) beverages unless you are flying across the Atlantic. With Turkish airlines, even for a short flight, you get a full meal and complimentary beverage (including beer and wine). And the food is actually good! Another little plus: they come around with newspapers. And with Turkish delight. And the staff are friendly and helpful! It's the little things that count. read more

I always carefully check my hotel room when I first arrive, and I am glad that I did this because there were blood stains all over the bedding under the sheets, and there was even a squashed bug under the mattress. I immediately took photos and left. While this would be typically a 1-star experience, the men at the front desk salvaged things. They were so alarmed by my story and the photos that they immediately upgraded me to a larger room (which checked out to be clean, but I still kept my stuff packed and away from all soft surfaces just out of an abundance of caution), and they tried to offer late checkout or breakfast, neither of which I could do. I appreciated how seriously they took my complaints, but I definitely think this is a place you should approach with reasonable caution. Also, the hotel restaurant is astronomically priced. I had a plate of pasta, a bottle of water, and 2 glasses of wine, and the total was $87 USD.
