My husband, children (ages 5 to 21) and I are all patients of Dr Duc Nguyen in his smaller Elk Grove, Ca office for over 6-7 years. What I appreciate most is that Dr Nguyen truly enjoys what he does, he listens to his patients, he's open late some days during the week and Saturdays, and he practices general dentistry, orthodontia and he does periodontal cleanings 3x a year for my husband and I. He has been seeing my kids as young as a year old and they are all willing to go to the dentist w/o fear and did the braces for my 2 older girls not to mention extractions and crowns some of us in the household have endured. Dr. Nguyen is an excellent dentist. He explained the procedure of removing my broken tooth which created a great sense of ease in my mind. There was no pain at all during the procedure and am going on day 3 post the procedure and feel fine. There was the normal swelling that would come with having a tooth fully extracted and the only pain (very minimal) lasted that same evening of the procedure. As many of you will agree that going to a dentist is usually not the funnest thing . Over the years I have had the unfortunate experience in having to do to several . About 2 years ago I was told about Mr.Nuyens practice. Since the recommendation came from a good friend I decided to give him a try and am so happy that I did. From the moment that you walk in you were greeted very warm and kind me by the staff and are usually seated in the dentist chair within 5 to 10 minutes of your arrival. Dr.N takes his time and informs me What procedure I will be getting and something else I don't really like about his assistance is that they double check by saying to each other and checking on the papers to make sure that you are getting the correct treatment. As for myself working in the Medical field this is very important and reduces the risk of miscommunication or getting something done that you should not be. Over the last year I have recommended this practice to many of my family and friends. Dr Nguyen is an amazing dentist. If I ever move out of the area, I would literally drive from across the country to get my dental work done here. He is very professional and knows what he is doing. I have never had pain from any procedures he has done. He is very good with giving shots too. I am deathly afraid of needles and everytime I go in I have never had any problems because he does it very quickly and efficiently. He is honest with you and will work overtime to help you if you have an emergency. All the employees that work in the office are very kind and friendly. Their prices are also very reasonable. I visited Turlock Dental Arts last week. I had a tooth that was sensitive to cold liquids. I thought that I might have cracked a tooth. I was warmly greeted by the receptionist and the office manager. I was called back in just a few minutes. Not a long wait at all. They scanned my problem tooth with a 3D scanner. Painless and very fast. No crack fortunately for me. Very impressed with the state of the art equipment. It was a great experience. Great staff, Great place. Get a second opinion. I recently moved to the valley a few months back. My mother is a part time private dentist and full time faculty at USC dental school. I've been getting routine cleanings and dental care my entire life. Who wouldn't if your mom was a dentist???? Being four hours away now, I figured I'd just pay for cleanings and exams and if any work needed to be done I'd shoot down to LA to my mom. After my xrays and exam Dr. Nguyen recommended I get 5 fillings and a crown. Immediately my red flag was up. I have two small fillings and they've been there since I was 6 years old. I denied treatment that day and good thing I did. While visiting my mom for Easter I told her my experience and she had new xrays taken at her practice. I had ZERO cavities. Please get a second opinion if you ever came to this place. I will definitely be filing a complaint. read more

The entire staff is very friendly and accommodating. Office has digital X-rays and a 3D scanning onsite. I'm still incredibly pleased with Dr. Nguyen as my dentist. The customer service is consistently amazing. Whether I'm their first or last customer of the day, they're always energetic and friendly. What's amazing is that they remember all the little details from previous conversations, which is amazing, considering how many clients they have. They took an X-ray, did exam and the extraction within an hour and a half time. The price wasn't bad as I currently do not have insurance. Last Thursday, January 19, I was in desperate need of a dentist for a tooth that was killing me and on it's way to needing a root canal. I needed a dentist to go in open the tooth to relieve the building pressure, treat it with medication than put a temporary filling in so I could go up to Humboldt County and have my dad do the root canal and the crown prep. Simple, simple. I have had this done before and other dentists have not had a problem with my request or acted like it was something out of the ordinary. Dr Nguyen was all put out that I didn't want him to do the root canal than and there. I again explained what I wanted and that my father who had been a dentist for years would complete the process after the tooth had settled down. He went on about it not being the policy of this office and he wasn't sure how he would get paid. Ah-ha!! This was all about the mighty $$ not about the patient in the chair suffering in pain. This really pissed me off. He was actually doing a wallet biopsy on me before he would treat me... what a jerk. My husband had just gotten new dental plan at the first of the year and we had not been given a group number yet. So they had no actual proof of insurance, but they knew that I was gainfully employed at Emanuel Medical Center. The big chicken sent his office gal I to tell me what the cash price would be to do what I had asked. Yup, I was pretty clear on how it was all about the $$ and not an ounce of compassion for his fellow man. I told her I would pay cash and the dentist miraculously showed up. He started to get me numb which I was so looking forward to. Just to get a bit of relief. I got a little numb, but not a dense numbness like when my dad or other dentists have done oral blocks. I told him I needed more and he started to argue with me. Like something was wrong with me and it couldn't possibly be his technique. He started to drill and I could feel everything. I was hanging onto that chair and tears were streaming down the side of my face. He stopped and tried to inject some more. My surrounding tissue was sore for a week. 7 carpojets!! Crazy, and I was still hurting. He put something in my tooth and sealed it up. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I asked him about antibiotics and he said no because I had been on some recently for something else. And get this, I asked for some pain medication. He wrote a RX for NORCO 5/325. One pill every 8- hours. I do anesthesia for a living and have NEVER seen such a lame prescription. Maybe for a 90 year old with liver disease??? The whole experience was horrific I have never experienced that much pain in a dental chair. Dr Nguyen may have passed his dental boards but is highly lacking in compassion for his patients, injection skills, and I do believe for him it is all about the $$ I had to go see an endodontist on Saturday as I was still having a lot of pain. He added another antibiotic and had me completely numb with 2 injections. He was amazing and didn't even charge me for the visit. Something called professional courtesy. Dr Laudenschager is the best! When ever I have needed to get in, I am able to get in. He is a man of little words but gets the job done, and done right. He is gentle and kind. Dr. L was also very compassionate with my father that had Alzheimer's and treated him with respect and dignity. The office heard I was in the hospital for awhile and sent me flowers! While the doctors are outstanding, the front desk service is AWFUL. I scheduled an appointment in January. The soonest available time was March. So I waited until March and got some X-rays. Then I had to wait another month to get some cavities filled. I had to wait until the end of May to get even my first cleaning. They called and told me I had to reschedule. The soonest appointment they had was dec 19. Wow. That's outrageous. Another incident that happened was my husband took him off work for his appointment. He showed up and they had no record of it, and he even had a card. They turned him away. read more
